I can come to you for pick up!Springfield, VA

My husband and I both grew up with dogs, so the number of years of experience is a bit of a misnomer. We've had dogs of our own as part of our now nuclear family of five for about five years, but both of our families growing up always had dogs (we just weren't 100% responsible for them). Most recently we rescued a (senior) lab more than a year ago from City Dog Rescue, and installed a 4-foot high fence for her to have a safe place to roam. But she is older and pretty mellow, so she doesn't really take as much advantage of our spacious yard as she could! We have rescued several dogs over the years, so we have likely dealt with any issues you may have experienced with your own dogs (to include shyness, excessive "feistiness" and dog reactivity). We are flexible and understand plans change, and just want to try to help out fellow dog owners as we know owning them can be pricey!

I have travel crates for both small and large (up to about 80-90 lbs) dogs, so I can come to you if necessary. I don't work outside of the home because of our youngest kiddo, so your dog would have companionship much of the day, save the hour or two of errands here and there. We will respect your own dog rules (etc. while our own dog is trained not to sit on furniture, we allow other dogs on the couch/bed, etc if that is what they are used to).

Our dog is a little picky and takes more warming up to larger dogs, which is why we only host smaller/medium-sized dogs. She just requires a slow, proper introduction. Smaller dogs do not tend to pose an issue for her.

Please note that since we do have young children, we cannot accept dogs that have shown aggression toward children.

Warm Colonial Home Welcome All PupsAnnandale, VA

Hi everyone! We are a recently married couple who just bought a single family home in Annandale. We absolutely love dogs and our own just recently passed away. We aren't ready to rescue another but we thought we would ease ourselves in the process by looking after other dogs!

Let me tell you a little about our family: I work from home Monday - Friday and will be the main caretakers of the pups. I generally take the pups out for a walk in our local park, Holmes Run Park, three times a day. If your dog isn't comfortable with walks, we can let them out in our fully fenced in yard. We live in a single family home so they will have access to the entire house and yard! Belly rubs, TV, radio, and squirrel chasing all inclusive! ;) My husband also works from home two days a week and will help with walks!

Thank you for considering us! We would love to pamper your pup and be a part of their home away from home!

Drop off and pickup times: anytime between 8am - 11pm

We are ideally situated, three miles from Old Town Alexandria, six miles from Mt. Vernon and 10 miles from Washington DC.

A Doggy Shangri-LaAlexandria, VA

Hi there, I'm Nicole and welcome to Doggy Shangri-La. When your dog stays with me they can enjoy a beautiful, peaceful home away from home. I can't wait to meet both of you.

In our home your dog can roam freely from room to room and spend time in a family environment where they will be treated just like our own dogs. They can curl up in front of our fireplace on a cold winter night or stretch out under a shady tree on a lazy summer day. If your pup feels like they just need a minute to themselves, thats not a problem. We have a private suite where they can relax on a plush dog bed with a peanut butter Kong. We also have a very large yard shaded by white oak trees that keep our secure fenced in area cool. When it's hot your dog can enjoy nice bowls of ice water. This yard is doggy paradise, it's littered with bones, jolly balls, frisbees, tennis balls and of course lots sticks if they like a natural touch!

My husband and I have been caring for dogs for over 20 years. We love all breeds whether pure or mixed. We also have been volunteering for a local rescue for German Shepherds for over a year now. We have fostered 32 dogs in total and have helped them find their forever homes. We have experience with separation anxiety, post op care, toy aggression, and dog aggression. We have three pups ourselves, two German Shepherds and a Great Dane who love to meet and play with new friends.

We can't wait to meet you and your furry friend. Please reach out to me if you'd like to set up a meet and greet.

Your Dog Will Feel Right At Home!Columbia Heights West, Arlington, VA

Hello! I've been working for rover for 4 years now and just had my new home split in half by a tree and almost lost my life to it! all money gained by taking care of your pups will be used to get a new home and continue housing our furry little guests! That being said, they will be invited to relax and play with us at our home where we offer overnight stays and doggy daycare. Our neighborhood is filled with dog lovers with every other neighbor having a dog. It is really close to the Arlington Nature Center where we usually walk our dogs, Atilla and Haka. Our walks are great for dogs during summer because of all of the trees providing shade and a nice beautiful stream going by the entire walk which leads to a dog park. Our backyard is small but we don’t plan to keep them out all day because we think that’s a little boring. We want your dog to feel at home and have them excited to go out for long walks and the dog park and return happily exhausted from a long day of playing. **I do ask that all owners book as soon as possible because we do work in a first come first serve bases with a lot of clients asking for certain dates ahead of time** Thank you!

About this sitter:

My name is Cendy. I originally worked with Rover in Arlington but moved to north Carolina only to lose my home to the hurricane but I'm back in arlington and plan on staying here. I have a lot of experience walking big and small dogs and enjoy bikejoring with my husky. I've taught my own dog a few tricks like; sit, shake, spin, roll over, and play dead and wouldn't mind showing yours. I am a certified veterinary assistant and dog and cat first aid and CPR certified. I also have 11 years of personal experience with a dog of my own named Shorty. I will help your dogs feel right at home!

Why I love dog sitting

I've been a dog lover all my life. When I finally got my own dog I was beyond happy and took the time to learn about all kinds of breeds. My interest in dogs made me even more interested in all kinds of animals and that is how I learned that I wanted to be a veterinarian

About my yard

I have a small backyard that is fenced in but my front yard makes up for it because it is relatively big and has a tree in the center for shade.

My experience administering medication

I can oral, aural, and ophthalmic medication. I do not mind learning other methods of administering medication

Active, stay-at-home dog mom!Woodbridge, VA

My husband and I are natives to Northern Virginia. My professional training is in Health & Fitness. We've both been athletes our whole lives, are extremely active, and love caring for different animals! Our pup loves meeting new friends. In the event that we host your pup in our home, you can feel at ease, as our pup is trained and certified as a Canine Good Citizen by the American Kennel Club. Taking care of our animal friends is my full-time responsibility, and I couldn't be happier doing it. My husband, Eric, works full time, but happily involves himself in the care of the animals too.

*Experience:

In 2014, we started caring for our familiy’s and neighbors' dogs in the various places that we've lived. We rescued our mixed breed, female Eva in April 2015 at 9 months old. We've enjoyed caring for animals so much that it was only natural for us to become Rover sitters. Since then, we've cared for many different animals - cats, parrots, fish, and dogs 7 lbs. up to 176 lbs. - from young to seniors with different medical issues, personalities, and needs. I've also cared for fosters in others' homes.

*Special Skills

I am certified in Canine Safety Practices.

We are familiar with special needs: blindness, epilepsy, allergies, convalescent pups, and cats and dogs with separation anxiety/nervousness.

Our dog suffers from seizures; we have extensive knowledge on how to manage them.

We have worked with Sit Means Sit to train our dog, and we can provide a very calm, assertive demeanor to make everyone feel comfortable.

Our dog has been on a raw diet since March of 2018. We are knowledgeable with that type of meal plan as well as any other unique dietary needs.

** The boring, but important details**
