“Sophia is a fantastic host! Along with sending us daily updates, giving Trevi lots of walks and love Sophia quickly made our shy girl feel right at home. Which made our time away much better! Trevi is looking forward to her next stay with Sophia!”

“Thank you again so much Evvery for taking such amazing care of our fussy boy, Kingsley! Every time we go out of town - Evvery brings us such peace of mind because she is absolutely fantastic with Kingsley and knows exactly what he needs and wants at all times. I also know that Kingsley loves her cozy home!! He always comes back peaceful, happy, and refreshed from his "doggie-vacay"! Can't wait to book another wonderful stay with you! :)”
“Gail and Kris are friendly, professional, knowledgeable and fun. Their home is clean, tidy, and pet friendly. Mack (our 35 lb Boston Terrier) had the absolute best time while staying with them for the first time. And their photography skills are beyond. When I picked him up, he didn’t want to leave! We will absolutely be returning!”

“We had a wonderful experience with Amanda watching our puppy for 9 days! She was incredibly kind, accommodating, reliable, and responsible. She took the time to ask about all of his routines and our instructions beforehand, followed everything to the letter, and kept us updated with lots of pictures and videos. She was also very flexible when we needed to adjust our pickup time. It’s clear she genuinely loves dogs, and we felt confident knowing our pup was in such caring hands. We would absolutely recommend her and will happily book with her again!”

“Merline took great care of Sarge and provided daily updates. She gave him yummy treats and gave him extra people food to go along with his regular dog food. When Sarge didn’t want to go upstairs to sleep at night, she joined him downstairs so he wouldn’t be alone. Her family also looked after Sarge and showered him with love. When I picked up Sarge, he was very calm and relaxed, which tells me that he had a good time while away from his family.”

“Chose Gena as my first Rover stay ever and was not disappointed! Gena kept me updated my entire trip away and took great care of our puppy. It was great that our puppy had a friend to play with the entire time and free roam of the home as well. Will definitely be staying with Gena again!”

“Sharon was our first dog sitter on Rover and we are so glad that we found her. She made us so comfortable with all of her communication, pictures and updates. We felt that our dog was in great hands and that she was loved and happy in our absence. We are looking forward to using Sharon again when we travel.”

“Piero and his family did a wonderful job taking care of my two dogs. They were willing to accommodate my dogs’ feeding and potty habits, but I also trusted them to do what would work best and what fit with the household’s vibe while my dogs were their guests. Communication was great, and they sent photos and videos of the dogs’ stay. Would definitely use Piero for boarding or grooming again!”

“Brandon was fantastic with Bailey this weekend. He was dependable, communicative, and took great care of her throughout the stay. Bailey was happy and well cared for when we returned, which gave us complete peace of mind. We would gladly book with Brandon again and highly recommend him!”

“Lauren was wonderful with Yoshi and Bella. Who are two very different dogs with very different temperaments. She has a comfortable and loving home with plenty of space for play. We will be back.”

“Todd is wonderful for boarding our dogs. Although Pepper, the male dog, is scared of everything due to his trauma of being a street dog in Oman, Pepper became comfortable with Todd in less than 10 minutes. Todd took our dogs for a walk to the park next to his house almost every day and our dogs were having a good time walking in the forest. Our dogs love to go out in the backyard. Todd's fenced backyard gave a nice playground for our dogs. Thank you, Todd !!”

“Raghavi and her family were AMAZING!!! It was my first time booking a pet sitter, so I didn't really know what to expect, but I got so lucky! Raghavi let me do a little meet-and-greet before I even booked to make sure that Ryder was comfortable with her dog, which put me so at ease, and during the boarding itself, was so accommodating with Ryder's schedule (and went above and beyond by sending me lots of photos while I was away, which was such an unexpected but very nice and much appreciated surprise!) She was so easy to get in touch with, and when I needed an emergency extra couple of days covered, she was so flexible and easygoing about it. Definitely booking again!!! :)”

“Hannie was a great sitter! I had to find somebody to watch over my dog last minute due to an event I was supposed to attend. She came to the rescue! Easy to communicate with and catered to all of Teddy’s needs - sent lots of videos and photos as well! :) Definitely book her, she’s amazing!!”

“Shadid was great! She made me feel very comfortable (and my puppy)! She sent me multiple pictures and a video even though it was a 14 hour stay. It was easy to fall asleep knowing daisy was in great hands!”
About: Just beginning to do pet care, but have been a dog owner for over 50 years and a cat owner for over 40 years. Have also owned small animals (ferrets). I am currently retired so I have a very flexible schedule. Would be able to come to your house or do day care at my resident. Right now I have 1 dog and 3 cats so your pet will have interaction with other animals. Can grate your pet if needed. Live near a field so your pet will get get good walks.
“Memphoo was taken very well at Austin’s. Austin always kept us posted with texts, photos and videos everyday. He always gladly did everything that is good for my fur baby. I felt good to leave my dog to him, Will definitely hire him again.”
About: I’ve been caring for dogs among friends and neighbors for years. I love getting to know each dog’s unique personality and making sure they feel comfortable, loved, and right at home while they’re in my care. Also, my schedule allows me to be home most of the day, which means frequent potty breaks, plenty of supervision, and lots of one-on-one attention! I have a flexible schedule and am home most of the day. Caring for pets is already a regular part of my life, so providing walks, playtime, feeding, medication administration, potty breaks, and plenty of attention throughout the day is easy to incorporate into my schedule. Your dog’s safety, comfort, and happiness are my top priorities. I follow each pet’s routine carefully, maintain a clean, calm environment, and treat every dog like a member of my own family.

Sayuri was an absolute pleasure to work with when boarding our dog! Her backyard is fully fenced and has plenty of room for dogs to run around and play. Her dog, Layla, and ours got along wonderfully. Sayuri kept me updated with pictures throughout the stay, and scheduling was easy and seamless. Most importantly, our dog came home happy! We would happily recommend Sayuri to anyone looking for a caring and reliable person to look after their furry family member.

This is the second time we have left Sarge with Merline and we were very happy with the care that Sarge received. He stayed with Merline for almost 3 weeks and was very calm and relaxed when we picked him up. Merline sent updates on Sarge and showered him with special treats and love. It was clear that he enjoyed his stay at her house.

Dianne was amazing! Kaia felt right at home at her place and seems to have gotten along really well with Kona. Dianne was very thoughtful about acclimating Kaia to her home and then creating a safe way to introduce Kaia and Kona. She took great care of Kaia while I was gone, proactively sent updates and photos. I wouldn't hesitate to re-book.

Brandon was fantastic with Bailey this weekend. He was dependable, communicative, and took great care of her throughout the stay. Bailey was happy and well cared for when we returned, which gave us complete peace of mind. We would gladly book with Brandon again and highly recommend him!

First time using Rover and was a little nervous but Ashley treated Violet (my pup) like her own. Her and her family kept her entertained and sent me updates through her stay. Couldn’t be more satisfied with trusting Ashley with Violet. My pup was so worn out from the playtime she slept the entire car ride home. Definitely will be booking for her next stay. Thank you Ashley!

Shelley was amazing, and my dog Marley had a great time!! She sent lots of pictures and updates, which I really appreciated, and she was so accommodating with his health issues. It was such a relief knowing he was in such good hands. I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter! (:

We had such a wonderful experience with Oyin Damola! From our very first communication, she was incredibly responsive, professional, and kind. She took the time to do a meet-and-greet beforehand, and she was so friendly, welcoming, and accommodating that I immediately felt comfortable leaving our dog in her care. Our dog had an amazing stay and was clearly well cared for and loved. Oyin was attentive, caring, and made the entire experience smooth and stress-free. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing our dog was in such good hands. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and will definitely continue using Oyin in the future. She was absolutely amazing, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate dog sitter!

Our fur-baby Charley looked like he enjoyed his stay with Terry and Shep. Because they provided daily updates, pictures, and videos we could see he was happy and content. I would highly recommend Terry and Shep to anyone looking for a pet sitter. They have a very nice house and yard so we felt very comfortable leaving Charley there. We can not thank them enough for taking such excellent care of Charley and reducing our anxiety due to leaving him with "strangers". We will definitely be reaching out to them again when we need a pet sitter.

Mary was absolutely fantastic with my dog. Reliable, communicative, professional, and clearly someone who genuinely cares about animals. I got regular updates, photos, and total peace of mind knowing my pup was in great hands. My dog came back happy, relaxed, and probably wondering why I can’t provide five-star service and belly rubs full time. Highly recommend Mary to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring Rover walker!

Very happy with our boarding. We have two old dogs, one of which is blind, that were well cared for by Rachael. I also appreciated them accepting the boarding on short notice, their prompt responses, and cheerful attitude. Will absolutely board again with them in the future if they are available.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Wildcat Forest home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Wildcat Forest.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Wildcat Forest sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
