“Cindy is great! If you see pictures of a very handsome gray cat on her profile he’s mine! She always sends us pics of him while we’re away. She does a great job with him and the house is spotless after her stay.”

“Laurie is amazing! She is such a great communicator and made the whole process super stress-free. Ellie really loved her too and seemed almost sad it was me walking thru the door and not Laurie!”

“Victoria’s calm, confident personality made her the ideal sitter for our 3 dogs during the Thanksgiving holiday. She has outstanding communication skills and kept us informed about our pups through daily texts, photos, and video. She was authentically interested in the well-being of our pups and went above and beyond to help one of them overcome her shyness and slight case of loose stool! Our dogs had a great time while we were away and were in great shape when we returned. In other words, Victoria is an outstanding dog sitter!”

“Whitney was the best choice I could’ve ever made or had for watching my sweet Charlie. I hadn’t ever used Rover so I was a bit nervous. Whitney kept in contact with me, sent me pics of my sweet Charlie, and went above and beyond. I couldn’t sing her praises enough! I already told her I want to rebook with her in a few months when I go out of town again. Absolutely recommend her!!”

“Amber was so professional, responsive and very sweet! She stayed at my house and when I got back from my trip it was exactly as I left it. She sent me photos and videos of my Stout and kept me updated on how he was. I would definitely recommend her and will be rebooking!”

About: I have taken care of many rescues and have housed many dogs and cats. I have always been the go to when it comes to watching people’s pets! I also enjoy long walks to the park! I am currently on break from school, and I only work part time in my day job! I am free in the mornings and at nights to assist with animal care! I can stay all day on the weekends and come see them for an early morning walk and be back by 4pm for another walk and some cuddles! I have three senior dogs! They all have arthritis and are very old so I’m not able to take them out for long walks, but I do push them in a wagon so they can get fresh air! One of my senior citizens is blind and deaf so having another dog around him might spook him, but I can watch the home and pet for you!😆❤️
About: I am an avid animal lover and love my own dogs more than I like most people! I have watched and walked dogs for neighbors, friends, and family members for at least ten years as a side job and just a hobby. I volunteer with a local animal shelter and walk their dogs at least once a week, and it’s the best time. I love interacting with animals and getting to be a part of their day. I work remotely, so I have my days and nights to walk, visit, and sit with your pet. They are my priority when I am with them and I love giving them all of my attention. You can expect your pets to be spoiled rotten while you are away. ❤️ My own two dogs have very different schedules. My 15 year old goes out potty at least every two to three hours and enjoys his short, but refreshing strolls. My 9 year old hates mornings and won’t probably leave the bedroom until much later. Her and I will go at least a couple miles on one of our walks and even then she’s not tired out! In my clients home, I always try to leave the home the way it is found after playing with your pet. I follow instructions to the letter when it comes to pet sitting, as I have had to care for senior dogs with special dietary and medical needs. If I have questions, I will always ask.
“Juan was great! He came to my house last minute while my husband was in the hospital and stayed with Bacon for us. He took great care of our baby. He actually had him come back the next day to help again.”

“Danny helped us out by spending the day with our puppy after her surgery. It was so nice to know she was well taken care of. As always, Danny is super easy to communicate with and takes great care of our pets and home.”

“Erika is AMAZING. She is not only a wonderful human being, but she's incredible with my dog and cat! So much so I think they'd like to trade me in for her (!!).. which is a bit sad, but truly what every furbaby parent wants. She sent lots of pics and videos, kept the house amazingly clean, was super attentive to details ... I'd really love to give her a 10-star review!”

“Kat is the BEST!!! Our dog and cat adore this sitter. Kat sent pictures daily of the animals. Very grateful to have found this super reliable animal lover. After being gone for a week, didn't feel stressed at all leaving our home and pets.”

“This is my second time working with Sheyenne for house sitting in my home, and it has been a great experience each time. I have complete peace of mind knowing my dog and cat are well cared for when I’m away. Even my shy cat cuddles with her 🥰 Sheyenne is reliable, trustworthy, and an excellent communicator. I highly recommend her and will definitely be booking with her again!”

“Mary took care of Trixie for 30 days. She is a very caring and thoughtful person. Trixie was in excellent hands with Mary. I highly recommend that you give Mary a try with your pets.”

“Abigail helped us in a very hectic moment. We needed someone for a few hours and she replied within a minute of the request. She was willing to FaceTime and chat and headed to our place immediately. She was also very responsive during the sit. It eased a lot of anxiety I had (unrelated to her). I highly recommend Abigail.”

About: As a life long pet owner, I have had great report with animals of all sizes. I have trained and enjoyed a kennel free environment. All my dogs have had happy lives and great disposition with kids and other animals. I will provide a safe and loving home for your dog where they will receive a ton of love and petting. I love that my dog will follow me around and look for any moment to get petting and affection; even will force my bathroom door open, knowing I am a captive audience. I look forward to doing the same for your pooch. I have walked dogs both short and long distances. Thank you for your consideration and look forward to meeting your family member (dog).
“Svetlana was great with our 3 pugs. She sent pics and video while we were out, which really put us at ease since this was our first time working with her. She stayed at our home to watch our babies and she left the house just as it was when she arrived. During the meet and greet, all 3 dogs went straight to Svetlana without hesitation. One of our pugs is more skittish around strangers, so this was a great sign to start. They all seemed to love her right away, and still seemed to when we returned from our vacation. She even brought in and secured some packages that we forgot were arriving during our vacation. We'll definitely be working with Svetlana again in the near future.”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Placitas on Rover is $72.15 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Placitas walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Placitas maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Placitas choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Placitas. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 91% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
