What a wonderful experience we had with Jennifer. This is the longest we have left home without Elmer. Jennifer provided great updates multiple times a day. She even pointed out some seasonal allergy symptoms he was having and we were hopefully able to remedy. Jennifer took meticulous care of our home. She went above and beyond with tasks at the house, but most importantly, she took great care of Elmer and made him feel so loved while we were away. She is truly a professional and has lots of love to give for special family members.

Katelyn did an amazing job watching our pug and Staffy during a recent trip. She is super responsive, great with sending pictures, and even made sure our packages that were delivered were brought in. Our pug who loves everyone definitely found a new friend in Katelyn and our Staffy, who takes a little long to warm up to new people, eventually saw that this new hooman was one of the good ones. Highly recommend Katelyn for any pet sitting you may need.

About: Dogs have always been a big part of my life! I’ve had Oliver (frenchie) since he was a puppy, so I’m used to everything from training to daily routines. He requires allergy medication, which means I’m comfortable giving meds and paying close attention to a dog’s needs. I also frequently care for my family’s three dogs (two Frenchies and an English bulldog), so I’m great at handling multiple pups and making sure each one gets the attention they deserve. I’m currently working 3rd shift, so if you’re needing someone in the morning to let out your furry pet I can! Or if you want someone home all day with your pet, that works perfect for me as well! I would say I’m pretty flexible if told ahead of time! I live in an apartment and do have a dog named Oliver. Oliver pretty much gets along with other dogs! If you’d rather your dog not be around another, I’d be more than willing to stay with your pets! My cousin would love watching my dog. I love meeting new fur babies and would love to help whenever I can with whatever you need!

Mia did amazing with our dogs. They are sensitive and tend to have high anxiety when things change. Upon coming home there were no accidents and the dogs approached us as if nothing happened, meaning, she loved them and tended to them in the same mannor we would. She also gave the same love to our bearded dragon. Thank you so much for stepping in while we can step out!

Madeline stayed with my babies over night which I much appreciated it. She sent pictures daily of them. The 1st day with them she didn;t leave which made them feel secure. Felt like they were loved and taken care of since have 2 puppy mill moms and 3 cats which think Zoey maybe slept with her since the room she slept in Zoey has now claimed for her room.

About: Dog CPR and First Aid certified. Your pet will be given lots of love and attention, and you can be sure they are with someone reliable. I can exercise your dog as much as needed. My own dog is high energy and I take him for runs, he goes in the stroller when he gets tired :) I have experience with senior dogs, puppies, dogs with medical conditions, allergies, and specific dietary needs. I can administer medication and I know how important it is to follow strict guidelines, as my own dog has severe allergies. I work from home so I am available most of the time. I don’t know why this section requires twenty five words, but it does. I have a fenced yard and one high energy fur baby of my own. Your dog can cuddle with us in the human bed, or you can bring their own! I do not have an extra crate, so you will need to bring one.

We’re very happy we found Susan! She was great with our dog and it’s clear she loves animals. Susan kept in touch with us throughout our vacation by sending photos and keeping us informed of how our dog was doing. It didn’t take long before we knew our pup was in great hands. We give Susan five stars and will definitely use her services again.

Danielle took great care care of Shadow while we were busy. Shadow didn't seem to mind seeing her again after meeting her for the first time. We are so thankful she was able to feed him dinner & take him out for a short walk to break up his day before we got home. Loved her updates and photos of our boy hanging out with her. She's truly a great sitter to hire for your pet.

Sadie was cared for and in good spirits when we returned. We would happily book Emma again!

I just graduated from high school! I will be free any day over the summer. Pretty much any time of day works for me too! Playing with my cats is my favorite part of my day! I can clean litter boxes, give clean food and water, and play with them tons.💗

Zach was an excellent pet sitter! He provided daily photo updates, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. He made sure Rebel got a walk every day and took great care of all of our pets—Rebel, our dog, and Lilly and Bella, our cats. It was clear they were well cared for and comfortable while we were gone. We really appreciated his communication, reliability, and the care he showed our pets. We’d absolutely trust Zach to watch them again.

About: Hi there! I’m a dedicated pet lover and pet parent to one Italian Greyhound and a few cats who keep me on my toes—they can be a little needy at times, but I make sure everyone is well cared for and on a good routine. I know how important it is to feel confident your pets are safe, happy, and cared for while you’re away. Whether your pet loves long walks, playtime, or just curling up for some quiet company, I take the time to match their energy and routine so they feel comfortable and at ease. I approach every pet with patience and awareness, paying attention to their personality, comfort level, and needs. Some pets want lots of interaction, others prefer space—and I respect that. My goal is always to create a calm, consistent environment where they can feel secure. I also prioritize communication, so you can expect regular updates and photos while you’re away. I come with trusted references available upon request, and I prefer to meet you and your pets ahead of time to make sure it’s a good fit for everyone. At the end of the day, I want your pets to feel relaxed, cared for, and as close to their normal routine as possible. My day to day full time job is flexible. In most cases I write my own schedule each day. I will have a pretty open and flexible schedule to accommodate pet sitting, pet walking, etc. Always making sure the pet is in a safe surrounding. When let outside if fenced in, walk with the dog still. I also have a pet AirTag I bring with me when pet walking as a backup precaution to help locate the pet quicker in the case of an emergency.

Holly was excellent with my two dogs. One dog is a "senior" and sometimes doesn't do well with my being away but she seemed to have really accepted Holly quickly. My pup has never spent a night without me since he arrived over 2 years ago but he did well also. She was on top of caring for the dogs even before I could text about how to manage them if fireworks were set off. It was a wonderful experience and I would contact her without hesitation the next time I plan a vacation.

Jennifer H.did a wonderful job taking care of our cat and our house while we were on vacation, We were gone 11 days. She was very conscientious. She brought our mail in and took our garbage out. She was very caring toward our 11 year old, grumpy cat. Our cat ate well and used his litter box per usual. She gave him the space and distance he needed and made us feel comfortable that he was doing well so we could enjoy our time on vacation. She texted us with daily photos to keep us updated. I appreciated all of these texts. I will use her services again and I can highly recommend her services. Thank you Jennifer for your amazing care.

Jamie has always been a great sitter for us! She genuinely cares and has fun with our pets while we’re away. She makes sure to read & follow all the instructions we leave, and keeps us informed with lots of pictures. She even washed the sheets and towels and remade the bed before heading out, which she definitely didn’t have to do! All in all would definitely recommend Jamie as a pet / house sitter if you are looking for someone kind, communicative, and responsible!

FAQs for House Sitting - Amlin

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Amlin on Rover is $49.95 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 1,526 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Amlin. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Amlin walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Amlin maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Amlin choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Amlin. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 95% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
