Sarah was wonderful! Our dog has anxiety and takes time to warm up to strangers, but he wanted pets from her within minutes of them meeting. She was very understanding and patient with him, given the anxiety. Knowing Sarah was with him gave us peace of mind so we could enjoy our time away. Thank you so much Sarah for taking such great care of our boy!!

Kate was excellent! We booked her for an overnight stay for our (in our house) - to keep him company since he has a little separation anxiety. She was very responsive in our communication and with the our pups needs. Our boy is sometimes shy with new people but he took to her right away and he even hung next to her while we did our initial meet up. She catered to him (walks, waters, and lots of cuddles) while she stayed and she left the house as she found it and was very respectful! Highly recommended!

About: Cats and dogs have been part of my everyday life since childhood. Today my wife and I share our home with two cats and two dogs — so your pet is joining a household that already speaks their language. I've cared for family members' and friends' animals through house sitting, in-home drop-ins, feeding, walks, and play — at my place and at theirs. Laid-back, attentive, and genuinely passionate about animals. Pet care is my full-time focus right now. While I take cybersecurity courses and work toward a new career in tech, my days are built around home — which means your pet gets consistent, attentive care every single day of the week. I am available for both daycare and boarding seven days a week with no gaps in availability. A typical day looks like this: Meals Three feeding periods — morning, midday, and evening — keep pets on a consistent routine throughout the day. Walks Dogs go out 6 to 7 times a day, roughly every 3 hours, so there are no long stretches of waiting — they stay active and comfortable all day long. Cat play Cats enjoy one to two dedicated play sessions each day to keep them stimulated and engaged. My home is a pet-friendly, well-organized space designed with animal comfort and safety in mind. Here's what you can expect: Resident dogs Two friendly small dogs — a Pomeranian and a Chihuahua — live in the home and are great companions for visiting dogs. They've spent time at doggy daycare themselves and are comfortable and experienced around other dogs, which helps guests settle in faster. Cats in the home There are cats in the household. Baby gates are in place throughout the home to create separated zones as needed, keeping cats and dogs comfortable and giving everyone their own space to decompress. Yard & outdoor time My yard is not fenced, so all outdoor time is leashed. With 6 to 7 walks a day, dogs get more than enough fresh air and exercise — and they're never left unattended outside. Crating A small dog crate is available if a pet is crate-trained or needs a quiet retreat. I'm also happy to use a crate provided by the owner if your dog is more comfortable in their own space.

Great and flexible dog sitter. Was able to adjust days and times as life happened and made us adjust our travel plans. Our dogs are not the easiest but they warmed to her quickly and it made for a great match.

Our home was also well cared for and very clean when we returned. She kept us updated regularly with photos and messages, and we had peace of mind while traveling. Samantha is reliable, trustworthy, friendly, and professional. We would absolutely book her again!

About: I’ve been taking care of pets - fish, dogs, cats, and birds primarily - for around 10 years. Possibly more. Absolutely love being able to assist elderly pups as well I’m currently a college student who has a lot of free time at various times during the day. Happily available to stay over as needed I play with and relax with the pets during the day and take them on walks as needed. Depending on age or size of the dog I try to give them one longer walk each day.

Keira is so fantastic! My dog is still a little bit nervous because Keira is new, but she really takes it in stride and seems to magically make my dog more comfortable. Keira is so patient, kind, and gracious, highly recommended if your pup tends to be the nervous kind.

Addie was amazing! Our pup and Addie had an eventful week with a large thunderstorm that brought multiple house/yard issues. Addie was calm the whole time helping not only our pup but us deal with multiple situations from afar. Our pup was clearly well cared for even during multiple house issues. We cannot thank Addie enough for the car of the pup, but also the willingness to help above and beyond original plans due to unexpected house issues. She’s the best - cannot recommend her enough!

About: Hello! My name is Xin. I live in Ellicott City, Maryland, and hope to care for your fur-babies! I am newly-reactivated, but for the past 6 years I have fostered with the rescues Friends of Rabbits in MD and Penny and Wild in FL, so I have been active in the pet care and rescue community! I'd say I'm fairly active, going to the gym 4 days a week for strength training and running 4 times a week, so I have gotten strong enough to handle bigger dogs. I also love dogs that can run alongside me so I'm for you if you have an over-active dog! I've grown up with a dog, walked countless dogs of various ages, shapes, and sizes, have one house bunny and a former feral tuxedo cat of my own, and worked with caring for up to 14 cats at a time in a Petco! I'm also a rabbit foster and regularly foster and volunteer with local rabbit rescues and shelters - I have fostered at least 10 rabbits now and it's rare for my place to not have more than one enclosure at a time. My services include dog walking, day care, cat boarding and day care. I even have experience with rabbits with special needs, guinea pigs, and reptiles. If you need any proof of credentials, I would love to provide resumes, photos, references, and other proof of experience. To set up a meet & greet with me, send me a booking request! We can do either face-to-face or over video call! Planning ahead? I'm available for any holiday bookings this year. Contact me! I work from home teaching an online music studio and will have my entire day free until at least the coming school year, during which I will be teaching at the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's OrchKids program as a Teaching Artist. I also spend some time at the gym and also run a lot; if your dog loves to run he or she is welcome to come along! I have a camera set up at all times for when I am away and use the app Alfred to track how my pets are doing, which you may access as well. I believe in open communication and constant vigilance when it comes to pet care- I see too often people being honestly audacious and trifling when it comes to pet care which is why I decided to reactivate my account after having taken an extended break from the platform (but not from pet care in general). I will send as many photos and videos as you require (within reason) and every request will be accommodated for to the best of my ability. All pets except dogs will be indoors only.

About: With over seven years of professional experience in animal care, I’m passionate about providing safe, compassionate, and reliable care for every pet I meet. My background includes managing a busy doggy daycare, working as a veterinary assistant in a veterinary hospital, earning my PetSmart Pet Care Certification, and providing dependable in-home pet sitting for families. I’m experienced with dogs and cats of all breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments, and I’m comfortable administering medications and recognizing signs that may require extra attention. Whether your pet needs drop-in visits, overnight care in your home, daily walks, playtime, or extra TLC, you can feel confident knowing they’ll be treated with the same love, patience, and attention I’d give my own. I currently work part-time, which gives me a flexible schedule and plenty of availability to provide attentive, reliable care for your pets. Whether you need weekday visits, weekend care, overnight stays, or last-minute drop-ins, I’m happy to work with your schedule whenever possible. I believe pets thrive when they receive consistent care and attention, and I have the time to make sure they get exactly that while you’re away. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priorities. Whether I’m caring for your pet in your home or welcoming them into mine, I’ll make sure they receive the same love, patience, and attention I’d give my own pets. I understand that every animal has unique routines, preferences, and needs, so I take the time to learn what makes them feel most comfortable. In your home, I’ll respect your space, follow your pet’s routine as closely as possible, provide plenty of updates with photos, and make sure your home is left just as I found it. If your pet is staying with me, they’ll have a clean, safe, and calm environment with constant supervision, plenty of enrichment, exercise, fresh water, and lots of affection. With my background as a doggy daycare manager, veterinary assistant, and professional pet sitter, I’m experienced in recognizing changes in behavior or health, administering medications when needed, and responding calmly in unexpected situations. My goal is to build a trusting relationship with both you and your pet, so you can enjoy peace of mind knowing they’re in caring, experienced hands while you’re away.

Alexa house sat for our almost 16 year old dog named Elvis. We were concerned about the stress of him being boarded away from home at such an old age. She was wonderful! She came over and met Elvis and us prior to our booking her services. She kept in contact as the date came closer and sent daily pictures of our pup with status while we were away. She contacted us the day we were coming home to make sure our flight was on time and that Elvis would be ok if she left at the time we had designated. Alexa even helped get our mail and brought in some packages that were delivered while we were gone. We would definitely use Alexa again.

FAQs for House Sitting - Glenelg

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Glenelg on Rover is $37.45 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 10,649 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Glenelg. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Glenelg walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Glenelg maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Glenelg choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Glenelg. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
