“Chelsea was amazing with our dogs who can be a bit particular. We have 3 senior dogs, 2 of which take medication. She communicated every day and sent picture updates. She was outstanding for our fur babies and allowed us to have a worry free Christmas out of town. Thank you Chelsea!!!”

“Susan took great care of Sullivan while out of town for one night. She successfully administered his medication, gave him lots of cuddles & outside time & provided pictures as well as updates. She was also very willing to help out with a last-minute request. We definitely plan to use Susan again in the future!”

“Jen was wonderful! We have an overly energetic GSP puppy who is not the easiest to handle. Birdie took to Jen right away and usually takes much longer to warm up to strangers. Jen was very thorough and kept us posted. Highly recommend Jen for anyone’s fur baby.”

“We are very pleased with Britta and how she cared for our pets this past two weeks. She sent pictures and comments every day, she took Boone to the vet when he was limping and followed up with the vet and with us. She took our dogs to the dog park and played ball with them regularly. She gave a lot of attention to our spoiled and needy cats. Britta is a very responsible and capable sitter, friendly, happy, and we looked forward to hearing from here every day. We highly recommend her services and will definitely use her services again. We feel as though we have made a new and good friend in Britta”

“Felt very heard and listened to when it came to what I wanted for my cats. Was very respectful of my home and everything. I have a cat who has had a lot of problems in the past but she handled everything with grace and made my feel comfortable about leaving my babies. Overall, AMAZING!”

About: I stand out as a sitter because I genuinely love animals and treat every pet like they’re my own. I’m patient, dependable, and attentive to each pet’s personality and needs. I have experience caring for my own dog, so I understand the importance of exercise, routine, affection, and safety. Whether your pet needs a fun walk, playtime, cuddles, or calm companionship, I’ll make sure they feel comfortable and cared for while you’re away. I work downtown at the new V Modern Italian Restaurant, so my mornings are usually pretty open. If I am available in the afternoon I am more than happy to walk, sit, or just check in on your dogs. I provide a safe, calm, and loving environment where pets are treated like family. I always follow your pet’s routine, feeding schedule, and any special instructions. I pay close attention during walks and playtime to keep them safe and comfortable. In your home, I’m respectful, clean, and make sure your pet feels secure while you’re away.

About: I've spent years caring for animals with a variety of personalities, ages, and needs. Living with a Great Dane has made me very comfortable handling large and giant breeds, and caring for my Labrador through her 17th year gave me plenty of experience with the extra patience and attention senior dogs need. I'm also experienced in administering insulin injections and following medication schedules for pets with medical needs. No matter your animal’s age, size, or routine, I'll make sure they receive attentive, compassionate care and feel right at home while you're away. Pet care fits naturally into my routine because I have a flexible schedule that allows me to make time for the pets in my care. I typically finish work by 3 PM, and I also have two days each week where I work from home, giving me extra availability and flexibility throughout the day. When needed, I can also use my lunch break to check in on your pets and make sure they’re doing well. I’m available for evening and weekend care as well, allowing me to provide consistent attention, companionship, and support for your pet’s daily routine. I provide pet care in my client’s home, where I can help pets feel comfortable by keeping their familiar routines and surroundings. I understand that every pet has their own needs, so I focus on providing attentive, reliable care that includes feeding, playtime, walks, medication needs, and plenty of companionship. I’m available for weekday visits, evenings, and weekends, and I also offer daily walks and evening walks to help keep pets happy, active, and well cared for while their owners are away.
“Our pups were happy and tired out which tells me Aaron kept them active. Aaron sent pictures daily and kept us up to date on how things were going. As first time users of Rover, we got super lucky with Aaron. We have already rebooked!”

“Dwana and Chuck were amazing! They sent tons of pictures and took excellent care of Sylvie and our home while we were away. We will definitely book with them again!”

“She was a wonderful sitter for our little guy! He’s an anxious dog and after her care, he’s the calmest we’ve seen. She sent plenty of photos and gave us quick replies! ☺️”

EXCELLENT! She cared about all the small details so she could take care of my pets just like I do. Very kind and you can tell she cares about your pets. Got wonderful daily pictures. I didn’t worry at all while I was away as I knew Jennifer was taking the best care of my babies. I will definitely be using again!

Mariah was a dream! Her attention to detail and excellent communication kept us assured that our dogs and ducks were in good hands while we were out of town. It was such a relief to find someone trustworthy and responsible to care for our animals and house and we will definitely be singing her praises and contacting her for future trips!

Lovely lovely lovely! Kate made sure my puppy Rhubarb was well taken care of while I was out of town. I received photos and videos and updates while I was away, and she went above and beyond to make sure everything was running smoothly in my absence. I came home to a tidy house and even a home-made dog cookie in the fridge for little Rhu! Will be reaching out to Kate again if I need a sitter- no question! ✨🙌

Marisa was great with my boys! I felt totally at ease with her watching them in my home. She was great at communication and sending pictures. I was looking for someone to spend most of thier time in the home with my babies and she was able to do just that. Even went so far as to let me know when she was leaving and when to expect her back. Marisa made being out of town for the holidays stress-free. I would recommend her services to anyone and plan to book with her again!

Nicole was so lovely and took such good care of our babies while we were away! She was very respectful of our space and was so easy to check in with. Our dogs were even slow to warm up to her, but she was so patient with them and they were obsessed by the end of the weekend! We can’t wait for another opportunity to have Nicole stay with our girls 🥰

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Wide Awake walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Wide Awake maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Wide Awake choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Wide Awake. On Rover:
- 94% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
