“Bri was amazing!!! She took such good care of my little doggie. So kind and loving. She sent me lots of updates and photos. I highly recommend Bri! I don’t live in the area but if I ever come here again I will definitely ask Bri to babysit Gigi again! She’s the best!”

“Theresa by far exceeded my expectations. She was very tentative to Scooby spent time walking him and giving him love. I left without worry and sent me plenty of updates. I will hire her again. My pup is very active and she kept him busy with love and attention. Thank you Theresa!”

About: I have dog sat many times before! I enjoy helping out and making sure the animal has everything they need to thrive. I’m very attentive as well as communicative. I am available 24/7. I am a college student home for the summer, so I have a flexible schedule. There is availability for overnight stays as well as short ones too. I believe an animals health and well being comes before anything else. I can spend a lot of time with your pet if needed to accommodate for my lack of space.
“Kathleen was the most wonderful pet sitter ever! Not only did my 2 dogs and cat love her but so did we! She stayed at my house for 2 weeks while we were in Spain and cooked for them and even watered our plants and took care of our house. My babies were so well taken care of and loved! ❤️ I definitely will be using her every time! I recommend you do too!”

About: What sets me apart from other dog sitters is my experience with a wide range of dogs — from playful puppies to anxious rescues and foster dogs learning to trust again. I focus on creating a calm, loving environment where every dog feels safe and understood. Over time, I’ve built long-term relationships with my clients because they know they can count on me for reliable, compassionate care and clear communication. Every dog I look after becomes part of my extended family. I am looking for work to pay off my student loans, and I am very hard working. I am currently working part time and can walk in the morning and at night! I’m available all days of the week and the weekends. Whether caring for pets in my own home or in my clients’ homes, I focus on creating a calm, safe, and loving environment that feels just like family. I carefully follow each pet’s routine — from feeding and walks to medications and playtime — ensuring consistency and comfort. I’m patient and attentive, especially with anxious, young, or foster dogs, and I take time to build trust through gentle care and understanding. Communication is a top priority, so pet parents receive regular updates, photos, and peace of mind knowing their pets are happy, secure, and well-loved while they’re away.
“Beatrice for took such great of our fur babies!! They are so happy and obviously very well cared for. She also sent lots of pictures and updates which is so appreciated!! We are so happy we found Beatrice!! Tucker and Hazel look forward to seeing her again and we will always ask her to sit with them when we travel!!”

“Marriah is simply incredible at caring for high-needs pets. This was my first experience using an app for an overnight in-home house-sitter for my 14yo yorkie. Our dog has a strict prescription diet for cushings disease and requires gentle, attentive and near constant care. Marriah was professional, cheerful, patient and supportive throughout the 8 days she stayed with our little old lady. I was amazed how Marriah hand fed our dog and got her comfortable and eating again even while she was moping and sad from being left behind. Marriah sent so many pictures and updates on how our girl was doing and I felt so safe leaving my smallest family member in her hands. She is worth every dollar and I would recommend Marriah to anyone looking for an experienced and compassionate caregiver for any kind of service from walks to overnight care. We will definitely ask for her again!”

“Jess was amazing. She is very responsible. She sent me videos and pictures and let me know if my dog had any medical issues. Jess was also very flexible in solving any problem that would arise. 5 stars across the board!”

My goal is to create a stress-free, loving space where pets feel comfortable and protected at all times.
“Ashley was fantastic - our 2 pups were very well cared for, happy (one goes on a hunger strike usually – so we know she did well as she ate her food🤡) - she sent regular pics & updates. Too, she was incredibly flexible with our schedule – we had a last-minute realtor who wanted to do a showing, and Ashley was very accommodating, quickly tidying our place and taking the dogs out of the home for the showing. Would highly recommend - thank you!”

Karen was fantastic! Her attention to detail was excellent, and she took exceptional care of Bentley while keeping a close eye on his needs. She provided great peace of mind, and it was clear she genuinely cared about him. I look forward to having Karen back again and highly recommend her. Thank you, Karen!

I had a great experience with Theresa while I was away for a few days. She was very attentive, reliable, and clearly cared about making sure my pets were comfortable and well taken care of. She kept me updated throughout the stay and sent pictures every day, which gave me a lot of peace of mind while traveling. Communication was excellent, and I could tell my pets were in good hands. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter!

We truly cannot thank Pam enough for the compassion and care she showed for my special needs cat when we went out of town. She treated my baby as if she were her own. There were some challenges with my cat’s behavior but Pam was extremely patient and understanding. Pam never gave up that’s for sure!! Eventually, my cat began to relax some by the end of the visit. Pam sent us photos and videos multiple times a day and her communication was extremely thorough. She seriously put our minds at ease. Pam also stayed overnights and looked after our house - between bringing in our garbage cans to getting our mail and even sweeping up the floors and washing all of the linens used during the stay. Oh my! We couldn’t be happier. 🩷 Pam is a wonderful and kind soul and we totally recommend her services.

Kaitlin did an absolutely amazing job taking care of our two Labrador Retrievers, Chase and Rusty! From the moment we met her, we felt completely at ease knowing our dogs were in such caring and capable hands. She was attentive, reliable, and clearly has a genuine love for animals. Chase and Rusty can be a handful at times, but Kaitlin handled them with patience and enthusiasm. She kept us updated with messages and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. When we came back, both dogs were happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. On top of that, our house was in pristine condition upon our arrival, which we truly appreciated. It’s clear she goes above and beyond in every aspect of her care. We couldn’t have asked for a better pet sitter and would highly recommend Kaitlin to anyone looking for someone trustworthy and compassionate. We will definitely be booking her again!

Tracy was amazing with my 4 dogs and came through for me at the last minute. She also kept an eye on the house while I was gone and notified me of an expected visitor that drove into my property. My dogs loved her and she went above and beyond to make sure they were comfortable with her. Thanks for taking such good care of them!

Olivia took such great care of my two dogs while I was away last minute on a trip. One dog was a Great Dane foster who I was very nervous to leave with someone as she is a special needs case and a handful. Olivia had no problems and I felt totally at ease with constant pictures and updates. I highly recommend using Olivia and will use her again in the future!

Sofia was truly amazing with my dog, Socks. He was pretty down and missing me while I was away, but she was so patient and loving with him. She really took the time to comfort my boy with lots of snuggles, quiet company, and just letting him feel whatever he was feeling without rushing him. It meant so much to know he was being cared for so gently. He really is a gentle giant :) She also kept me in the loop the whole time with photos and videos, which made such a difference since I was missing him just as much. I'm so grateful for Sofia! She clearly loves what she does, and Socks was really lucky to have her! 100/10 would recommend Sofia to anyone!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Wellington on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of June 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of June 2026, there are 2,612 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Wellington. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Wellington walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Wellington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Wellington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Wellington. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
