Kimi had a two night stay with Christine to see how they both got on together, I received regular updates including photos and video showing that Kimi was very happy during his stay. Christine and Fean made Kimi's first stay easy to organise and I felt comfortable mentioning any aspect of Kimi's behaviour, I was confident that Kimi was receiving excellent care and it was so good to be able to relax while away, knowing that he was in such good hands.

Our little girl Fiadh absolutely loved her stay with Jake and his partner! She enjoyed lovely walks and play time in the river. We will definitely use Jake again when we are next up that way. Jake and his family are proper dog lovers. Was like he couldn't wait to meet Fiadh and formed a bond before we picked her up. 10/10

Chipper has been back with Roy and Mandy again, this time during the heatwave. They have taken such great care of him in the heat for which I am so grateful. They went for walks early and late and he spent a lot of time on their lovely tiled kitchen floor which kept him cool. As ever they kept in touch, sending photos and messages so I knew he was fine.

Max and family took excellent care of our dog and kept us updated on all their adventures. They are clearly very fond of dogs and very knowledgeable about them. It was so reassuring to leave our dog in the care of a loving, fun family and to know that she was going to have a fantastic time. Would highly recommend and will definitely try to book them again in the future. Thank you all so much!

Stanley had a lovely stay with Libby and Otto. Libby sent several updates about him chilling or going for a walk. It was reassuring to know he was in safe hands and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend her to others looking for a home-from-home environment for their beloved pet while they're away.

It’s the first time we’ve left our 2 dogs with a home boarder , very apprehensive as 2 spaniels can be a handful. Ian was very welcoming, asked us lots of questions about our dogs likes, dislikes and routine . They had a 2 night stay , seemed really happy and content when we collected them . Would use Ian again and highly recommend him . Thankyou for looking after Obi and Jango .

Bonnie took wonderful care of our Collie dog, Gwir, giving him regular walks and play-time and providing us with updates on his progress. Gwir has been purring like a cat since we got back and we would have no hesitation in asking Bonnie to look after him again. A fantastic experience all round!

Fantastic. Coco had such a good time with Kate, her family and her dogs. We received updates while out on walks, when playing and when cuddling up in the evening. Every picture and video we received Coco couldn't have looked happier. Thank you so much Kate and family for being so kind and loving to our pup.

About: I’m a lifelong dog lover who has owned three dogs and regularly cares for family and friends’ dogs while they’re away. I’ll make sure your pup feels safe, happy, and well looked after while you’re apart. I have a DBS certificate I work in education, so I’m lucky to have the school holidays free—these are the times I’m available for pet sitting. This means your dog will enjoy plenty of company, around-the-clock attention, and will only ever be left for very short periods, if at all. We also have a National Trust membership, so your dog can join us on lots of fun walks and adventures, with plenty of exercise, enrichment, and cuddles along the way! We have a secure, fenced garden and one friendly male dog. There’s plenty of space in our home for a crate if that’s part of your dog’s routine, helping them feel comfortable and settled. If your dog is a bit of an escape artist, I’m happy to put a baby gate at the front door for extra security. We also have three dog-savvy children (aged 12, 10, and 7) who have grown up around dogs and understand how to behave respectfully. Please be honest about how your dog is around children so I can ensure our home is the right fit for everyone.

Emma and her partner Jordan were a joy to deal with, they made everything really clear and that started with a little initial walk with their dogs. This was a really nice way of seeing if our dog could slot into their lives for a few days. They were entirely accommodating in every way and even offered to come and collect our dog on the day of us leaving to go away. I got to their house and they were very welcoming and the environment was perfect. Emma was really good in ensuring she understood what our dog liked and didn’t like, how he slept, what time he ate, if he needed any medication etc. Emma and Jordan sent pictures of our dog over the weekend having a great time out and about with their dogs and messaged us regularly with updates. Upon picking our dog up he’d acquired a lovely new toy and some new friends, we would highly recommend these guys to help you with your dogs care.

About: I have 4 little yorkies at home, I also help my family with pet sitting when needed. My dogs are very friendly, loud at first but they calm down eventually, we have few dogs coming to my house and some stay for sleepover as I also use my little boy as stud so my dogs are used to other dogs and my children are pet lovers too. They always want every dog to stay in our house forever. I decided to make my service official as I know how hard it is when you want to go for a holiday and you need to leave your hairy babies behind. I have had dogs all my life and also other pets. I work nights as a bank position so I pick my own hours and slmy dogs are never left alone and I only work when I am not busy doing something else. I am at home every day, also I am very lucky to live where I live so the dogs have enough space for walking and running and I have quite satisfying garden. I stay at home during the day, my family is at home during the nights I am working. My pets are very spoiled as they get a lot of kisses and cuddles and they are very needy babies, my kids also love animals especially dogs.

Finding the right boarding environment is all about peace of mind. Boarding with a sitter on Rover helps you find a cosy experience in a real home for your dog.

When searching for a host, look for a sitter who:

  • Offers a secure, home-like environment that is clean and welcoming
  • Adheres to your dog’s established routine for meals, activity, and rest
  • Possesses relevant experience with your pet’s specific breed, size, and personality
  • Maintains clear communication regarding the frequency of photo and message updates

Don’t skip the Meet & Greet! The free Meet & Greet is the best way to see where your dog will sleep and who they might play with.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Sitters in Wales may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes dedicated customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement programme for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Every sitter on Rover must pass an identity verification before they can list their services. An identity verification confirms that the sitter is who they say they are based on their documents.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to £25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit our Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest vet. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorisation form for your regular vet. An authorisation form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
