About: I've had family dogs for 13 years, but started taking care of some of my neighbors' dogs 5 years ago, whether it be taking them for potty breaks or staying over at their house to give them attentive care. I work part time at a pet boarding place as a kennel tech, so I have lots of experience with many different breeds and temperaments of both cats and dogs. I've worked with dogs of all sizes, from Yorkie to Saint Bernard, and have lots of experience caring for both puppies and senior pets that might need more rigorous attention. I will be working part-time this summer, meaning that on the occasional days I work, I am available any time before 8am and then after 1-2pm. I can still stay over with your pet any day, that just means that on workdays, I would feed and walk them (And any other things necessary) before 8am, and then have to leave for work and then come back at 1-2. Whenever I am not actively at work, I can spend all my time caring for your pets! I am experienced at reading pet body language and adapting to how they respond. I am very communicative and will send lots of updates about your pet, including daily pictures of your fur babies! I can supply treats (with your approval) and can take them to parks and other places for walks, as I have a car and license. I'm dedicated to making sure your animal is as happy as can be :-)
“Eden was fantastic with our older English bulldog! She was reliable, punctual, and took such great care of her. We felt completely at ease knowing our pup was in good hands. I would absolutely recommend Eden and will definitely be using her again in the future. Thank you, Eden!”

“Kaitlin is not only a natural animal lover, but also a very kind and responsible person. She stayed at our home and cared for our dogs during a snow storm that brought almost a foot of snow with it. She is an excellent communicator. I felt very comfortable traveling out of town knowing that she was taking great care of our dogs and home in our absence. 100% recommend her! 😊”

“Sarah was great with our boys. Both can be a little timid but they warmed up to Sarah at our meet & greet right away. She is very responsible and good with the dogs. We felt very comfortable knowing she was taking such good care of them.”

“Great and flexible dog sitter. Was able to adjust days and times as life happened and made us adjust our travel plans. Our dogs are not the easiest but they warmed to her quickly and it made for a great match.”

“Grace watched Bentley over the weekend and did a fantastic job! She did everything on my checklist! If I called or texted, she responded right away. She sent photos. She took good care of my dog and my house too!”
“Alicia was recommended by a friend and we hired her to watch out two dogs. She took wonderful care of our dogs and our house was clean and tidy when we returned. We’ll definitely be using her again.”

“Keira was great with our old pup Toby while we were out of town. She was knowledgeable about care and Toby was in great hands. She gave updates and photos throughout the stay.”

About: I used to work for a family that had a young high energy golden retriever and it was the best! I was able to provide the needs the family asked me for which included walking him, feeding him, giving him attention, and putting him in the kennel for bed. They also had a cat and I was able to care for her too, so I have experience with working with 2 animals at once. On top of that, I also have a cat and a dog of my own so I am very used to being with animals in the home and providing proper care for them. I am a college student who is home for the summer, and I am currently unemployed so I am extremely flexible! I would like to prioritize being a caregiver for pets before I go back to school to save some money for college. I am able to offer whatever care is needed for your animals. I am extremely flexible when it comes to pet owners expectations and needs, so that everyone is satisfied and happy!
About: Hi! I’m a lifelong animal lover with hands-on experience caring for both cats and dogs of all sizes, including my two cats and my 80 lb English yellow lab. Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and I genuinely love getting to know each pet’s unique personality, needs, and routines. I’m patient, attentive, and dependable, and I like to think I have a special connection with animals and an instinct for understanding what makes them feel comfortable, safe, and happy. Whether your pet loves playtime, long walks, cuddles, or simply calm companionship, I’ll make sure they feel cared for and loved while you’re away. I’m available for dog walks and drop-in visits for cats and dogs, and I treat every pet like family! Lastly, I am also comfortable giving pets medications as my dog Gigi has allergies and takes some medication and supplements. Also I have had to give medicines for multiple cats over the years including inhaler treatments. Currently my elderly cat Mrs. Norris is 17 and living with cancer. She is taking a few medicines to keep her comfortable before it’s time. We have lots of snuggles on her heated blanket, look out the window and bask in the sun. I understand the extra care and love your older animal needs. I look forward to getting know your fur babies!! You could say: Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because I am currently home while my children are out of school. I genuinely enjoy caring for animals and have the time and flexibility to provide consistent attention, exercise, feeding, companionship, and general care throughout the day. Caring for pets complements my lifestyle and is something I find both rewarding and fulfilling. I care for pets by following their regular routine, including feeding, providing fresh water, exercise, potty breaks, playtime, and lots of attention. I make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved while in my care. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I follow all instructions provided, keep the home tidy, and provide updates so owners know their pets are doing well. I am dependable, attentive, and genuinely enjoy spending time with animals.
About: I have taken care of pets since I was six years old, starting with a few fish. Then it developed into lizards, birds, hermit crabs and dogs. I love and care for all and make careful research to provide the best care. I’m home from college so my weekly routine is very flexible until the end of summer! Just in time for vacation! Personal preference is for afternoons but happy to work with anything. I keep alarms set at home for when to feed my pets so everyone knows when it’s breakfast and dinner time! Three times a day I will take my dog out for 30-minute to an hour long walk. As a 75lbs husky, my dog loved to pull on the leash but I was able to slowly train him out of that habit. Now he walks beside me and makes walking around the neighborhood a breeze!
About: Hello! My name is Xin. I live in Ellicott City, Maryland, and hope to care for your fur-babies! I am newly-reactivated, but for the past 6 years I have fostered with the rescues Friends of Rabbits in MD and Penny and Wild in FL, so I have been active in the pet care and rescue community! I'd say I'm fairly active, going to the gym 4 days a week for strength training and running 4 times a week, so I have gotten strong enough to handle bigger dogs. I also love dogs that can run alongside me so I'm for you if you have an over-active dog! I've grown up with a dog, walked countless dogs of various ages, shapes, and sizes, have one house bunny and a former feral tuxedo cat of my own, and worked with caring for up to 14 cats at a time in a Petco! I'm also a rabbit foster and regularly foster and volunteer with local rabbit rescues and shelters - I have fostered at least 10 rabbits now and it's rare for my place to not have more than one enclosure at a time. My services include dog walking, day care, cat boarding and day care. I even have experience with rabbits with special needs, guinea pigs, and reptiles. If you need any proof of credentials, I would love to provide resumes, photos, references, and other proof of experience. To set up a meet & greet with me, send me a booking request! We can do either face-to-face or over video call! Planning ahead? I'm available for any holiday bookings this year. Contact me! I work from home teaching an online music studio and will have my entire day free until at least the coming school year, during which I will be teaching at the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's OrchKids program as a Teaching Artist. I also spend some time at the gym and also run a lot; if your dog loves to run he or she is welcome to come along! I have a camera set up at all times for when I am away and use the app Alfred to track how my pets are doing, which you may access as well. I believe in open communication and constant vigilance when it comes to pet care- I see too often people being honestly audacious and trifling when it comes to pet care which is why I decided to reactivate my account after having taken an extended break from the platform (but not from pet care in general). I will send as many photos and videos as you require (within reason) and every request will be accommodated for to the best of my ability. All pets except dogs will be indoors only.
“Samantha has cared for our dog (and home) twice now. Again we returned home to a happy pup and clean home. Samantha kept us informed and sent photos, and I wholeheartedly recommend her.”

About: I love training dogs bodies and minds through exercise and mental stimulation. I’ve owned, walked and was a pet sitter for a variety of dogs. I’ve most recently owned/trained a puppy (he is now almost one). I’m currently working part-time and have a somewhat flexible schedule. Because of this, I will have plenty of time to love on and care for your pup! I am open to walking your dog on a leash, playing with it in your yard, or taking it to the local off-leash dog park.
About: I have treated small cuts, and administered insulin to cats and dogs. I have cleaned many ears and eyes for both species in my past. I work at a special school beginning at 7:30 am and am finished with my work day at 3:30. I have off on major school holidays. I have a fenced in backyard and my daughter and I enjoy taking our boys on walks daily if weather permits. Our boys love our couch, and always pick the best seat in the house.
“Our dogs had a great weekend with Addie! They were by her side most of the time enjoying her company! Addie is trustworthy and great with our two cavapoos and we hope she will come back again in the future!”

About: I’ve lived in in a household with multiple dogs and cats my whole life. Experience caring for dogs and cats of all ages/needs, including disabilities and special needs such as diabetes and paralysis. Trusted by neighbors and community members to care for dogs, cats, fish, and rabbits for 8+ years. I’d love to meet your furry family! I am a part-time student and worker, so I have plenty of time to stop by and cuddle up and go on adventures with your furry family! I am available to check in on your pet every 4 hours, and am easily able to stay at your home for 7 days plus if your furry family would love the extra company. I maintain a calm, relaxing environment for your pets, especially those who are shy and need some time to warm up. I am easily able to crate dogs of all sizes, and I create a comfortable and fun environment to to play with and cuddle all pets.

FAQs for House Sitting - West Friendship
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 9,959 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across West Friendship. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred West Friendship walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in West Friendship maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in West Friendship choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in West Friendship. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
