“Patricia was responsive in a timely manner and provided us with lots of pictures and updates of our fur babies and we appreciated all the care she provided. Will be using her services again!”

“Madalyn was a phenomenal sitter for our fur pack of five. She communicated with us consistently and provided compassionate care to each of our pets. We have two senior dogs and one energetic three-year-old, and she met each of their needs in addition to being attentive to the cats. She sent awesome photographs and really captured all of our animals. It was wonderful being away and knowing she was there. Madeline rocked”

“Anna watched our dogs in our home for a long weekend. She sent lots of updates with photos and our pups seemed happy to have her caring for them. Even our most shy and apprehensive dog warmed up to Anna quickly!”

“Merissa is so wonderful, kind, prompt, and genuinely caring!! My boy loved her and she took amazing care of him!! Highly recommend her for all your pet care needs!”

“Absolutely thrilled with Ashleigh. She cared for our Afghan Hound and 8 cats!!!! The animals loved her, she sent pics everyday, she has great communication, she cared for our home very well, she is easy going, I can’t say enough positive things about her. Highly highly recommend!!!!”

“Repeat customer, Stephanie (Net) is the best and goes above and beyond. We have a bunch of pets including a senior dog and a high energy middle age pup (cats, a lizard, oh my!) and she’s great with everyone. Highly recommend!”

“Miles did a wonderful job!! He stayed with our 2 cats for 3 nights and gave them so much attention!! He made it easy to travel which is difficult to do with our one girl who doesn’t like to eat while we are away. Miles checked in many times per day and gave updates on how she was eating and how both girls were doing. I highly recommend Miles and will definitely be booking with him next time I am away!”

“Samantha is awesome. She stayed with my cat Azi for a whole week, and sent very regular updates and photos. She communicated quickly when needed - I could trust that I could reach her if I needed to, and that she would reach out to me if anything came up. Most importantly, I could tell that Azi was calm and happy with her, which gave me so much peace of mind! He was chill (not too desperate for affection) when I got home, and the house was clean and tidy. I would hire her again in a heartbeat.”

“Shannon is awesome! She looked after our 5 month old puppy and two cats while we were gone for a weekend. She took great care of them and sent picture updates which was really nice! She also left our house so clean and organized. Lovely! Looking forward to having her again for future trips.”

“Rima was very attentive with the dogs. She sent pictures and videos frequently so that we could see that the dogs were doing well. She spent a lot of time outdoors with them. She cleaned up after their poops. She washed towels and sheets so we came home to a clean house. We would use Rima again. We travel frequently to visit our children.”

“Natasha was amazing. She met with us before sitting for us and made sure she knew everything she needed to know beforehand. She was very gentle and kind with our girls and patient with our senior dog. She sent us pics and let us know how they were doing. Very trustworthy in our home and respected our wishes of not having anyone over (which we’ve had problems with in the past with other dog sitters.) We will definitely be using her again as our regular sitter.”

“We met Kenda under urgent circumstances, Having just moved to the Bethlehem area from NH, we knew no one. But then we found Kenda on Rover and all her talents and reccommendations were amazing and we knew right away she was the perfect sitter to meet our 2 dogs, Commet&Vera. Her first visit was exactly what we and our babies needed for our short leave from the home. She came prepared and it was clear she had done her homework reading all about our dogs and their meds on a daily basis. We cannot be happier nor more trusting with Kenda. Best reaction was the dogs first encounter they were elated and even tussled to see who got her attention first. My husband and I highly recommend Kenda especially if you have large dogs who are a bit rambunctious. Kenda is the real dog whisperer with her care of quick understading of our our furriest... thank you from the bottom of our hearts also from our babies. SEE YOU VERY SOON I HOPE. DANIA&ROGER GLENMONT NY”
“This is my second time booking with Alexis and will definitely book again! She took great care of my animals, provided updates, administered inhaler treatments to my cat, and cleaned up before leaving. Thank you so much!”
“Our experience with Jessica was absolutely amazing. We were gone for a week, and she took such incredible care of our two dogs. Taking care of two dogs can be a lot, but Jessica handled everything so well and made the whole process stress-free for us She kept us updated regularly with pictures and messages, and it was clear the dogs were getting tons of love, attention, and care every single day. One of our dogs is usually cautious around new people and was completely adamant about not warming up to anyone at first but by mid week, they had become best buddies. Seeing that level of trust and comfort honestly meant so much to us. When we got home, the dogs were so happy, relaxed, and attached to her routine that it actually took them almost 10 minutes to realize we were back! That alone says everything about how comfortable and cared for they felt during the stay. We’re very grateful for the care and attention she gave our pups and would gladly trust her again in the future. Highly recommend”

“Lauren was fantastic with taking care of Sully and our home. She provided frequent updates, photos, and clearly made sure he was comfortable and having fun. We will certainly look to her in the future as well.”

This was our first time using Rover, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! We had a small hiccup with our WiFi being down for a day, but she was so understanding and flexible about it. She was very responsive, kept us updated every day with pictures, and took great care of our pup and home. Super kind and easy to communicate with—we’d definitely book with her again for another stay!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Verdoy walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Verdoy maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Verdoy choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Verdoy. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
