“Anna, has been THE BEST dog sitter we have ever had. She communicated with us during her stay with Charlie with many photos and updates. Came back to a clean house and a happy dog. A+ service.”

“Cara is awesome! She did an overnight with my dog, effectively communicated and sent pictures throughout the stay. I felt my dog was in very good hands. Highly recommend her!”

“Danielle was a true lifesaver for us as she was able to watch our dog Zella at the last minute when another sitter (booked thru Rover) did not show up after we had already left town. More amazing was that she was able to watch her for the entire 3 weeks especially thru the holidays and we are forever grateful to her for the care she gave Zella. She sent us daily updates and photos throughout and gave us tremendous peace of mind the entire time. We highly recommend Danielle to others and will definitely use her in the future without hesitation. She is truly awesome!!”

“Kiley was phenomenal. She communicated regularly and she spent plenty of time with the pups. We’ve had many sitters and we could tell, this one was different where the pups were super relaxed and happy. Thank you, Kiley!”

“Sean did a great job taking care of our girl Zella. He was very respectful of our home and communication was outstanding to make sure Zella was comfortable and well cared for. Highly recommend to others.”

“Paloa was absolutely amazing. She took very good care of our puppy and kept us posted with pictures & communicated with multiple times throughout the day!! I would highly recommend this lovely young lady!!”

“Amber was great to work with while she stayed in our home with our three dogs. She loved on them all weekend and we could tell the dogs were happy and much more comfortable at home than at a kennel.”

About: I’ve taken care of many dogs, as much as four in a household! The largest being over 100 pounds and the smallest under 10! I’ve grown up with dogs all my life and have learned to understand body language pretty well! A little over a year ago my family brought in a month old puppy that has now grown to be a malinois/shepherd/bully mix so I have experience with a work breed puppy as well! I am currently enrolled at FGCU, my classes start during the fall so I am a completely open book during the week and weekends for the rest of the summer! (Will update when I start my classes) I am used to staying at my clients homes, I feel it makes the animals more comfortable and the last thing they need is to stress! I usually ask for notes on how the pets are usually cared for and strictly follow those notes so I don’t disturb the animals mental clock!
“She was amazing watching our pups. We got pictures every single day and updates. She arrived on time and let us know. When she left. She cleaned up after herself. I would recommend her to anybody that's looking for in-house dog sitting. She is definitely reliable.”
“Highly recommend Athena as your sitter! She is kind and thoughtful. Very responsible. She responded to my messages almost immediately every time I reached out and that was so important to me. My house was cleaner when I got home then before I left, lol… I will absolutely use her services again!!”

“My boyfriend and I are so happy we found Dannie to watch our 8 month old puppy. This was our first time leaving him with a dog sitter so we were a little nervous, but Dannie made our trip relaxed! I knew they’d do well together when my puppy loved her from the first meet and greet. She sent multiple messages and pictures throughout the day, updating us on how much fun they were having and just to say hi. It was comforting having her be so communicative. She followed our directions with our puppy (we have specific things we do for him) and she did them no problem. She also left the house clean and neat, which was appreciated! She’s also very calm and sweet, which was needed for our sometimes crazy puppy. I will definitely be using her again!”

“Victoria watched our two dogs for a long weekend and took wonderful care of them. She sent updates daily with photos and our dogs appeared to be quite comfortable! Our home was also very well maintained while she was here. Definitely keeping her on our list of sitters for future trips away!”

About: For more than 20 years, our life has been rooted in service and travel — first as a retired military family, and later as mission workers serving orphaned youth in the Dominican Republic. Through those experiences, home became especially meaningful to me. Some of the greatest joy in my life has come from raising my children, caring for our animals, and tending to our small homestead. Now that we are happily settled in Naples for good and my children are getting older, I have the opportunity to devote more time to caring for the homes and animals of others with the same love and attention I give my own. I am a homesteading and homeschooling Mom with older children, so my day is flexible with notice. I can do drop in visits to your home within a reasonable distance or stay over night keeping your pets comfortable in their own home as well. Because of the number of animals we already have on our little homestead, I’m only able to offer care for your fur-baby in your home.
“Kaylyn is an awesome pet sitter. She's responsible, reliable and a great communicator. She watched our 2 Siberian cats for a few days and sent pictures and texts to keep us in the loop. She even brushed their tangled fur! We will definitely rebook her.”

“Diana was an outstanding sitter for our three babies! Our one doggy needed some extra care, including medication administration, and Diana was able to supply this care without any issue. She messaged us daily with pictures of our babies and kept in great communication. We had extra peace of mind as well as she stayed in our home and even brought in a package we forgot was scheduled for delivery. We would be thrilled to have Diana watch our babies again.”

“Idania was very communicative and responsive. She stayed and took care of my husky, Luna while we were away for a family event. She let me know that Luna’s medications were given and sent pictures of her walks. Thanks again!!!”

“I trust Andrea so much with my two golden dogs!! She is always communicating the whole time, sending lots of pictures, and giving my dogs so much love! So happy to have someone like her to rely on when we need her!”

Becca was great! She always responded quickly, sent a bunch of pictures and updates and left my house clean when I returned home. Her communication was great with updates just as I had requested and she was sure to keep him on his normal schedule. I was able to relax while away and felt he was in good hands. I returned to a very happy pup and would absolutely rebook with Becca and recommend her to anyone.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Vineyards walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Vineyards maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Vineyards choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Vineyards. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
