“Emma took excellent care of our two dogs while we away. She followed all instructions and was very responsive both before and during our trip. We came home to two happy pups! I would definitely book Emma again the next time we need an overnight sitter.”

“Ashley took excellent care of my greyhound and cat! My dog is older and has some special care requirements (supplements, diapers, anxiety) and Ashley had no issues managing it.”

“Kelly was available very short notice to watch our 6 month old pit/lab mix! She is reliable and so caring with our pup!! We’re so thankful for Kelly, our puppy enjoys when she comes to watch him!”

“Gianna was wonderful with my girls! Sally is a bit skittish and she was snuggling with her so quickly. She gave me daily updates and pictures and was very on top of it. It was such a comfort to have someone reliable to watch my girls while we were away.”

“Ryan was great! She stayed with our "pups" (as she cutely called them) for almost a week. Right from the start she sent texts, photos, and a sense that all was under control. Meeting her before the stay both her experience as a student working towards going to vet school and as a horse owner sealed the deal. We'd happily use her again.”

“Giana was kind and very intentional in making sure our pups were safe and taken care of. She was constantly in touch with us. We did a pre meet and that was helpful as I am new to Rover. Our house was left spotless. I will definitely use Giana again.”

About: Hi! I’m Aster, I’m a college student, and I’ve loved pets since I was still learning how to walk! Since I was little I’ve lived with and cared for five different dogs, one of which I personally trained since he was a puppy, and two rescues that needed some more TLC than your average pet. I’ve walked and pet-sat for various friends and neighbors since I was five—for dogs, cats, and even guinea pigs and birds! I’ve volunteered at farms and worked with a variety of farm animals as well. I currently have two dogs and a cat. I’m well accustomed to walking, feeding, grooming, bath time, giving medication via pills or gels, and lots and lots of love! I’ve cared for senior and puppy dogs, and dogs from 10 up to 90 pounds so I’m ready for any size of furball. My husky mix Sky has been with me for almost 11 years now, meaning I’m also used to handling dogs with higher energy or mischievous personalities (if you’re a fellow husky owner I know you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about haha). I’ve cared for a rescue cat of my own since she was about a year old, and also have some experience pet sitting for others’ cats. Any pet I take care of I always treat like they’re my own furbaby! Pets are family to me, not just a job, and I make an effort to truly connect with any pet I’m caring for—even if it’s just for one walk! I promise lots of pets and attention (if that’s something your pet likes) and I’m always up for taking as many photos as you want of your pet so you can see how they’re doing! I’m currently home from college for the summer and have extremely open and flexible hours for pet care. I’ll be available until the end of August when I leave for my next semester. I am very flexible to following whatever plan your pet needs. If you give me a schedule I will do my absolute best to follow it down to the punctuation! Whether I’m walking or pet sitting your pet, they’ll have my full attention. I’m always looking out for their health and comfort.
About: When I’m not at work, I spend most of my time with our 9 year old rescue dog Cooper, or spending time going on walks as a family. In my spare time, I’ve had the pleasure of fostering 7 rescue dogs in our home until they all were matched with a loving family and their forever homes❤️. Lover of all animals (cats included, although I cannot pet them due to allergies🤧). I enjoy getting to meet and take care of all sorts of pets on Rover. I’ve even had the chance to feed a families horses while they were away on vacation. If your fuzzy family member needs a babysitter, a nice walk, or anything in between then feel free to send me a message! Currently open 7 days a week for availability. Feel free to reach out regarding availability or with any questions, and I’m also happy to do a meet and greet if preferred. For high energy dogs I have taken them on neighborhood walks, hikes, or played toys with them. I always let the pet parent guide me on what their dog is up for. We have a senior dog gentleman of our own, so for dogs with a milder temperament I am happy to take them on short walks or can hang inside with them if that’s more their speed.
“Troy & Shalah were excellent sitters for my puppies! They stayed overnight and made sure the dogs were happy and comfortable the whole time. I really appreciated all the picture updates and the care they put in. The house was spotless when we returned, and the pups were very content. I’ll definitely be booking them again for our next overnight stays!”

“Rachel is lovely as a person, warm, and wonderful with pets - our daughter's dog and our cat. She sent a video showing her and the dog having so much fun! And Rachel is an excellent communicator which is so reassuring.”

“Kat was fantastic with our very anxious dog. We had planned a 5-night trip months ago, but didn't have a dog sitter in the area that we knew. After finding Kat on Rover, she came over several times in advance to get to know our 9-year-old dog and was so patient with her when it took her some time to warm up to her. When the trip came, we felt confident it would go well. Kat stayed at our house while we were away and made sure our dog was comfortable despite numerous thunder storms that week. She sent updates to let us know how things were going. We're so grateful for the care she provided and are so thrilled we now have someone local who we can call on in the future!”

“This was our third time using Josh for overnight stays, and he continues to be a really great sitter. His communication is excellent. He provides regular updates and is always very responsive. It's stressful to have your pets care (and your home) in someone else's hands. Josh's communication definitely helps us feel more at ease. We have a fenced yard, but Josh always takes Rider on walks which I really appreciate (as does Rider). Every time we've come home you'd never know he was there. He brings in packages, etc. which again, I really appreciate. We will continue to book Josh without question!”

“Fantastic house/dog sitter! She did an AMAZING job taking care of my two dogs and keeping us in the loop with daily photos and reports. If you get the opportunity to book with Alexa do it!!”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs and Guinea pigs for the past 9 years. Makes sure my neighbors dog when out of town is fed, walked, bathed, and clothed. Currently working part time in social media management, so I’m home with more than enough time to cater towards fur babies! I’m available Monday through Saturday of every week. I live in a dog friendly neighborhood that even supplies bags for dogs. There’s more than enough room in my apartment for zoomies, crates, And most furniture that they are allowed on!

Aster did a fantastic job Babysitting our anxious and cautious pooch! An emergency came up in our home while we were gone and Aster handled it perfectly, communicating throughout and keeping Willow calm the entire time. We absolutely plan to rebook with Aster again in the near future!

Natalie was fantastic with our 2 old dogs. They usually had high anxiety when we would go away but they seemed to really enjoy Natalie’s company and care went smoothly. She took them on walks, gave them love and attention, and we got daily pics and videos. Highly recommend hiring Natalie for your pet’s care and will definitely hire her again.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Washington Crossing on Rover is $57.78 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 5,262 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Washington Crossing. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Washington Crossing walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Washington Crossing maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Washington Crossing choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
