“Alena is a blessing. She watched our pups for a long weekend. She knew exactly how to interact with our nervous pup to put her at ease and gave her enough reassurance that Arya settled quickly. We felt a 100% comfortable leaving 2 furry personalities in Alena's care! Can't wait to book her again!”

“Great and flexible dog sitter. Was able to adjust days and times as life happened and made us adjust our travel plans. Our dogs are not the easiest but they warmed to her quickly and it made for a great match.”

“Kayla is such a wonderful sitter!!! My 2 dogs and 1 cat were so well cared for, I think they like her better than me! I felt completely at ease and relaxed on our trip knowing everything was under control.”

“Tyler was fantastic with Ron. She sent daily updates with photos while I was away helping me feel reassured that my pet was in fantastic hands. Communication was clear and quick. Would happily have her stay with Ron again! Thank you! <3”

“Sara did a wonderful job with watching our pups while we were gone. They were calm and not anxious when we returned. They were well loved. The house looked great when we returned too! We highly recommend Sara!”

“Justin was absolutely wonderful to have as a pet sitter. He was very responsive from the beginning and was fantastic with our cat & dog. He took great care of our home while we were away and will definitely book with him again!”

“Samantha has cared for our dog (and home) twice now. Again we returned home to a happy pup and clean home. Samantha kept us informed and sent photos, and I wholeheartedly recommend her.”

“Sylvia is terrific! She took great care of our dogs while we were away. They typically limit their interactions with people when we aren't around, but they really like Sylvia and interacted a lot with her. So grateful for her care of our dogs. Highly recommend her to others”

About: I have over 20 years of experience taking care of my own, friends, family and others animals. I am well versed with dogs, cats, rabbits, fish, and hamsters to name a few. Pet sitting fits naturally into my daily routine. I’m able to provide consistent care, attention, walks, playtime, and companionship while keeping pets comfortable and on their regular schedule. I enjoy making pet care a rewarding part of my day. I provide a safe, clean, and comfortable home environment where pets can feel relaxed and cared for. I give each pet plenty of attention, affection, playtime, and individualized care while maintaining their normal routines as much as possible. My goal is to make every pet feel right at home while their owners are away.
“Keira is so fantastic! My dog is still a little bit nervous because Keira is new, but she really takes it in stride and seems to magically make my dog more comfortable. Keira is so patient, kind, and gracious, highly recommended if your pup tends to be the nervous kind.”

“Felicia did a fantastic job taking care of our dog (and house!). She went above and beyond what was expected and provided excellent care of the dog, including some post surgery care that was needed.”

About: Cats and dogs have been part of my everyday life since childhood. Today my wife and I share our home with two cats and two dogs — so your pet is joining a household that already speaks their language. I've cared for family members' and friends' animals through house sitting, in-home drop-ins, feeding, walks, and play — at my place and at theirs. Laid-back, attentive, and genuinely passionate about animals. Pet care is my full-time focus right now. While I take cybersecurity courses and work toward a new career in tech, my days are built around home — which means your pet gets consistent, attentive care every single day of the week. I am available for both daycare and boarding seven days a week with no gaps in availability. A typical day looks like this: Meals Three feeding periods — morning, midday, and evening — keep pets on a consistent routine throughout the day. Walks Dogs go out 6 to 7 times a day, roughly every 3 hours, so there are no long stretches of waiting — they stay active and comfortable all day long. Cat play Cats enjoy one to two dedicated play sessions each day to keep them stimulated and engaged. My home is a pet-friendly, well-organized space designed with animal comfort and safety in mind. Here's what you can expect: Resident dogs Two friendly small dogs — a Pomeranian and a Chihuahua — live in the home and are great companions for visiting dogs. They've spent time at doggy daycare themselves and are comfortable and experienced around other dogs, which helps guests settle in faster. Cats in the home There are cats in the household. Baby gates are in place throughout the home to create separated zones as needed, keeping cats and dogs comfortable and giving everyone their own space to decompress. Yard & outdoor time My yard is not fenced, so all outdoor time is leashed. With 6 to 7 walks a day, dogs get more than enough fresh air and exercise — and they're never left unattended outside. Crating A small dog crate is available if a pet is crate-trained or needs a quiet retreat. I'm also happy to use a crate provided by the owner if your dog is more comfortable in their own space.

Now that my kids are grown and out of the house, I have more time to spend doing something I genuinely enjoy! Being around animals! I’d love to spoil your pets with love, playtime, walks, and lots of attention while you’re away. My goal is to make your pets feel comfortable, happy, and cared for just like they were at home. I can stop in before and after work. Or I can stay at your house. I work a 9-5 weekdays. I am available also on weekends. I will follow your expectations while sitting for your pets in your home. I will make sure the home remains pet safe. Making sure your pets environment is safe before leaving them. I will give them lots of attention and playtime.

About: I love training dogs bodies and minds through exercise and mental stimulation. I’ve owned, walked and was a pet sitter for a variety of dogs. I’ve most recently owned/trained a puppy (he is now almost one). I’m currently working part-time and have a somewhat flexible schedule. Because of this, I will have plenty of time to love on and care for your pup! I am open to walking your dog on a leash, playing with it in your yard, or taking it to the local off-leash dog park.
“Corinne was great with my three cats. Two of them are very affectionate and need a lot of love. The third is really shy. Cornnie spent a lot of time with the needy ones and had calm energy for the shy one. My shy cat actually ended up headbutting her by the end of the week and he has never done that with a sitter before! We will be booking with Cornnie again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Glenelg
Ryan did an amazing job taking care of our Ricki in our house while we were away. She constantly communicated with us and sent pictures. She also did an excellent job managing Ricki's distrust of strangers. She also helped us by feeding our fish, and collecting our mail. Overall and excellent job, I will definitely use her services

Alexa house sat for our almost 16 year old dog named Elvis. We were concerned about the stress of him being boarded away from home at such an old age. She was wonderful! She came over and met Elvis and us prior to our booking her services. She kept in contact as the date came closer and sent daily pictures of our pup with status while we were away. She contacted us the day we were coming home to make sure our flight was on time and that Elvis would be ok if she left at the time we had designated. Alexa even helped get our mail and brought in some packages that were delivered while we were gone. We would definitely use Alexa again.

Alexa was great with our Bassets. We have one that is incredibly shy and she took to Alexa on her first visit. She provided excellent care and was wonderful with our 3 month old puppy who needed constant supervision with no accidents! Alexa sent lots of pics and videos during her stay and gave us great peace of mind that our babies were getting all the attention they required. We look forward to having Alexa provide sitting for us when needed again. Highly recommend her services!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Glenelg walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Glenelg maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Glenelg choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
