“From our very first meet & greet, we could tell our pups Cooper and Casey were in good hands. Stephanie was warm and easygoing, and our dogs took to her right away. For our drop-ins, Stephanie arrived promptly and followed our care instructions closely. Both pups enjoyed a lively game of fetch with her and received the bio-break they needed. When she headed out, the house was locked up securely and the pups were happy. Stephanie sent great photos of Cooper and Casey during her visit, which made our day and gave us complete peace of mind. Having a local sitter with a flexible schedule is a real gift. We'll be booking her again when we need care.”

About: There has never been a year in my life without a pet in the house - I would say that they’re what make a house become a home. My home has welcomed a variety of animals inside: dogs, cats, guinea pigs, birds, even potbelly pigs! I’ve seen all my pets through their natural lifespans and have experience with all stages of life. My clients have often said that when their pets are with me, it’s like they’re on a vacation that’s better than their own! When I’m not at my Masters program as a full-time college student, I spend every second with the pets at home. They’ll never spend a second lonely here! My house has a fenced-in yard with plenty of grass and 2 acres to roam. We also have a dog and cat of our own to keep your furry friend company with us.

About: Growing up, my environment was filled with dogs, which gave me hands-on experience with different breeds early on. I have cared for everything from small, high-energy breeds like Chihuahuas and Yorkies to larger and stronger breeds like Rottweilers and Pit Bulls. This exposure taught me how to adapt to the unique needs of each dog, including their routines, feeding habits, personality quirks, and behaviors. My ability to connect with dogs of all sizes and temperaments ensures they feel secure and cared for under my supervision. Overall, I have six years of experience caring for dogs of different breeds, sizes, and temperaments, making knowledge, communication, and observation key skills of mine! These skills have been used to care for all dogs, whether it be seniors, new borns, or behavior-challenged dogs. Don't hesitate to reach out, I am always willing and able to assist in any situation! Pet care fits seamlessly into my daily and weekly routine; my flexible schedule allows me to prioritize the needs of the pets in my care. As a high school graduate, I have learned to manage my time efficiently, ensuring I provide consistent attention and care throughout the day. As a college student, I am able to schedule coursework around those in my care, giving each pet the structure they deserve while staying on top of my responsibilities. My ability to balance these tasks ensures that pets always feel cared for, even during busy periods. In addition, having free weekends allows me to dedicate more time to those in my care; I use this time for grooming, mental stimulation, or fun activities depending on the dogs' needs and abilities. My focus on time management ensures that each pup is always prioritized, with plenty of quality time and attention incorporated into their routine. Overall, my goal is to provide a calm, nurturing, and healthy environment. I can ensure that pet care is prioritized in my routine, allowing me to meet the needs of every dog I meet. Caring for pets, whether in my home or a client’s home, revolves around creating a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment that fosters trust, respect, and well-being. Safety is my top priority; this includes securing the living space to prevent accidents, deep cleaning after every stay, and ensuring pets have access to fresh water and appropriate food for their dietary needs. In terms of health, I carefully monitor their behavior to identify any signs of distress or illness and address them promptly. For outdoor activities, I use secure leashes or harnesses, supervise them, and monitor them while off leash closely. Building trust with animals is essential to providing effective care. I take time to understand their unique personalities, preferences, and routines. By approaching them gently, respecting their boundaries, and offering positive reinforcement, I create a sense of security and reliability. Whether it’s maintaining consistency in feeding schedules, potty breaks, and spending quality time/playing, I strive to create a comfortable and enjoyable environment for each dog I meet. I can ensure they feel valued and cared for. Overall, the environment I provide is clean, stimulating, and adapted to their specific needs. I offer comfortable resting areas, engaging toys, and plenty of space to explore. I respect established routines and follow your care instructions precisely, maintaining a seamless transition for your pet. My approach combines attentiveness, compassion, responsibility, and professionalism to ensure every pet thrives under my care.

About: I am extroverted and creative, and I have an affinity for people having unique inspirations and passions. I really love animals, but sadly, have none to call my own! I would love to be around them more, and offer my help and care to the community who may need it. I have been inconsistently house sitting and dog walking for years now, but I am now hoping to do it more often! I have a lack of reviews, but it’s not for lack of experience :) I am laid back and I have a very flexible schedule! My availability is almost entirely open. Let me know if you need care last minute! I enjoy giving them outdoor time, so they can run around, and let out all their excitement and energy. I also love giving them little treats, when they are allowed!

About: Hello! My name is Rachel, and I’m a lifelong animal lover with years of experience caring for dogs of all breeds, sizes, and personalities. At home, I’m lucky enough to share my life with five wonderful dogs—three playful pugs and two larger rescues—so I understand firsthand just how much love, attention, and care our pets need to feel safe and happy. Because of my own pack, I’ve become well-versed in handling everything from energetic play sessions to slow, relaxing walks, and I know how to adapt to each dog’s unique needs. I also have experience with multi-dog households, administering medications, and making sure feeding schedules and routines are followed carefully. I treat every dog I meet as if they were my own. When your pup is in my care, you can trust that they’ll receive not only reliable attention, but also genuine affection and companionship. I believe communication is key, so I make sure to provide updates, photos, and peace of mind while you’re away. Your pets are part of your family, and when they’re with me, they become part of mine too. 🐾 Caring for pets is already a big part of my daily life! With five dogs of my own—three pugs and two larger rescues.I’m used to balancing walks, feeding times, play, and downtime on a structured schedule. Having a full pack at home has taught me the importance of routine, patience, and flexibility. Because pet care is naturally built into my day, I can easily adjust my routine to meet the needs of your pets too. Whether that means early morning walks, mid-day drop-ins, or evening cuddles, I’m comfortable creating a consistent, reliable schedule so your furry family member feels safe and cared for while you’re away. Safety and trust are always my top priorities. When caring for pet, I follow all instructions carefully, keep routines consistent, and make sure your pet feels comfortable and secure. I provide plenty of supervision, affection, and communication so you can have peace of mind knowing your furry family member is well cared for.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .

sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
