About: As a lifelong dog lover, I know just how special the bond between a person and their dog can be. About a year ago, I unexpectedly lost my own boy to a sudden heart condition. It broke my heart, and for a while, I couldn’t imagine opening my home to another dog of my own. I do, however, miss having dogs in my life—their personalities, their companionship, and all the joy they bring. That’s what led me to Rover! I’d love the opportunity to give your pup some extra love, attention, exercise, and companionship while you’re away. Your dog will be treated like family, with plenty of patience, affection, and care. I know how much trust it takes to leave your pup with someone else, and I’d be honored to be that person for you. 🐾❤️ I’m a bartender with a schedule that gives me plenty of flexibility during the weekdays. My days off are often spent getting outside for walks, runs, and enjoying some fresh air, so having a pup to join me would be the perfect addition to my routine! Because I work at a seasonal location, my availability will become even more flexible as the season winds down. I’m looking forward to using that extra time to spend with dogs, whether that means a long walk, some playtime, or simply giving your pup some company and attention while you’re away. I’m active, dependable, and genuinely love being around dogs, so I’d be happy to make your pup part of my everyday routine! 🐾 I have a large two story home with plenty of space for roaming and playing, as well as a fenced in back yard. We do not have any pets at the moment so it’s very easy to accommodate yours.
“Amy was great with our two dogs! She put my mind at ease on the meet and greet. Our two really did like her. We had her come and take care of our dogs as we were out of town and it made me happy knowing they were trusted hands. She fed them, took them out for walks played with them fed them cookies everything that we would’ve done. I highly recommend her and I’m sure we’ll be using her again.”

About: Hi, I’m Kaitlin Morton! Animals have always been a huge part of my life—growing up, we always had dogs, and that love for pets only grew stronger as I got older. I spent 5 years working at Mohawk Hudson as the Admissions Supervisor and also served as one of the Animal Cruelty Officers. During that time, I worked with pets of all breeds, sizes, and personalities, which taught me patience, understanding, and how to provide the best care possible. The “bad nuggets” have always been my favorite—I love working with animals who might need a little extra time, reassurance, or structure. Whether it’s playtime, cuddles, training reinforcement, or just sticking to their daily routine, I’ll treat your pet like one of my own. My goal is always to make them feel safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. I am very flexible with my schedule, I can work most days at most times. I will always have time for the pups, hope to meet your fur babies How I Care for Pets in My Home: In my home, pets become part of the family. I make sure they are comfortable, safe, and feel right at home. They’ll get plenty of playtime, walks, and snuggles, along with a routine that’s as close to their own as possible. I keep a clean, pet-friendly space with cozy areas for them to rest, and I always supervise play to make sure everyone is happy and safe
“Cambria agreed to watch my three dogs on short notice. She did a wonderful job for the Long weekend, sending pics and keeping me updated on their shenanigans. Wait did I say shenanigans? I meant to say training progress lol. When I got home I could tell my fur babies had been so well cared for. Would definitely hire Cambria again.”

About: I’ve had jobs caring for senior dogs, puppies, and/or super anxious and reactive dogs. I’m very patient, diligent, and will love your babies like my own :) I also have experience dog sitting for the president of my college! I have recently graduated from college and am living in the Albany area for the time being. My schedule is very flexible. I am not able to board dogs at my home at this time, as I do not live alone. I live in a tidy, quiet home with an unfenced yard, though I am not able to board dogs in my home at this time :(
“Melanie is so wonderful! She graciously took a last minute booking and also was super easy going about my address mixup which I GREATLY appreciate her for. I would absolutely book with her again.”

“Elizabeth took care of my cats as if they were her own. She was an excellent communicator and sent me tons of pictures and videos, so I knew they were in good hands while I was away. Even more amazingly, my one cat is very scared of new people, but he warmed up to her right away. Cats can tell when humans are safe and I am so thankful to know they were given loving time and attention in my absence. I highly recommend and plan to book Elizabeth again for my future cat sitting needs!”

“Glenn and Diana were the best sitters ever! We have a very hyper, young lab who does not like to be left alone. We have never used a professional pet sitting service before and Glenn and Diana provided us with not only did they provide excellent pet care, but they were extremely flexible with several last minute schedule changes. They also helped us navigate the Rover app to help correct errors on our part as well as giving our dog some short training sessions with sit, down, and stay while they were spending time with her. Glenn and Diana played a lot of fetch with the dog and gave our cat tons of attention too. Great sitters who really put us at ease! We highly recommend them and Rover!”

“Stephanie was super friendly and communicative and my dog, who can be a bit skittish around strangers, seemed to open up to her really quick! It’s clear that she absolutely loves animals and I will definitely be booking her again in the future!”

“This is our second time using Sara and I know when we are away I don't have to worry about our kitties - she takes great care of them and our house is always in great shape when we come back as well. Thank you Sara!!”

“Jessica was fantastic with my cat! I arrived home after having to travel for work to a healthy and happy cat and an apartment that was just the way I had left it. Jessica provided a clear summary of each visit and was overall a great catsitter! Will book again.”

“Sam was with Laila a couple weeks before she passed,but she was amazing and was so patient with my girl. Sam has a great compassionate way towards animals. You'll feel reassurance and know she takes great care of them. 💕”

About: 🐾 Hi! I took a break from pet sitting because corporate America was consuming my life (0/5 stars, don’t recommend, seriously terrible experience), but I’m SO EXCITED to get back to doing what I love again!! I’m proud to be a certified crazy dog & cat lady - I have two dogs & four cats and I've taken care of dogs & cats of every kind over the past 15 years. Ever seen some crazy girl wearing a hoodie with her cat's face all over it? Yeah, that's me. Ever been so obsessed with your pets that you contemplated tattooing yourself with their paw print? Yep, I did it. Ya know the weird girl that jumps up and down everytime she sees a dog and asks to pet them? You guessed it, that's me. There's only one thing I"m truly passionate about and it's animals! I love dogs of all sizes & have experience with all different temperments & personalities over the years as well - from the laziest of the lazy who want nothing more than to nap 85% of the day to the highest strung herders who need a job all day long, I've had them all! I have a lot of experience with special needs & senior animals as well - our mini dachshund is fully deaf & visually impaired so her disabilities are a part of our everyday life! 🐾 My schedule is pretty open & flexible - whether you need mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends or weekdays, I’m just happy for the chance to take care of your babies while you’re gone! 🐾 You know what’s best when it comes to your babies care so whatever your preferences, requests, rules, and asks of me are is exactly what I am going to deliver! I'm here to give you the peace of mind that comes from knowing they are being cared for exactly like you would & loved like they're my own in your absence!
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Verdoy
Kaeleigh is excellent! All the cats loved her and even my extremely anxious cat allowed herself to be seen more than once (with assistance from Feliway I set up beforehand). We have a very complicated routine for our cats but she had no trouble at all. It was a huge relief to know someone reliable and experienced was checking up on our cats while we were away. Would book again :)

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
