About: I have been taking care of pets for the past two years. I love all breeds of dogs from small to big. I have done housesitting, visits, and dog walks. I cannot wait to meet more dogs! Pet care works with me almost every day that I am in town. I can work most hours and find time for your dog. I have lots of extra time I would love to spend walking a dog outside. I can care for any pet in any way the owner wishes. This is an addition to playing and giving the animal my full attention.

About: I have had a dog since I was 4 years old. She is 16 now, and she’s queen bee around our house! She’s had two ACL surgeries in the past, and now her back legs are unfortunately atrophied. Throughout these years, I have gained experience administering medicine, spoon feeding, and helping her walk. My family recently adopted a second dog, who was born in Ukraine and deals with pretty severe anxiety. We still have a ways to go with him, but the progress he has made has been amazing. I go to Ave Maria so I will be available during the whole school year! I do play lacrosse which is a spring sport however, I still tend to be decently flexible. I can find time to visit during the day and I am open to staying overnight! A lot of exercise and playtime. Meals and medicine 1-4 times a day depending on the breed and size. Some treats and lots of love!

Erin is the most amazing soul I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I had a different rover sitter scheduled weeks in advance that was supposed to stay in my house with my 2 frenchies while I went back to MD to visit with family. The night before my flight I received a message from the sitter saying he could not make it & the booking was cancelled, needless to say I was panicking trying to find someone last minute. It turns out that was the biggest blessing because Erin saved my entire trip! She is so wonderful! She was willing to stop by my house an hour after contacting her so I could show her where everything was and so she could meet Loki and Diesel. She treated my frenchies as if they were her own! She sent me updates, videos and pictures multiple times a day! I always worry about someone watching my dogs because I have one frenchie who is jealous and shows aggression towards my other frenchie. That did not deter Erin, she accepted the challenge and navigated everything with patience and grace! I feel so lucky that the initial rover sitter canceled less than 12 hours before my scheduled flight because it lead me to Erin!

About: Hello! I’m Kelby, a lifelong dog and cat lover with years of experience caring for pets of all sizes and personalities. I’ve grown up with animals my whole life, and today I share my home with a Chihuahua, a Labrador, a cat, and three family cats. My pet care journey started in childhood walking neighbors’ dogs, helping friends with their pets, and pet sitting whenever someone needed a hand. By 18, I enrolled in Animal Behavior College and turned that my passion into a profession, becoming an ABCDT-certified trainer and pet care provider. I’ve now worked professionally with dogs and cats for over four years, and I especially love helping anxious, fearful, or reactive pets feel safe and understood. I can’t wait to meet your furry family members and give them all the love and care they need. Pet care is part of my everyday life. Not only as a pet parent but also working professionally with dogs. My dogs and I love to go to the beach, parks, and anywhere we can find that’s fun to sniff! My schedule can be complex at times so please reach out for more information. Your pets safety always comes first. I will keep a close eye on your pet along with their body language to make sure they’re comfortable and happy in any situation. With my CPR and First Aid training, I’m prepared for emergencies, but my goal is always to prevent issues before they happen.

About: Hi! I’m Candice, a lifelong animal lover and dog owner with years of experience caring for pets of my own, as well as helping friends and family with theirs. I understand that pets are family, and I treat every dog in my care with the same love, patience, and attention I give my own. Whether your pup needs a walk, drop-in visit, overnight care, or simply some extra companionship while you’re away, my goal is to make them feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I have experience monitoring pets for health concerns and understand the importance of paying attention to changes in behavior, appetite, energy levels, and overall well-being. Communication is important to me, so I’ll keep you updated with photos and messages so you can relax knowing your pet is in good hands. I live in a spacious home with a screened lanai and a large fenced yard, providing plenty of room for dogs to safely play, explore, and enjoy the outdoors. I look forward to meeting you and your furry family members! I do work full time. I am a salon consultant. I set my schedule. I am able to come before and after work and nights, weekends. I am able to do in-home to care for your pets. My family and I are in an apartment looking to buy a home. Eventually would like to pet sit in our home as well.

About: I have been taking care of dogs/always had pets since I was a kid and volunteered at the Humane Society as a young adult. My dog Charlie was a rescue from there that I adopted. She has a history of abuse (but is an absolute angel) so I have experience with more difficult dogs and different behavioral needs along with training experience. Looking to fill my free time doing what I love! I currently work from home so my schedule is very flexible and open to be able to do drop ins, walks and pet sitting. I can also do urgent drop ins or walks. I will treat your home with respect and your pet with love ensuring they are well cared for and have fun while at home or on walks! I can feed on any requested schedule and any unique quirks!

About: I have taken care of dogs and cats since I was a child and have pet sat since then as well. neighbors, friends, and family have relied on me many times and I do not let them down. Whether it’s a quick drop-in or extended care, I’m committed to making your pet’s routine feel consistent and comforting while you’re away. About: I am a responsible and dependable college student who genuinely enjoys caring for animals. I understand that every pet has their own personality, routine, and needs, and I take the time to make sure they feel comfortable, safe, and well cared for while you're away. I am attentive to feeding schedules, exercise needs, medications, and any special instructions provided by owners. I also believe in keeping pet parents updated with regular messages and photos so they can have peace of mind while their pets are in my care. In my own personal experience I have worked with pets ever since I was 13 and have loved animals my whole life. I have watched multiple animals at one time, administered medication, provided walks, provided cuddles/play times, and provided over night stays for the past few years. Whether your pet enjoys long walks, playtime, or simply having a calm companion around, I will provide patient and loving care tailored to their needs. My goal is to treat every pet as if they were my own and ensure they receive plenty of attention, affection, and care. I am currently a full time student at FGCU. However I only have closes on Tuesday and Thursdays. I am available any time when I don’t have class. I work part time at a babysitting company, however I make my own schedule and therefore am very flexible! Safety and comfort are my top priorities when caring for pets. In a client's home, I follow all care instructions carefully, including feeding schedules, medication routines, exercise needs, and any household rules. I make sure pets have fresh water, a clean environment, and plenty of attention and companionship while their owners are away. I understand that pets are often most comfortable in their familiar surroundings, so I work to maintain their normal routine and minimize stress. I also pay close attention to any changes in behavior or health and will communicate promptly with owners if I have any concerns. I treat every home and pet with respect, keeping living areas clean, securing doors and gates, and ensuring pets remain safe at all times. FAQs for House Sitting - Harker

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 530 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Harker. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Harker walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Harker maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Harker choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Harker. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
