“Kara was an absolute delight. She took great care of our animals including some extra TLS with a asthmatic cat. She was a delight to work with and I highly recommend her to anyone who needs pet sitter”

About: I’ve never been bitten. I grew up around strays and my family trusted me to walk them. I lead a volunteer group for The Humane Society, and I just love dogs! They help me deal with military life. I’m big into hiking, and I WILL carry a dog first aid kit XD. I go to School M-F from 8AM-2PM, and Church Sun 8AM-1PM. I need the money, but I do it mostly as a passion project! Very high drive dog friendly. I live in a one bedroom apartment across the street from a MASSIVE dog park. I’m huge into fitness and nature, and I will WALK your dog in nature if you want.
“Justin took care of our poochers for a test night. Our one doggie takes a bit longer to warm up, and Justin was kind enough to do multiple meet and greets, and a test night. He's been patient, caring, and accommodating to get the furries comfortable. Couldn't recommend him enough!”

“First time using Rover & can honestly say that I’ll be using it again after having Morgan as our puppy helper. By far one of the most knowledgeable, caring & kindest young lady’s you’ll come in contact with! Took such good care of our Frenchie & hopefully the next time we choose to use this service we’ll be able to choose her again! Side note - She’ll send you pictures of the puppy/dog periodically through the entire experience.”

“Courteney was fantastic from start to finish! She was friendly and easy to communicate with when I scheduled. It was my first time using Rover and she helped me get set up. She came for a meet and greet to be introduced to our dog Pepper. During the meet and greet she was kind, respectful, and gave great attention to Pepper. It’s obvious by the way she interacted with Pepper that she works well with dogs and enjoys them. When the time came for her to watch our dog and stay at our house, I was confident she’d do a great job. I got frequent updates and photos of Pepper that helped me feel connected and confident in her care. Pepper said she had a great time with Courteney too:) We will definitely rebook!”

“Elizabeth came highly recommended by another superb housesitter, and she lived up to every expectation. She sent regular check-ins, with photos of our pets showing them calm and content; and we returned to a house in fine order. Thanks, Beth!”

“Emma watched Sadie while we were away for a day. She was communicative when needed, did everything we asked of her, and even stayed a little while extra to comfort Sadie when Sadie was afraid of fireworks going off outside. Sadie was cared for and in good spirits when we returned. We would happily book Emma again!”

About: I have loved animals my whole life and have always had pets around me. I have experience caring for cats and dogs, including feeding, playing, walking, and providing a safe and loving environment. I am patient, responsible, and attentive to each pet’s needs. I have a flexible schedule and can dedicate plenty of time to caring for pets. I enjoy spending time with animals, providing attention, playtime, walks, and making sure they feel comfortable and loved while their owners are away. I always make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. I follow the owner’s instructions, keep a clean environment, provide fresh food and water, and give pets attention, playtime, and affection. I respect each pet’s routine and personality.
“Monica was great with my cat while I was away for over 2 weeks! I got lots of updates and pictures, she made sure he got his meds and plenty of cuddles, and I came home to a happy cat and a clean house. She was also very flexible and understanding when my travel plans got shifted and when my cat got a new prescription after I left. I would definitely book with her again and highly recommend!”

“Rachel did a great job watching our old man for a couple nights. Munchie is 19 and pretty low maintenance but has his quirks. Sent pictures throughout the day and let us know when he was up and about. Would ask her to watch him again!”
“Marissa was great! She saved me after a last minute cancellation. She is very communicative. She sent pictures of my cats constantly and would let me know when she was leaving in and out of the home. It looked like my cats really enjoyed her company and she enjoyed theirs. I would definitely book her again.”

About: I took care of my sister's dog for most of last summer and fall. I have developed strong dog-walking skills from this experience as she is quite the timid and confrontational dog. I have learned out to be extremely vigilant when walking a dog and I can read a dog's behavior as well as a human's at this point. My time management skills are par for the course and I have plenty of free time. I have plenty of free time – I have plenty of free time... there.. enough words. I have a fenced yard and beautful quiet neighborhood to walk your dog in. I can also learn the layout of any home and method for taking care of any dog by the standards of any owner within any home.
“Zach was an excellent pet sitter! He provided daily photo updates, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. He made sure Rebel got a walk every day and took great care of all of our pets—Rebel, our dog, and Lilly and Bella, our cats. It was clear they were well cared for and comfortable while we were gone. We really appreciated his communication, reliability, and the care he showed our pets. We’d absolutely trust Zach to watch them again.”

“Miss Penny was so professional and personal right from the beginning. She took such great care of our pups and sent tons of pictures. I will absolutely ask Miss Penny to watch our doggos again, and I would recommend her to anyone confidently.”

About: I’ve taken care of all sorts of animals since I could remember. Been around Great Danes to yorkies and love them all. I also have a cat and dog of my own both I’ve rescue and adore. I’ve also trained my dog, I’ve had her going on 3 years now. I train with positive attitude and treats. I was relied on by family and friends to watch, walk and feed their pets. Occasionally would do some basic training to help keep up and of course cuddles. I currently work full time but it’s from 7-2pm about 4 days a week. I will have time after work and on my off days to spend the rest of the day caring for pets. My pets are friendly with other animals, my dog gets excited when she gets to meet new friends and then goes about her business. I also have a crate for my dog if anything. I try to give the visiting pup a chance to sniff around first and get warmed up before I let my dog meet her. Allows both dogs to calm down and be relax by then.
About: I have been watching since I was 20 years old. I watched friends dogs, siblings dogs and I used to have a Jack Russell beagle mix. His name was Milo. I work Monday through Friday, but I drove a truck. I’m on the road all day so I have the ability to come home. Check on the animals play with them. Feed them walk them throughout the day. I usually get off at 4 PM. No matter if I’m in some ways home or the animals are at my house I love to go out for walks with dogs and play with pets in general pet them. Let them sit on my life and just spend time with them so they never feel lonely.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Darbydale
Justin was an awesome sitter for our two cats during a weeklong trip out of state! He was obviously great with our pets, easy to communicate with, and flexible to meet our needs. He was very respectful of our home as well, and left it looking the same if not better than we did :) We booked fairly last minute, and it was such a relief meeting Justin, and knowing our boys would be well taken care of. Thanks again Justin, we would love to book again in the future!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 1,516 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Darbydale. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Darbydale walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Darbydale maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Darbydale choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Darbydale. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
