“Donna was absolutely incredible taking care of my cat and house sitting! I came back to a clean home and happy guy :) she went absolutely above and beyond and was very communicative and sent me so many pictures of my cat and his food and litter so I could be at ease knowing he was safe and healthy! Will be booking her every time I go away!”

“Chelsea is wonderful! Very friendly, communicated with us the entire stay and was super sweet to our senior dog. It was comforting to leave town and know our fur baby was loved! Will definitely book her again!”

“Ava is simply the best! She truly understands small dogs and managed to bond with my barky, territorial Chiweenie—no small feat! From the start, she was attentive, sweet as pie, and sent me daily updates that made all the difference. Thanks to Ava, I was finally able to go on vacation with complete peace of mind, knowing my fur babes were in loving, capable hands. 100/10 recommend her to anyone needing a trustworthy and compassionate pet sitter! 🐾💖”

About: I have lots of experience with taking care of dogs and cats. I am comfortable taking care of dogs of all sizes. I have always had dogs in my house growing up, and I know the responsibilities it takes to care for an animal. I will treat your pet as if they are my own. I have taken care of many kinds of pets from puppies and cats to elderly dogs. I have been pet sitting since high school and know what is required for a happy pet. I am very detail oriented and will make sure your pet has all their needs met. This includes potty breaks, food, water, medications, play time, and quality time. I can take your dog for a walk, do a few drop in visits, or do an overnight depending on your pet’s needs or what you are comfortable with. I am currently a rising junior at CofC studying Biology. I will be home (Summerville, SC) for the summer and can take care of pets all throughout the day. During the school year (Downtown Charleston) I can do drop in’s or walks in the morning before my classes, and after my classes in the afternoon, evenings, or overnight. I have an elderly golden lab and a 3 year old Weimaraner. I help take care of them by spending lots of time with them, taking them on walks, providing medication, feeding them, fetching, and giving them lots of love and support. I am very familiar with energetic dogs, and I know that they need lots of attention.
“Aaron was wonderful and truly loved spending time with Gracie and Roxie! Aaron sent pictures and updates daily, which was greatly appreciated! He let me know that Roxie took a little bit of time to warm up but then was herself with being a big snuggler, and that Gracie did great on her walks. Last time we had made this trip we had an 8 hour delay, and asked Aaron ahead of time if something like this happened again could he stay, and he said he could. Luckily all went well and we were able to arrive home on time to two very happy and very well cared for pups! Will definitely use Aaron again!!”

“Tori was very responsive during the booking process as well as right before, during and after she left my home. Raven has allergies and she ensured she ate and took her medications. She was courteous of my home, even cleaning up a mess Raven left for her… and consistently provided me with pictures and updates to show me how happy Raven was while I was away. I know Raven is looking forward to having her stay again!”

“Renne and Donavan did a great job caring for our cats! Our cats were clearly comfortable with them from the photos we received, and they left our house nice and clean. We will certainly book them again in the future. :)”

About: I’ve spent over 21 years caring for cats, 10 years raising dogs, and 5 years caring for bearded dragons through personal experience. Throughout the years, I’ve cared for animals at every life stage, from kittens and puppies to senior pets that require extra patience and attention. I’m comfortable administering oral medications, following detailed feeding and medication schedules, and caring for cats with FIV. Every pet has a unique personality, and I’m experienced working with everything from calm, shy companions to energetic, playful pets. Whether your pet enjoys long walks, active playtime, quiet companionship, or simply sticking to their normal routine, I’ll make sure they receive attentive, personalized care while you’re away! My regular availability is Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. I’m also available for weekend visits, overnight stays, and extended care when you’re traveling. I understand how important consistency is for pets, so I strive to keep them on their normal schedule for meals, bathroom breaks, medications, exercise, and playtime. I’ll communicate with you throughout each visit so you can have peace of mind knowing your pet is happy and well cared for! Your pet’s comfort, safety, and routine are my highest priorities. I take the time to understand each pet’s individual needs, personality, and any special care instructions before every visit. I provide plenty of exercise, playtime, affection, and mental stimulation while always respecting your pet’s comfort level. I’m also happy to take dogs on walks, transport pets to grooming appointments if requested, and provide regular updates with photos so you always know how they’re doing while you’re away. My goal is to make your pet feel safe, comfortable, and loved until you return!
“Jennifer was so amazing and caring with our 2 dogs. I felt completely at ease and was able to enjoy my vacation knowing that our dogs were well taken care of. She sent thorough updates and tons of pictures, which I greatly appreciated! Our dogs warmed up quickly to her and I know were sad for her to leave. I’ll definitely book with Jennifer again!”

“Susan took great care of Sullivan while out of town for one night. She successfully administered his medication, gave him lots of cuddles & outside time & provided pictures as well as updates. She was also very willing to help out with a last-minute request. We definitely plan to use Susan again in the future!”

About: I have taken care of animals since i was a child! I personally had 4+ dogs/cats at a time growing up since I was 5 years old and even now! As a stay-at-home mom, I’m home the majority of the day and night, which allows me to give consistent attention and supervision. I only step out briefly for school drop-off/pick-up or short errands, typically no more than a few hours total. Your dog will not be left alone for long stretches and will be treated like part of our daily routine, with regular potty breaks, playtime, and plenty of interaction throughout the day. Your dog’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. We live on 2 fully fenced acres, providing plenty of secure space to run and explore while always supervised. When indoors, pets are part of our family environment — relaxing, playing, or cuddling in a calm and clean home. I carefully follow each dog’s routine, feeding schedule, and any special instructions to ensure they feel safe and at ease. My goal is to create a structured but loving environment where your pup feels right at home.
“Jordyn was absolutely AMAZING! She consistenly provided updates along with pictures, was very responsive during the entire booking process and beyond. We have 2 pitties that are used to having someone home with them at all times and Jordyn made sure that they had a great balance of outdoor time, snuggle time, etc! We will definitely be calling on Jordyn to watch our pups again. If you are looking for someone who is extremely kind, reliable and attentive, then you need to contact her!”

About: I'm excited to meet you and help take care of your furry loved ones! I have two cats of my own and love spending time with animals. I look forward to learning your pets' routines and quirks and, of course, capturing some photos to share while you're away. I know the hardest part of being away from home is missing your favorite family members and I will care for them as if they're my own. In addition to dogs, I have experience with cats, hamsters, rats, mice, chinchillas, guinea pigs, lizards, turtles, and small snakes. Whatever your need, I've got you! I currently have a very flexible schedule. I'm available for one off visits and would also love to become a regular contact for folks who need to travel often or work long hours. It takes a village to care for our families and I'm happy to help. While your home is the safest and most comfortable place for your pet, I'm sure they'll be missing you while you're away. I understand it can take time for them to open up and be comfortable with someone new. I am patient, gentle, and quiet. Your pets' comfort is my first priority. In addition to their play and care routines, I'm happy to water your plants, check your mail, or help in any other way I can.

Bridgette showed up on time and was great with my Pups. They loved her and missed her the minute she left. One of my pups is terrified of fireworks but Bridgette went the extra mile to comfort him and protect him from the fireworks. We will definitely be using Bridgette again.

Victoria waa very good with Lucy. She waa able to give her meds and adhere to her feeding regimen. She sent pics of Lucy at different times even when walking her which she loves. She also washed our dishes up and kept things tidy. Will definitely call her again when we need a sitter.

Sara absolutely exceeded all expectations! We are always nervous to leave our pup with a new sitter, but she went above and beyond to make both our dog and us feel as comfortable as possible. Annie is not the aleast easiest dog to sit for, and we came home to a very happy pup and a spotless house. We highly recommend Sara and will certainly be booking her again!

I can’t say enough great things about Itziar. My pups loved her immediately and they never do that. She posted updates and sent me pictures every day. I feel like my pups were well taken care of while I was on vacation. I even came back a day early and nothing was amiss. Would highly recommend.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Avenue of Oaks on Rover is $49.95 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 1,665 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Avenue of Oaks. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Avenue of Oaks walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Avenue of Oaks maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Avenue of Oaks choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
