“Monica helped me with a pretty short notice request. She followed instructions and really went above and beyond. She took my dog to a park and got him a pup cup and she didn’t have to do all that. Put me at ease while out of town knowing he was living his best life with Monica! I will absolutely be using Monica again when something comes up.”

“Rebecca did a wonderful job with our one year old German Shepherd. She was professional, thorough and very responsive to me when I would check in. I appreciated her staying with our boy and will definitely reach out to her again!”

“Ann was wonderful with our dog. She was very responsive to messages, and updated us all day while she was watching him. She came by and met him a few days before, and was really understanding about him being skittish near new people. Would definitely recommend her, and hope to work with her again in the future! Thanks Ann!”

“Beth was fantastic. Very trustworthy and struck a great balance between letting us know how our dogs were doing and letting us enjoy our trip in peace knowing they were in good hands! We would definitely go with her again.”

“Ashley is the best, she takes such good care of my boys, even if they are not behaving. She loves them like they are her own, she is one in a million so grateful for her.”
“Marissa was great! She saved me after a last minute cancellation. She is very communicative. She sent pictures of my cats constantly and would let me know when she was leaving in and out of the home. It looked like my cats really enjoyed her company and she enjoyed theirs. I would definitely book her again.”
“Maggie is a great sitter and love that she brings he dog for our very active healer mix to run around with. She’s great at communicating throughout and send great pictures! Will definitely use her again and again”

“Rachel did a great job watching our old man for a couple nights. Munchie is 19 and pretty low maintenance but has his quirks. Sent pictures throughout the day and let us know when he was up and about. Would ask her to watch him again!”
“Janel took care of our babies just like we would have! We received daily updates, pictures and videos! Definitely makes your heart feel good! Our babies just adore Janel and I would not hesitate to book with her anytime we need a reliable, honest and caring sitter.”

About: I've been a dog owner and animal lover my entire life, giving me firsthand experience caring for pets of all ages, sizes, and personalities. As a current pug and cat parent, I understand the importance of providing pets with a safe, loving, and reliable environment. I treat every pet as if they were my own and am committed to ensuring they feel comfortable, happy, and well cared for while you're away. Pet care fits well into my current schedule. I work a fulltime professional position during the weekdays, which allows me to provide pet care services during evenings, weekends, and select weekdays depending on the pet's needs. I'm organized, reliable, and committed to ensuring pets receive the attention, exercise, and care they deserve. We live in a community with walking paths and a couple of ponds that we enjoy walking to with our pups. I will be happy to walk yours through the neighborhood as well. As a lifelong dog owner and current pug and cat parent, I understand how important it is to trust someone with your pet, and I treat every animal as a member of my own family.
“Best dog sitter we’ve ever had! (And we’ve had quite a few). Katie is not only wonderful with our very high maintenance German shepherd, but she also left our home immaculate! Could not recommend her more!”

About: I've been around various dog breed since as a child. From as small as a chihuahua and dachshund to the size of german shepards and Rottweiler. My biggest thing with animals im general is just understanding their personalities and setting them up for success. Always easier than done but thats the challenge and its always rewarding for you and the animal with building long term friendship and goals! I think the challenging experience I've had with a close friend of mine who i see once a year dog sitting his 2 Belgium malnois, senior german shepherd and Rottweiler shepard mix. It was difficult as i had not met the 2 Belgium malnois in person but after being acquainted and exercising them it was a match made in heaven! My close friend hardly let anyone watch his dogs except his wife due to how the dogs are very particular with who they interact with. Other than that I'm excited to meet some fur babies could turn to potential friends with my baby boy! At this current time I work remotely for my full time job 8 to 5. I am very flexible on the weekends. During the day incase I am close enough to let your animal out to use the restroom and let them stretch their legs. I understand how important it is especially being away from home atleast 7hrs is hard for a dog. When it comes to safety I always make sure the dogs does not have access to areas that can cause them harm or they can get into. I've met some sneaky dogs over the years where you have to make sure the trash in a locked closet etc. Always thinking how to keep the dog safe as I would hope someone would do the same for my boy! In regard to trust just have to be patient with the fur baby and take things slow. As humans we dont trust strangers so your pet for sure wouldnt right away. Before agreeing to any service I would always would love to meet the animal atleast twice before fully going through the process to make sure everyone feels safe and secure.

About: I’ve pet sat for friends of friends and neighbors in KY for a few years and hope to do the same here. I love taking care of animals, I’ve had a few over the years including 2 dogs, 3 cats and a snake. I’ve been lucky enough to raise some of them from birth. On Wednesday to Friday the pets will have my undivided attention if needs be. I get off work at about 3 and still have all day to you pet. I am also fully flexible if plans change or if something comes up. I have stopped cat fights and created a Great Dane with little to no issues. Every dogs has his day. I’m also more worried about them than me.
“Zach was an excellent pet sitter! He provided daily photo updates, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. He made sure Rebel got a walk every day and took great care of all of our pets—Rebel, our dog, and Lilly and Bella, our cats. It was clear they were well cared for and comfortable while we were gone. We really appreciated his communication, reliability, and the care he showed our pets. We’d absolutely trust Zach to watch them again.”

“Joelle was reliable and did a great job taking care of our dog while we were out of town! We received a daily update with a photo to reassure us that everything was going well and that our dog was getting all the cuddle time she needed. I wouldn’t hesitate to book her again in the future.”

About: I have always been the go to in my family when pet care is needed when they travel. Cats, dogs and frogs. I am an aunt to humans as well and will be a good aunt to your pet. I was laid off and I have been doing different things while I figure out the next steps in life. I am home a lot during the day and evening as most of my side gigs are work from home so I could spend a lot of time with your baby. My apartment complex is pet friendly but I don't see a lot of dogs. I would leash the dog and take them around the property here for walks and bathroom breaks.
“Thea was great with the pups! Especially a 3 month old puppy which is not an easy job. She gave our dog their medicine, was great at communicating, and left the house in great shape for us. We’ll definitely reach out to her again!”

“Dominic was very professional and great a communicating while I was away from my dogs. He made me feel very comfortable that they would be well taken care of.”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Gillivan walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Gillivan maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Gillivan choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Gillivan. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
