“First time using Rover & can honestly say that I’ll be using it again after having Morgan as our puppy helper. By far one of the most knowledgeable, caring & kindest young lady’s you’ll come in contact with! Took such good care of our Frenchie & hopefully the next time we choose to use this service we’ll be able to choose her again! Side note - She’ll send you pictures of the puppy/dog periodically through the entire experience.”

“Mia did amazing with our dogs. They are sensitive and tend to have high anxiety when things change. Upon coming home there were no accidents and the dogs approached us as if nothing happened, meaning, she loved them and tended to them in the same mannor we would. She also gave the same love to our bearded dragon. Thank you so much for stepping in while we can step out!”

About: Dogs have always been a big part of my life! I’ve had Oliver (frenchie) since he was a puppy, so I’m used to everything from training to daily routines. He requires allergy medication, which means I’m comfortable giving meds and paying close attention to a dog’s needs. I also frequently care for my family’s three dogs (two Frenchies and an English bulldog), so I’m great at handling multiple pups and making sure each one gets the attention they deserve. I’m currently working 3rd shift, so if you’re needing someone in the morning to let out your furry pet I can! Or if you want someone home all day with your pet, that works perfect for me as well! I would say I’m pretty flexible if told ahead of time! I live in an apartment and do have a dog named Oliver. Oliver pretty much gets along with other dogs! If you’d rather your dog not be around another, I’d be more than willing to stay with your pets! My cousin would love watching my dog. I love meeting new fur babies and would love to help whenever I can with whatever you need!
“Elizabeth came highly recommended by another superb housesitter, and she lived up to every expectation. She sent regular check-ins, with photos of our pets showing them calm and content; and we returned to a house in fine order. Thanks, Beth!”

“Rebecca did a wonderful job with our one year old German Shepherd. She was professional, thorough and very responsive to me when I would check in. I appreciated her staying with our boy and will definitely reach out to her again!”

“Courteney was fantastic from start to finish! She was friendly and easy to communicate with when I scheduled. It was my first time using Rover and she helped me get set up. She came for a meet and greet to be introduced to our dog Pepper. During the meet and greet she was kind, respectful, and gave great attention to Pepper. It’s obvious by the way she interacted with Pepper that she works well with dogs and enjoys them. When the time came for her to watch our dog and stay at our house, I was confident she’d do a great job. I got frequent updates and photos of Pepper that helped me feel connected and confident in her care. Pepper said she had a great time with Courteney too:) We will definitely rebook!”

About: Dog CPR and First Aid certified. Your pet will be given lots of love and attention, and you can be sure they are with someone reliable. I can exercise your dog as much as needed. My own dog is high energy and I take him for runs, he goes in the stroller when he gets tired :) I have experience with senior dogs, puppies, dogs with medical conditions, allergies, and specific dietary needs. I can administer medication and I know how important it is to follow strict guidelines, as my own dog has severe allergies. I work from home so I am available most of the time. I don’t know why this section requires twenty five words, but it does. I have a fenced yard and one high energy fur baby of my own. Your dog can cuddle with us in the human bed, or you can bring their own! I do not have an extra crate, so you will need to bring one.
“We are so thankful to Rachel for taking great care of our senior pup at our home while we were on vacation, especially during a big winter storm. She was communicative and proactive with any questions that came up, will definitely reach out to her again.”

“Ashlyn did a fantastic job! She took excellent care of my dog and cat and they were very happy and content when we got home. The house was in excellent condition. We will be using Ashlyn often! I can’t thank her enough for the wonderful job that she did!”

About: I’ve never been bitten. I grew up around strays and my family trusted me to walk them. I lead a volunteer group for The Humane Society, and I just love dogs! They help me deal with military life. I’m big into hiking, and I WILL carry a dog first aid kit XD. I go to School M-F from 8AM-2PM, and Church Sun 8AM-1PM. I need the money, but I do it mostly as a passion project! Very high drive dog friendly. I live in a one bedroom apartment across the street from a MASSIVE dog park. I’m huge into fitness and nature, and I will WALK your dog in nature if you want.
“Emma watched Sadie while we were away for a day. She was communicative when needed, did everything we asked of her, and even stayed a little while extra to comfort Sadie when Sadie was afraid of fireworks going off outside. Sadie was cared for and in good spirits when we returned. We would happily book Emma again!”

About: I’m a dog (and cat!) mom looking for a fun way to keep myself accountable on my health journey! I’m a 41 year old mom to a teenage boy, a 9 year old yorkie mix (Severus), and 10 cats! I’ve been on a journey to better myself for the past year and one thing I make sure I do is get my steps in. I thought it would be a great idea to put myself out there to make some new dog friends and help keep me (and the doggos) getting our exercise in! I work full time from home Monday through Friday from 7am to 330pm. My walking availability is any time after my work day through the week, and open to anytime on the weekends. For sitting/drop ins, please inquire. For boarding, pets will be with me all day and night. I have 10+ years of experience caring for animals, my house is full of love, treats and toys! If you book me for services, you can be assured that same love will be given to your furry friend. Feeding schedules followed as provided by pet parent to ensure your pup is getting the required amount of food. My dog eats freely except when I’m boarding as to not disrupt any schedules. I currently have one dog (Severus), who is a yorkie mix and 10 total cats, some indoor/outdoor/mix. Our home gets hectic but we love our animals and can’t imagine life any differently.
“We’re very happy we found Susan! She was great with our dog and it’s clear she loves animals. Susan kept in touch with us throughout our vacation by sending photos and keeping us informed of how our dog was doing. It didn’t take long before we knew our pup was in great hands. We give Susan five stars and will definitely use her services again.”

About: I work at The Wag Dog Bar in Grandview! If your pups like other ones, let’s talk about the possibility of me bringing them for a few hours! If that makes you uncomfortable, no worries! I will still enjoy doing all other services to provide for your pup :) This position put me through a lot of training about dog behavior! I recently rescued my very own bully mix from the shelter. I am very comfortable with any and all pups! I am currently working two part time jobs so my schedules often changes! If you want to ask, please reach out and I will provide you my schedule for the whole week! My pup is like my child. I treat her with gentleness, just like I would your pup. I always have treats on hand (please let me know if your pup has any allergies!) I always go by the policy that the pup’s comfort and experience comes first!!
About: I’ve been around pets forever. I’ve sat for all sorts of pets and I’m very adaptable. I have lots of experience with multiples. I’m open to helping when I can and would love to chat about scheduling! I’ve babysat and pet sat for several years in clients homes, some overnight stays. I’m very responsible and amending. I’m excited to hear from you guys!
About: I have been watching since I was 20 years old. I watched friends dogs, siblings dogs and I used to have a Jack Russell beagle mix. His name was Milo. I work Monday through Friday, but I drove a truck. I’m on the road all day so I have the ability to come home. Check on the animals play with them. Feed them walk them throughout the day. I usually get off at 4 PM. No matter if I’m in some ways home or the animals are at my house I love to go out for walks with dogs and play with pets in general pet them. Let them sit on my life and just spend time with them so they never feel lonely.
“Zach was an excellent pet sitter! He provided daily photo updates, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. He made sure Rebel got a walk every day and took great care of all of our pets—Rebel, our dog, and Lilly and Bella, our cats. It was clear they were well cared for and comfortable while we were gone. We really appreciated his communication, reliability, and the care he showed our pets. We’d absolutely trust Zach to watch them again.”

“My pitty was very comfortable with Maggie and her sweet dog Willow while dog sitting in my house for 4 nights. I received daily photos and updates of their fun walks and snuggle time on the couch. We will definitely be using Maggie again in the future! She is a dog lover through and through. Plus, the house was spotless upon my return.”

“Riley did a wonderful job caring for my pups, even if two of them were reluctant to be her friends in the beginning! I appreciated the update photos and texts each day, and by the end of my trip all three dogs had adopted Riley as a friend.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Lake Darby walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Lake Darby maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Lake Darby choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Lake Darby. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
