“Dana is a lifesaver!! I was nervous about leaving my new pup with someone new, but she's been absolutely fantastic!! I can go to work with peace of mind knowing that Tamayo is in great hands!”

About: I have extensive experience in raising, training, and caring for dogs, including a variety of tasks such as administering medications and insulin shots for diabetic dogs. Over the years, I’ve developed a strong understanding of canine behavior and have honed my skills in training dogs through positive reinforcement methods. I am currently working from home as a Veterans Benefits advocate FT. I do have control of my schedule so I am very flexible with your schedule. I am a reliable and trustworthy individual when it comes to watching and caring for your dogs. With a genuine love for animals and a deep understanding of dog behavior, I prioritize the safety and well-being of every pet in my care. I have a spacious, secure yard where dogs can play and explore safely under supervision. Additionally, I have two well-behaved and trained Heelers who are friendly and love making new canine friends. Their calm and social nature helps create a welcoming environment for other dogs, ensuring they feel comfortable and at ease during their stay.

About: Hi! I’m your pet’s new favorite human 😉 and a reliable animal lover who loves keeping pets safe, happy, and comfortable. I grew up with cats and dogs and have become the go-to sitter for friends and family when they travel. I’m happy to care for pets based on their personalities—whether that’s walks, playtime, or quiet companionship. Your pet’s safety and happiness are my top priorities, and I’ll treat them like part of my own pack (or clowder 🐾). I work from home so I have a flexible schedule and open availability, including weekends and holidays, and I’m an early bird, so morning feedings, walks, and check-ins are no problem. I’m happy to adapt to your pet’s routine and provide consistent attention, care, and companionship to keep them safe, comfortable, and happy 🐾 Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities, and I follow their routine closely to create a calm, loving environment. I’m also tidy and respectful of your home, keeping things clean and organized while caring for your furry friend. 🐾
“Africa is amazing! She took the time to get to know My dog maverick and I appreciate her trying to get him out of his shell quick since he is sooo shy. I would recommend her to anyone. She did great without even getting a chance to meet him first so I appreciate her availability as well!”

“Great communication and an instant positive connection with the dogs! She was amazing and I didn’t have any second thoughts or stress knowing my dogs were in such good hands. I highly recommend Jacqueline if you want a caring, punctual, and responsible dog sitter who is capable of handling any and all challenges thrown her way!”

About: I have tons of experience with all kinds of animals. I have loved and cared for: -kittens, senior cats, and pregnant cats -puppies, senior dogs, and pregnant dogs I’ve also had birds, fish, and bunnies. I have also volunteered with horses and other farm animals, although I’ve never personally owned any. I am currently a college student and a manager at an ice cream shop. I’m looking to help my community and fill my time! I work most days but, most of my classes are online. I am willing to be flexible! I am very particular when it comes to client care. I don’t believe you can “spoil” an animal because they’re our babies! Let’s take care of them the best we can together. Any requests for pet care are fine by me as long as the animal is safe and happy! My animals(I have 3 dogs and 2 cats) all get along well, are fed well, and regularly see a vet.

About: I have experience caring for pets of different ages and personalities through both my own pets and pet sitting for friends while they’re away. I currently care for two pets of my own- an orange 9 year old tabby and a one year old kitten. I take the time to understand each pets personality and make sure they feel comfortable, and cared for while their owners are away. I’m currently a college student on summer break and work part-time, but I keep a flexible schedule and am especially available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I understand how important routines are for pets and make sure they receive the attention, care, and consistency they need while their owners are away.

About: I have over 15 years of experience walking and pet sitting, and I truly love what I do. Whether it’s a quick walk or a longer stay, I make sure your dog gets plenty of exercise, attention, and care. I run my own dog walking and pet sitting business and care for multiple regular weekly clients, along with one-time and occasional visits. Reliability and communication are very important to me, and I treat every pet like they’re part of my own family. Over the years, I’ve raised 9 dogs of my own, so dogs have always been a big part of my life. Your pup will be safe, loved, and well cared for with me. Pet care is a big part of my everyday life. I run my own dog walking and pet sitting business, so my schedule is built around the pets I care for. My weekdays usually include regular walks, drop-ins, and check-ins, and I make sure to leave space in my day so I’m never rushed. I plan my week around my clients so each dog gets consistent attention, exercise, and love. This isn’t something I squeeze in — it’s what I do — so I’m able to be reliable, present, and fully focused on the pets in my care. It really depends on the service, but my goal is always the same — keep pets comfortable, safe, and on their normal routine. In my client’s home, I stick closely to their pet’s usual schedule for feeding, walks, potty breaks, and downtime. I spend quality time with them (not just quick in-and-out visits), give lots of attention, and always send photo updates so you know how they’re doing. In my home, pets get a calm, family environment. I make sure they have space to relax, regular potty breaks, daily walks, and lots of supervision. I do slow introductions with my dog and always prioritize safety and comfort. Whether it’s boarding, overnights, or drop-ins, I treat every pet like they’re my own and focus on keeping their stress low and their routine consistent.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Valley Center
Josh was a life saver for us! We just moved to California and needed someone we could trust to watch our cat and he was exactly what we were looking for! He was so helpful to us, allowing us to still be able to travel and do what we need to do and know that our cat has a friend to look after them while we are away. So grateful for Josh, he is a must book, you won’t regret it!

Josh was great and I booked last minute since I just moved to the area. I had a bad experience with a previous pet sitter which left me traumatized and Josh understood that and ensured he would take good care of my cats. I appreciate the check ins and pictures and it helps put me at ease when I am away from home. Overall it was a good experience especially being so last minute and despite a few of my cats being very shy he tried to make sure they all were fed and well taken care of.

I have not travelled much recently and am very anxious about leaving my big needy cat Ajax. Anna's excellent care allowed me to relax and savor my wonderful vacation with family on the east coast. I loved getting her check-in reports and photos on check-in and read the mini-chronicles of Ajax aloud to my family every day. Ajax is not generally a cuddlebug and can be very bossy so I was worried that he might give Anna a hard time, especially about not being able to go outside on his leash. To my delight, Anna the pet whisperer cultivated a beautiful relationship with Ajax over the ten days. I came home to a happy cat and pet areas considerably tidier than they are when I'm here:). In short--great communication, great care, and great comfort for this anxious pet owner.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
