“Emmanuel was wonderful , and caring with Louie. Louie came home better behaved and calmer. I will certainly take Louie to stay again He came home so happy Thank you!”

“I had never used Rover before and couldn't have asked for a better dog sitter than Brian! I received updates and photos throughout the weekend, making me feel confident that I had left Bernie in good hands. When I picked him up at the end of my trip, I got a happy, tired dog. I would absolutely use Brian again next time I have to leave town!”

“Kayla and Adam were wonderful hosts for our little Bonnie! This was Bonnie’s first time staying anywhere without us, but Kayla and Adam obviously love dogs and were simply great with her. Kayla sent reports with pictures several times a day, putting our minds at ease. And the fact that our dog, a very nervous and picky eater, was relaxed enough to eat on her first day told us very clearly that she was doing fine and felt at home with Kayla and her family. Thank you Kayla and Adam - we’ll be back!!”

“Jennifer and Louis were very friendly and accommodating for me and my pup first overnight stay I was very nervous in the beginning due to it being my dog first overnight stay. I a new to the app and was looking for a playful friendly dog that my dog can stay and play with occasionally. We have found one thank you Jennifer and Louis for your hospitality pictures and videos everything went great!”

“Matthew took great care of our dog! He regularly sent pictures and our pup came home exhausted from all the yard/park play. Will definitely book again with him next time we go away.”

“Andrea and TJ were absolutely wonderful with Domino! They took great care of him for the whole weekend, and I could tell he was happy, comfortable, and well taken care of. They were kind, attentive, and made the whole experience so easy and stress-free for me. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for someone to care for their dog, and I would absolutely leave Domino with them again! 🐶❤️”

“Jenny was wonderful! She provided a safe and fun environment for Wyatt. Jenny stayed in contact and sent daily pictures and videos. When I dropped him off for his second stay, he ran to her and never looked back. It was clear he was loved and happy!”

“I'm so thankful to Catherine and Nikhit. Old dogs can need a lot of special care and attention and they are so good with my old lady, and I was able to actually enjoy my vacation without worrying about if Stella was being too much. Stella seems to love going on vacation to their house as well!”
“Nina was great with Ghibli!!! She sent lots of photos of a busy, happy boy and he came home very pleased with himself. I don’t think he missed me at all.”

“Maizie loved her time here and was more upset she had to leave than she was to see me! I will definitely be using Jennifer again in the future as she did an amazing job with providing updates and clearly gave Maizie plenty of love!”

“I recently used Shayla for the weekend and was very satisfied. She was attentive, provided regular updates and photos, and followed all instructions perfectly. Kolton was happy and well-cared for. I’ll definitely use her again!”

“Pat was wonderful. Lots of photos and updates. Great communication and willingness to take Rhea on short notice. She had the best time, her backyard was a playground for Rhea to explore and her pup mojo and Rhea became best friends.”
“Amanda was great and I felt so good leaving Teddy with her! Sent lots of pictures and updates on my pup during his stay! Will definitely be using her again when I’m in the area!”

“Our dog Sonny stayed with Aisha for the Memorial Day holiday weekend. We were very grateful for her daily reports - she provided a lot of thoughtful commentary about our dog's behavior and numerous picture updates. From our meet and greet to drop off and pickup, Aisha was an absolute pleasure to work with and it's easy to understand why she has so many repeat customers. We 100% recommend her and look forward to another opportunity to board!”

“This was our first time using Rover, and we booked Koda for one night with Madelyn and Christopher. From the start, they were incredibly flexible with scheduling a meet and greet beforehand, as well as accommodating our drop off and pick up times. During Koda’s stay, Madelyn and Christopher sent us updates, which we truly appreciated. The first picture we got was of Koda walking right up to the camera with a smile, and it immediately put us at ease knowing he was a happy boy. When we picked him up, that’s when we 100% knew Koda had stayed with the right people. While he was excited to see us, he went back to check on Madelyn multiple times as we were getting ready to leave, which showed us how comfortable he was with her. Thank you both for taking care of our whiny furball. We know he’ll be happy, safe, and well cared for, and we wouldn’t hesitate to book again.”

“Tia took great care of my dog, even during some tummy troubles that probably weren’t fun to deal with. Communication was great—lots of pictures and updates. Mimosa had a great time there.”

“Our dogs were in good hands with Dan! He sent daily updates and was extremely responsive. He really cares about the dogs he boards and we will absolutely use his services again!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Wellington
First time having our frenchie Boone board so I was hesitant and anxious and I couldn't be happier with Russ & Andra! They took such good care of him and sent me updates all day. They have a great yard for the pups to play in and I could tell Boone was so happy. I would definitely use their services again. They are dog people and enjoy taking care of them.

Ashley is the best for caring for my pup Rosie. Ashley is loveable, caring, professional, responsive, and very considerate. As long as Ashley stays on Rover - she is the gal I will call on when I need a sitter for Rosie. Very trustworthy and reliable. I am a repeat client :) I highly recommend Ashley for her services....plus she also has a sweet pup named Cosmo and she cares for you pup like it is her own.

Kiana was super sweet to our dog! She sent us pictures and updates all throughout our vacation. Her experience with big dogs and fenced yard ultimately lead us to chose her for our boarding, but her communication and thoughtful care for our dog will bring us back again and again! We highly recommend Kiana!

Erin watched our dog, Penny, for 10 days while we were out of town. I asked to meet her and her pups before arranging such a long stay and she encouraged it :) This set my mind at ease being able to meet in person first. At drop off, I shared I was feeling a bit anxious leaving Penny for a longer stay and Erin offered to communicate often. Each day, she touched base with me at least once with pictures, videos, and messages about how Penny was doing. This made me feel so much better and allowed me to enjoy my trip. Thanks Erin!

Andrea and TJ were absolutely wonderful with Domino! 🐶❤️

Sabine & Michelle were wonderful. We had a meet and greet to make sure their fur babies and our pups got along. I really appreciate that they only take one boarding at a time. The house was quiet and comfortable and welcoming for our babies. They could play or relax, have plenty of attention and nap time. Everything went great. I 100% would book with them again.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Wellington home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Wellington.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Wellington sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
