“Lauren did a great job communicating what was going on with my cat while I was away. I really appreciated her willingness to be flexible, like turning on the AC for him, when needed. She’s a kind person who’s great with animals, and I’d definitely recommend booking with her!”

About: I’ve taken care of friends and neighbors animals all throughout college so I have lots of experience! I’m very nurturing and kind and I even have my own kitty that is very friendly. I have a flexible work schedule so I’m work from home most days. I love to go to the gym and go on walks. I am a home body so on the weekends I like to cook and prepare for the week. A typical day with your animal looks like playtime in the morning and a walk in the evening! If it’s a cat I make sure to play throughout the day and especially at night so they and I sleep well! If I am going to your home I will read and relax with them when I’m not playing with them and I will feed based on your schedule for your pet.
“Greg is amazing! He was able to help us out last minute and our Kenzie loved him. He spent time with both my cat and dog and gave them cuddles and attention when we were away. Highly recommend him!”

“Fiery is a great communicator, very prompt, and makes my dogs feel at ease very quickly! We just had her come for a drop-in and are going to book a 10-day stay. Her calm interaction and knowledge of pet care make me feel a lot more comfortable leaving my pups for that long.”

“Angela is a delight. She spends a lot of time with each pet, doing things that make each one feel comfortable and seen. She even cozied up on the floor to make a newer member of the pet family feel like home. She also sends tons of pictures, which is great! I love seeing them being well taken care of. Definitely will ask to help again in the future.”

“Eden was very flexible in working with me and I'm quite sure that my dog is very happy with her. I liked the info I got from the walk and the pictures were very nice to see. That helped me feel very comfortable that she was in good hands.”

“Alexus saved the day when she stepped in last minute when a sitter canceled on us. The dogs LOVED her and she was an amazing communicator. Highly recommend.”

About: I’m a biggg animal lover, a vegan of 10 years, former animal shelter worker & doggy foster mom🤍 a few years ago, I rescued my dog, Blue. Working with trainers for my own dog has deepened my commitment to positive reinforcement and understanding each dog’s unique needs. I’m a full-time registered nurse, so I’m confident administering medications and managing special care routines. I’ve worked with dogs of all sizes—from tiny companions to giant breeds—and I take the time to learn each dog’s quirks, preferences, and sensitivities to make sure they feel safe, happy, and understood. I live in an apartment with plenty of outdoor time, including long walks and play sessions, and I’m happy to help with feeding, training, and care. I currently only work 3 days a week, so I’m usually free the rest of my days off. I’m pretty flexible on scheduling things if you have any last minute needs. I work night shift, so if your dog is fine being left alone overnight let me know and I can board longer than my listed days! I have a pet cam to keep an eye on them overnight. Dog walking/drop-ins: I can come to your home, feed your pup breakfast/dinner, take them out for a quick potty break, play time, or go on a super long walk to tire them out! I’d love to know your dog’s routine, likes/dislikes, an level of energy! Doggy day care: Your dog can hang with me & mine for the day! Guaranteed fun times, cuddles, walks! I love making my space a welcoming & calm environment. I consider myself active, so if your dog is up for adventures/hikes, let me know! Your dog must be house trained & friendly with other dogs. Boarding: If your dog is being boarded with me, they’ll need to be friendly with other dogs, including my playful pup and occasionally my roommate’s small Shih Tzu-Yorkie mix. They also must be dropped off with a crate. I want to make sure they are safe & happy!
“Jessica was amazing! Every visit she spent quite a bit of time with Archer and sent 1-2 pictures each day, sometimes showing him eating and sometimes showing him getting cuddles. They clearly got along well, and he seemed happy and healthy when we returned. Jessica is quick to respond to texts, and even checked in with us on the last day to make sure we'd get back on time and Archer would be okay.”

About: I grew up in a household with pet dogs, mice, rats, hedgehogs, and frogs. I now am the proud owner of a rescue cat and have experience looking after everything from farm animals to ferrets. During my undergrad, I lived with a service dog trainer who had live-in dog students. I go out of my way to spend time with animals and love to help them be happy and healthy. Further, neighbors, friends, and family have relied on my to take care of their animals and house-sit for them since I was in high school. I am currently a PhD student at the University of New Mexico and work part time at the Maxwell Museum on Anthropology. I hold a busy, yet flexible, schedule and feel confident I can find time to walk, bike, or drive to take care of furry friends before and after work and throughout the day. Because my cat has a lot of anxiety around other animals, I do not offer in-home boarding. However, I am an active walker/jogger and would love to take out dog for a walk or run outside. For cats, I get real joy out of seeing them play or offering them head scratches. As my own pet has special requirements, I will diligently follow all your care instructions and treat your pet with the respect that I rest my own.
“Celeste is hands down the best pet sitter we ever had. We were so worried because we had an unexpected trip come up and were scrambling to find help with our pets. Celeste stepped up and helped us in our time of need. She went above and beyond to show us our pets were loved and well taken care of. I cannot sing her praises enough 💛💛💛”

About: I’ve always had a variety of pets in my house. Growing up my family cared for dogs, turtles, fish, hamsters, frogs, hermit crabs, and chickens. We never owned a cat because my mom is allergic to them but since I moved in with my auntie during university, I have lived with one and have loved it! With my grandma, we currently have 6 dogs! We had two (a chihuahua mixed with poodle and another mixed dog) who are the parents of the other four. I was the only one in my house present when my doggy gave birth to all her babies and I was more than excited to be there with her :) I’m a full-time university student at NMSU. I made this account because I plan to be available everyday during my breaks. This might change for a couple of days but I’m not sure yet. Since I will be on break I also plan to be available nights and weekends. My dogs are family dogs and live outside. I don’t have a house of my own but live with my grandma and mom along with my three siblings and one cousin. The dogs are cared for amongst all family members.
About: Before college, I was the primary caregiver for my family’s dog, Max—handling everything from daily walks and feeding to bathing, training, and playtime tailored to his pace and personality. That hands-on experience taught me how to read a dog’s needs and build trust through consistency and care. I’ve also cared for multiple pets through prior sitting experiences, including three dogs of different sizes and three cats, so I’m comfortable adapting to a variety of temperaments, routines, and energy levels. While in college, I’ve continued growing my experience by volunteering with a local shelter’s Doggy Day Out program, taking dogs on walks, hikes, and special outings to give them enrichment and a break from the shelter environment. These experiences have strengthened my ability to care for pets with patience, attentiveness, and genuine enthusiasm. I am currently a student at UNM and working part time, so my evenings are relatively free during the week. Friday afternoons - Sunday mornings are the best time for me to hangout with your pet and care for them full time. Your pet’s happiness, safety, and comfort will always be my top priority. I’ll make sure they get plenty of exercise, affection, and attention—whether that means long walks, playtime, or just lots of love and cuddles. If you choose house sitting, your pet won’t just be cared for—they’ll have a constant companion who keeps their routine consistent and stress-free. I also love taking pets on little adventures, like trips to nearby parks, to keep them engaged and happy. For your peace of mind, I’m happy to provide daily updates with photos and messages, so you always know your pet is safe, relaxed, and having a great time.
“Laurie was great with our dog. She was very attentive and made sure to keep us informed of everything that was going on during her visit visits. I would definitely use her again. Our dog is very timid and scared and she did everything she could to make sure he was comfortable while we were gone.”

About: I've grown up with animals my whole life, regularly assisting my mom with her own pet sitting jobs since I was about 14 years old and receiving my own clients when I became an adult. I have been employed at a local Animal Shelter since 2024, having gained lots of Fear Free handling and medicating experience with both dogs and cats. I also have 3 cats of my own and my roommate has 3 cats as well, with varying personalities/sensitivities. I have full availability on Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday, and work Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday with a set schedule from 8am-6pm. I do get an hour lunch so I can also make a quick visit during that time. I've learned Fear Free handling methods from my workplace, regularly practicing patience and reading a pet's body language to understand when they start to become uncomfortable. I will adjust to your pet's needs to make this time as comfortable as I can.
“Brigit was great! She even helped bring a food delivery in that we forgot to cancel and made sure our chickens had water. Would definitely recommend, she sent pictures everyday which we loved!”

“Skyler did such a great job catsitting for our two kitties!! She was very communicative and sent pictures while we were gone. Skyler made sure she knew how to administer our cats medications before we left, and we felt confident in her with her past experience. I would definitely recommend Skyler to anyone needing a reliable pet sitter:)”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Albuquerque
We hired Levi to watch our cats while gone for 3 weeks out of the country. He did multiple daily checks that involved several tasks, including litter management, feeding, playing, and also took care of our plants. He was easy to get ahold of and is great to work with. Will definitely be using him again.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
