“Bonnie was wonderful! She was incredibly consistent with her visits, and played and loved our puppies like they were her own! she sent us great pics to let us see our girls, as we missed them so much🌴. she also went above and beyond to bring in the mail each day. Bonnie will be our “go to” sitter from now on!”

“Meghana filled in for our regular petsitter with our two senior chihuahuas who are pretty skittish with everybody, and not only was able to get them comfortable with her quickly, but even got to sit with and pet them (which they will rarely let US do)!”

“Erin was fantastic with our three older dogs during her drop-in visits this week. Taking care of senior pups requires a certain level of attentiveness, and Erin delivered. She was incredibly punctual, showing up right on time for every single visit, which kept our dogs on their necessary routine. Her communication was prompt and detailed, giving us peace of mind while we were away. We would absolutely work with Erin again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring sitter!”

About: I’ve had both cats and dogs as pets pretty much my entire life! I’m currently in school, but back home I have two dogs, Charlie and Ella! Additionally, I have been pet sitting on and off for the past 6 years with experience caring for cats and dogs of all ages, from puppies up to seniors, and all sizes, from french bulldogs up to great danes! Additionally, my own dog back home has a seizure disorder and requires his medication at precisely the same time everyday so I have extensive experience caring for those with medical needs and understand the importance of it! I'd love to get to know you and your fur baby and help out however I can! I’m currently in school and looking for a way to get my pet fix in since I no longer get to see my dogs everyday! I’m available all-day on weekends and for check-ins during the week in the early mornings, at lunch time, in the late afternoons, and in the evenings. If you see a day in my schedule blocked off for any reason, please feel free to reach out anyway as I can typically make it work and help out! I will come to your home and care for your pet in the environment they feel the most safe and comfortable! I know every pet is different so whether they need feeding, walking, playtime, or just some cuddles, I'll be there!
“Great communication and easy to talk through options with. Super flexible too — when we had a last-minute change in plans, she happily accommodated us and our dog. Our pup genuinely looks forward to her visits. Highly recommend!”

“Kaylee was wonderful with our boy Lukas. It was a first time we ever left him home while out of town. Kaylee was thorough in communicating and did a great job keeping Lukas on schedule with walks and meals. Knowing Kaylee was reliable gave us security and peace of mind.”

“Katie did an amazing job! She took my request last minute and followed all of my instructions with no problem! And she was great at communicating! I never had to worry about my cat while I was gone I knew she was in great hands! Would highly recommend and will definitely use her again in the future!”

About: Hi! My name is Lucy, and I'm a current veterinary student at the University of Illinois. I have previously pet sat for dogs and cats of all ages and sizes and would love to care for your pet while you are away. I originally started pet sitting in high school (about 6 years ago) to gain animal care experience. Since then, I have worked at kennels and vet clinics and am learning new skills every day at school! I'm hoping to pet sit while I'm home during school breaks, so I am pretty flexible when it comes to my availability. I'll do my best to accommodate you and your pet's needs! Because of my family dog at home, I am currently only offering drop in visits, walks, care, etc. at your home. This is to guarantee the health and safety of all animals involved. While pet sitting, I love to keep you updated with photos and notes! If I notice anything at all, I will reach out to you so you can stay informed and make the best decision on how you would like me to proceed with the care of your pet.

“Solana did a wonderful job taking care of our dogs! We enjoyed all the pictures while we were gone and she made sure to give our pups lots of attention! We will definitely be using her again in the future.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Amlin
We were so very lucky to have Jennifer take care of our baby Tucker. Even though he just turned 12, he is extremely friendly and cuddly, and needs lots of love. Jennifer fit the Bill completely not only did she take such excellent care of his food needs. She also took the time to pet him rub his belly and play with him which was essential, along with being fed. Jennifer also did extra things for us while we were gone, like collect our mail and take care of my plants. which she did not have to do. She kept the litter box extra clean as well.

If you are searching for a sitter for your kitty with medical needs, then look no further! Last month my cat was diagnosed with CKD. I was in desperate need of a Rover sitter to help give subcutaneous fluids to my (squirmy) kitty. I knew I needed someone who provides this care almost every day. I was so lucky to find Victoria’s profile. Victoria was clear in her communication and came prepared with techniques, tricks, and even extra supplies. Her first visit she wowed me by being able to insert the needle in on her own - my job after was to distract with pets and treats. The whole visit took about 10 minutes. Victoria is confident, calm, and kind. Her presence has eased any concerns I have about my cat not getting his proper dosage of fluids. I have absolutely no doubt you’ll feel at ease knowing Victoria is watching your kitty kiddo! I cannot recommend her enough.

David was wonderful with my two dogs! He welcomed them graciously into his home, made accommodations for their various needs, was an excellent communicator, and overall great caretaker. I was able to enjoy my trip so much more knowing my pups were in good hands. Thank you David!

Tom was very flexible and communicative when I reached out for a drop in visit/walk. He arrived on time and gave my dog lots of love and attention while he was there. He also sent me lots of pictures which is always nice to receive. I will definitely have him back to help!

Noah took wonderful care of my cat for 6 days and I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter! He did a great job keeping me updated on her mood and daily routine, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. He also shared plenty of photos, and it was clear she was comfortable and well cared for. On top of that, he was incredibly flexible and accommodating when I needed to add an extra day at the last minute. I really appreciated his responsiveness and willingness to help. I would absolutely book with Noah again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable and attentive sitter!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
