“This is my very first time using Rover to gin weekend did a wonderful job caring for my 2 year old cat Ninja over the weekend. Colleen’s home was clean and she’s seems to have alot of experience dealing with pets. My cat had never been around a dog before, and Colleen took the time to allow them to acquaint them and they just left each other alone, no fighting.”

“Karen is wonderful, I’ve had her look after my cat 3 times now. When I’m looking for a sitter I don’t hesitate but reach out to Karen as my cat also loves her! I trust Karen, both her and her husband are really nice people and I will be having my cat board at their house again:))”

“Rachel was really great! She was really warm and friendly and kept us up to date with photos and details about our 2 girls during their stay. Highly recommend! Will definitely book Rachel again.”

“This is our first time using Rover for our dog Jacoby. We were so nervous about it because Jacoby is super timid and shy. Sarah made us so comfortable. She communicated with us daily on his progress with messages and pictures. She had him so comfortable by the end of the week he was sleeping with her! She is fabulous and we were so lucky to find her!”

“We were very pleased to have our dog stay with Whitney. We appreciated the updates which kept us assured our dog was doing well. We look forward to working with Whitney again!”

“Melissa was great with Lilly and very accommodating with our small change in the number of days that she was needed. She sent pictures so that I could see that my pup was getting along well with the other dogs that she had which I was worried about. It was clear that she loves dogs and had a good command of discipline them. I will use her again and recommend her to others. A big thank you!!”

“I don’t often leave my dog with strangers. CiCi and I went for a meet and greet before the start of her stay and I knew instantly that I found the perfect person to keep CiCi while I was away I only hope that she’s available again if I need dog sitting services again”

“Alexandra was a great sitter for our pups Boone and George! She was incredibly communicative and shared lots of updates about how the boys were doing. She helped us last minute when we were traveling nearby and we are so grateful!”

“We absolutely love Geosselyn! She took care of our cat over our Hawaii vacaction for about a week, gave him all his meds without trouble, and gave him his own little room and are and tower to play on. She also had cameras on him which was nice, and took pictures that she sent to us to relive our stress! Couldn’t be any happier honestly”

“Barbra is wonderful with our Charlie. I can see from his interactions with her that he trusts her and is so comfortable there. She is kind, accommodating, and has excellent communication. Charlie always comes home happy after a stay!”

“Erin was a wonderful pet sitter. She hosted our nervous pittie at her house for a week. He had never stayed elsewhere overnight and she made him feel right at home. She was also gracious enough to unexpectedly host him for an additional day. I can't recommend Erin enough - her reliability, flexibility, warm disposition, and regular communication were exactly what we needed in order to enjoy our trip.”

“We were very happy with the care our dog received while we were on vacation. We got numerous pictures, and our dog seemed to be on vacation too! Thank you for taking good care of Kona!”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
