“Dune has been loving Alyson's drop in visits to let him out during the day when we are working. She has great communication and sends lots of photos. She has good attention to detail and does more than asked, like checking his water bowl. Definitely recommend!”

“Kalyn took amazing care of my two kitties! We had to fly to the mainland for an emergency trip, and she was super flexible and helped us out so much. One of my cats has anxiety and really struggles with new people, but my cat loved her and ran right up to her! I never had any anxiety about my fur babies while they were in Kalyn’s care!”

“Andrea was wonderful. She took great care of our shy boy Julius and went above and beyond. We were so grateful to know we had someone kind, caring and responsible while we were away. We will definitely hire her again!”

About: Lifelong dog lover with experience caring for dogs of all sizes, including large breeds. I recently lost a beloved family dog in Japan, which deepened my appreciation for the importance of compassionate, attentive care for animals. Although I do not currently have a pet of my own, I stay closely connected to animals through volunteering at the humane society, where I help care for and socialize dogs of different temperaments and needs. I am active, reliable, and very attentive to each animal’s individual personality and routine. I enjoy providing safe, loving care, regular exercise, and meaningful companionship tailored to each dog’s needs—whether that means calm indoor time, structured walks, or active outdoor time for more energetic dogs. I work mostly remotely, so I’m home the majority of the day and can provide consistent care and attention. I do have occasional appointments, but I plan my schedule to ensure pets are always checked on and cared for regularly. I’m also very active and enjoy hiking and outdoor time, so I’m happy to include pets who enjoy walks, exercise, and being out and about. I provide attentive, reliable care tailored to each pet’s needs and routine. I follow all owner instructions closely, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and any special care or medications. In the home, I make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and not alone for long periods, giving them consistent companionship and supervision. I keep the environment clean, calm, and stress-free, and I’m very respectful of the client’s home, treating it with care as if it were my own.
“Kara was wonderful! She truly went above and beyond when we needed coverage at the last minute. I am so grateful we found her and feel lucky to have her in the neighborhood. Thank you so much!”

About: Reliable Local Pet Care With Veterinary Experience Hi! My name is Haven! I have professional experience working in emergency veterinary medicine, giving me hands on experience with animals who may need extra attention, medication administration, or a calm and confident handler. I’m also a lifelong horse owner and experienced equine caregiver, so caring for animals is a huge part of my everyday life. I offer dog walking and drop in visits and am comfortable caring for both dogs and cats. I’m happy to follow your pet’s normal routine, provide medication when needed, refresh food and water, give plenty of attention, and make sure they’re comfortable and cared for while you’re away. I currently work a Wednesday through Friday schedule, so I structure my Rover availability around mornings, evenings on my days off, and weekends. This will allow quality care, without over booking! I offer check-ins and dog walks with a focus on safety, communication, and dependable care. For check-ins, I follow each client’s instructions and provide water, meals or treats, potty breaks, playtime, companionship, and medication when needed. I also check that doors, gates, crates, and other safety areas are secure before leaving. I respect each client’s home and clean up after visits. For walks, I use the client’s preferred equipment and follow their instructions. I watch for traffic, other animals, weather, and other safety concerns. Pets remain on leash unless the owner has specifically approved otherwise in a secure location. My emergency veterinary experience helps me notice changes in behavior, appetite, energy, mobility, or overall condition. I communicate concerns promptly and follow the client’s emergency instructions. My goal is to provide safe, compassionate care and peace of mind.

About: Hi, I'm a remote worker who loves to travel and meet new people and pets. Recently, I have been spending more time in Hawaii, so I'm starting my Rover back up while I'm on island. I have over 10 years of experience caring for dogs, cats, and other pets. I've taken a training in dog body language from the humane society and am very detail oriented when it comes to following instructions for your pet's needs. Cleanliness will be a priority, and I always pick up after myself to leave a space exactly as I found it.

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Waimanalo
I can’t sing Leilani and Luke’s praises enough—there’s a reason they are so highly rated. This was our first time booking them and they were absolutely excellent. We have two cats, one of whom is a senior and requires medication twice a day, and they handled everything with such care and professionalism. Their communication was outstanding from start to finish. They met with me before our vacation, were incredibly responsive the entire time, and were flexible and accommodating when our travel plans changed. Both Leilani and Luke are kind, polite, and genuinely caring people. It’s always hard to leave our older cat, but having them care for her gave us complete peace of mind and allowed us to truly enjoy our trip without worry. We are so grateful for the love, attention, and care they gave both of our cats, and we will definitely be booking them again.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Waimanalo. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
