“Lauren went above and beyond to make sure my furbabies were happy and comfortable while I was out of town for a week. She was very communicative and sent photo updates every day. I hesitate to trust people to watch my babies, but felt totally comfortable with Lauren after our meet and greet and she did a fantastic job with my pack (who really can be a handful at times!) Absolutely will book her again in the future.”

“Alexus was so sensitive to our nervous pup, Rusty’s needs! He’s new to us and was anxious about us going out; he apparently was jumping up thinking we were home every time the heat came on, so she turned down the temperature so he could be more relaxed. Thank you so much, Alexis!”

“Lam took great care of my pup and sent lots of photo updates throughout the weekend. She's my new go-to gal and I already have her booked for another stay!”

“Grace is the simply the best! I completely trusted her with our dog Millie, which is HUGE! Grace had great communication with me, I got daily updates and I even came home to printed out pictures of Millie. I didn't worry once about how well millie was being taken care of which was such a relief. 100% recommended Grace”

“As always, Ava takes great care of my Tallulah & Dennis. Always prompt and arrives when she says. I’m so appreciative of the great care she gives my 2. Especially my Dennis who doesn’t really like anyone but me. She provides regular updates and communicates often. I’m so appreciative and grateful. She is a blessing.”

“Vincent was super nice about helping us out at the last minute when a family emergency changed the availability of our usual dog sitter. Our dog Shiloh liked him right away! He kept us updated and took great care of Shiloh and our house.”

“Greg spent three weeks at our house looking after our beautiful dog Misty. Greg was wonderful, he cherished and cared for Misty as if she were his own. He also looked after the house, and kept us informed with pictures, videos, and texts, we have no complaints. I highly recommend Greg; you will not be disappointed.”

“Gabriel was quick to respond, flexible, and took amazing care of my two dogs who have very different energy levels. He was communicative while I was gone, and even stayed the night with them. You can tell he really loves animals and takes great care of them!”

“Skyler was a great pet sitter and house guest! She watched my two cats for a week. She shared a lot of updates and pictures the whole time. My cats were very happy and unbothered when I came home. I’ll definitely use Skyler again for future trips!”

“We thought Hoss did a terrific job. She was communicative, professional, and very loving to our two cats, who we like to describe as being needy. She sent us photos, kept us updated, and took care of the house. We couldn’t be happier.”

“Thanks to Juan for looking after our dog and home while we were on vacation. He provided regular updates and gave us piece of mind while we were far away for an extended trip.”

About: Before college, I was the primary caregiver for my family’s dog, Max—handling everything from daily walks and feeding to bathing, training, and playtime tailored to his pace and personality. That hands-on experience taught me how to read a dog’s needs and build trust through consistency and care. I’ve also cared for multiple pets through prior sitting experiences, including three dogs of different sizes and three cats, so I’m comfortable adapting to a variety of temperaments, routines, and energy levels. While in college, I’ve continued growing my experience by volunteering with a local shelter’s Doggy Day Out program, taking dogs on walks, hikes, and special outings to give them enrichment and a break from the shelter environment. These experiences have strengthened my ability to care for pets with patience, attentiveness, and genuine enthusiasm. I am currently a student at UNM and working part time, so my evenings are relatively free during the week. Friday afternoons - Sunday mornings are the best time for me to hangout with your pet and care for them full time. Your pet’s happiness, safety, and comfort will always be my top priority. I’ll make sure they get plenty of exercise, affection, and attention—whether that means long walks, playtime, or just lots of love and cuddles. If you choose house sitting, your pet won’t just be cared for—they’ll have a constant companion who keeps their routine consistent and stress-free. I also love taking pets on little adventures, like trips to nearby parks, to keep them engaged and happy. For your peace of mind, I’m happy to provide daily updates with photos and messages, so you always know your pet is safe, relaxed, and having a great time.
“Tatiana was great with our animals and house. She was comfortable with our shy dog and gave her the encouragement and space to feel safe with her, and provided us many updates while we were gone.”

“Regina did an excellent job caring for my dog and my house. My dog was so well adjusted by the time I got home, and I could tell that she really took care of him. She also took care of some plants that needed watering as well. She is a good communicator and follows through just as she says she will. I will definitely hire Reggie again.”

“Ethanee was so great with our anxious small dog Holly, who also just happened to injure herself right before our trip out of the country, so she needed medication and special treatment during our week away. Ethanee was communicative, sending us lots of updates, and left our house in great shape. Holly has a hard time with new people, but seemed to warm up to Ethanee right away! We felt so relieved that she was in good hands, and wouldn't hesitate to book Ethanee again!”

“Jaqueline was wonderful! Communicative and responsive, and my dog had a wonderful time with her. I didn’t worry for a second because of Jaqueline’s thoughtfulness and I appreciated her double checking when she wasn’t sure about something. Thank you Jaqueline!!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Albuquerque
Christina was great! From the moment she first met with my four large dogs you could tell that she is very experienced and comfortable with animals. That energy led to the dogs warming up to her immediately. She showed up on time and sent updates and photos throughout the stay. I highly recommend her!

I highly recommend Stephanie to care for your pets. She is kind, reliable, and an excellent communicator. It gave us such peace of mind knowing our pets were in her care. They were happy, well cared for, and we would absolutely love to have her back in the future.

When Colton first arrived at my house for a meet and greet my cats came out to meet him instead of hiding. My dog who barks at nearly everyone and is shy didn't bark and wanted to be around him. Colton is a gentle soul, very attentive and asks great questions. He took care of my three Maine Coons, my chickens and koi while I was gone a week. If he was unsure he didn't hesitate to contact me. He sent photo updates and checked in with me regularly. He followed my instructions perfectly. When I got home the house was clean and tidy. Colton is amazing. I'm so happy I found him.

Larkin was great at communicating and taking care of my kitten! She’s very friendly and took great care of our house as well. My kitten, who is often skittish around new people, was super comfortable with her and seemed content when I got home. So glad to have found such a responsible and kind person to hangout with my pet!

Sheri was an amazing dog sitter for us! She was extremely responsive, and kept us in the loop daily with what was going on. Sent pictures of the dogs every morning and let us know how they were doing. The dogs were happy and healthy when we got back! Would recommend Sheri every time.

Paloma went out of her way to care for our three adult/senior dogs and 15-week-old rescue puppy on relatively short notice, allowing us to spend much-needed quality time with family out of state. We had peace of mind the entire week we were away and returned to happy pets!

Riley was great - she is communicative, sweet, and took good care of my pup and house! My dog was on a couple of meds so was feeling off during her stay and she made sure to give him his meds and was understanding of his weird little behaviors. I had total peace of mind knowing he was in good hands while we were gone. Thanks you!! 😊

Rose is tremendous. she is sweet and the dog and 3 cats love her. She is responsible and respectful of staying in someone else's home. I am an anxious pet mama and really didn't worry at all with her in charge. she sent tons of great pictures and updates. I have already reserved her for 2 more stays, so happy to have her on our team.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Albuquerque walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Albuquerque maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Albuquerque choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
