“Jane has looked after our two whippets several times, helping us out at short notice which was so appreciated! The dogs clearly enjoy their time at Jane’s house, and always come home happy and relaxed. Thank you!”

“Hannah was brilliant with our 7 month (old very energetic) Staffy X puppy. Super accommodating and very experienced - gave us huge confidence leaving River in her care. Also offered a great ‘meet and greet’ before our first booking as well to make sure the pairing was a good fit. Already booked in for some more dates. Thanks Hannah!”

About: My aim is to make sure your dog is happy, loved, entertained, walked and fed in the same way as if they were at home. I work from home so am here all day to look after your dog as I do my own gorgeous golden retriever, Stan. I wake up early (06:30) to say hi, provide breakfast, and let Stan and your lovely dog out in our safe garden followed by a cuddle. Then we’re out for a walk in the lovely open spaces on our doorstep. If it’s the weekend - and your dog is keen - we’ll go to the beach for a swim or paddle! Otherwise happy to stick to our lovely countryside walks :) Chill time then playtime in the garden followed by another walk later. Then dinner and an evening play and chill whilst we cook dinner and relax at home with Stan and his pal :) I have my own 7 year old golden retriever, Stan who is very chilled and gets on with all dogs and humans! We have a spacious home with a fenced garden. There are lots of lovely walks on our doorstep and we like to go to the beach for a swim or paddle too! Stan is my third child! I have two grown up kids at uni. Freddie, 22 and Poppy 20. I will look after your dog as if he were part of our family.
“Minnie had a lovely stay with Claire, Ash & Annie. Thankyou so much for taking such good care of her, I was totally reassured and relaxed having full confidence in your capabilities and natural affinity with dogs. Minnie was at ease straight away and I’m sure she’d love to return to see Annie again in the future. One happy tired dog now resting peacefully.”

“Jen was absolutely incredible looking after my little dog, Toast. Jen was able to accommodate my last minute request and completely put me at ease when organising the booking with her fantastic communication. Her gorgeous dog Loki took so well to Toast and from the photos and updates throughout the day, it assured me that Toast had the absolute best day! Thank you so much, Jen!! xo”

About: I’ve been around animals my whole life and have always loved caring for them. I grew up with many cats, and since I was little I’ve helped look after them, including taking in stray cats during my childhood. We also always had family dogs, and I loved spending time with them, playing, and taking them out for walks. In total, my whole family 5 dogs overall, so I’m very comfortable being around different breeds and personalities. I also have personal experience caring for a small tortoise named Frankie, so I’m used to looking after pets with different needs and routines. Animals have always been a big part of my life, and I genuinely enjoy giving them attention, care, and companionship. I’m currently not working, so I have plenty of time to give pets the attention they need. I’m available for dog walks, home visits, boarding, and overnight stays, and I can be flexible to suit your pet’s routine. I’m happy to help with whatever is needed to make sure your pet feels comfortable and well cared for. I live in a small two-bedroom house, and although I don’t have a garden, there is a small nature reserve area just behind my home that’s perfect for dog walks. There’s also a bigger park about a 5 to 10 minute walk away, so there’s plenty of outdoor space and nature nearby for exercise and fresh air. I make sure pets are supervised, comfortable, and cared for in a calm, safe environment.

About: I had two dogs for 16 years who were so loved and cared for. Unfortunately they have both passed away now so I have a dog shaped hole in my heart. I am one of those people who sees a dog and just smiles. If I look after your doggy I can promise you I will care for them as if they were my own. They will be very welcome to share the sofa and there will be lots of tickling of the tummy! I love going out for walks with dogs and just really treating them like part of the family I have just retired from work so I have plenty of time. I do go out and about though so won’t necessarily be at home for the entire day. I have a fenced garden with grass. I live next to a large field where many people walk their dogs. My house does not have a road outside so it is very secure.
About: I am a dedicated dog parent and passionate pet lover. I understand that for many of us, our dogs are not just pets, but another member of the family. I get it! Pebbles is like that to us too! When you choose me as your dog sitter, you can rest assured that your dog will receive the same love and attention as my own. As a competitive athlete, I believe in keeping both humans and pets active. Your dog will enjoy a 30-60 minute run each day (stopping for sniff breaks of course!) to ensure it gets the exercise and stimulation they need. They will also have the company of my friendly and playful Pomsky, Pebbles. Together, we'll create a fun, loving environment where your dog can feel at home. Whether its playtime, cuddle time or a refreshing run, I am committed to providing top-notch care that goes beyond the basics. Let me be your dog's new best friend (for the day!) while you're away! I am currently self-employed and working remote fully as a freelancer. Your dog will be with supervised and monitored at all times - they'll never be alone! I have a fenced garden and a Pomsky to keep your pet company. For my dog's meals, I can feed my dog human-quality food that I freshly cook. Pebbles gets at least 60 minutes of exercise every day. Your dog will have the same!
“Thomas was great with our puppy Peggy. Arranged a meet and greet in advance and was very reassuring as this was to be Peggy's first ever doggy daycare. We got messages and pictures at various points during her stay and she obviously made herself quite at home. Would happily rebook.”

About: I've taken care of my own pets, friends and families ever since I was 13 years old. I used to be the neighbourhood dog walker at a young age just for fun! I've also catsit for up to 5 cats as well so I'm happy to take care of either little fluffy delight. I had my own dog for 17 years and she was the love of my life. I live 3 minute away from the park so they can get as many walks as needed or as much attention at home if needed. I have a very big flat that is also perfect for running up and down in and playing fetch. I have very big rooms so they are welcome to roam around or sit with me! I have an absolute massive flat that with lots of space to run around and play games in. I also live a 3 minute walk from the local park so they can get as much exercise and happiness as they like! If I'm coming to yours give me a schedule of your animal and I'll follow it to a T for them.
“My dog seemed very happy with John when I picked him up. Communication was very good with John, who was relaxed and listened to all the caring requirements for my dog. Very highly recommend and will definitely use again!”

About: I have grew up with a Labrador who I was mainly taking care of by myself. In recent years I have been helping my friends and family with looking after their pups. I have some experience with rescue dogs and also looking after four dogs at once. I am working from home with a fair amount of flexibility so I can look after your pup all day weekdays and weekends as well. I am living in a flat with no garden, however only 2 mins walk from a big park. My home is pet friendly as I do often look after dogs of my friends and family.
“I left my anxious senior chihuahua with Amadeusz yesterday as a practice run for a longer stay - he was very understanding of her stress and was able to make friends with her and get her to settle in. He checked in throughout the day to let me know how she was doing & even sent a few pictures. I will book with him again!”

About: Being single and working from home I’ve got plenty of free time and availability to help others care for their beloved pets. Eventually I’ll get my own new best friend but in the meantime it’s an opportunity to get some more practice in whilst earning a few quid. In regards to my own space I have my own 3 bedroom house which has some outdoor space. I’ve also got access to lots of open space close by for walks etc I’ve previously cared for a few dogs and cats so am quite happy that I’ll be able to keep them entertained, fed and watered Currently working from home 3 out of 5 days and available most weekends to look after animals. Work is quite flexible which enables me to step away when required. I have a 3 bedroom house with a small, fenced yard. There’s also a large park about 5 minutes walk away to have a proper explore.
“Blaise was super professional and caring with Poppy. Throughout the day Blaise sent updates and videos. I can tell Poppy had an amazing day with Blaise and will send him to Blaise again in future!!”

Jane was absolutely fantastic with our dogs. She is a very kind and caring person, and it was clear from the start that she genuinely loves animals. Our dogs stayed with her for two days, and the best proof of how happy they were is that on the second day they were excited to go back to her again. They looked relaxed, happy, and well cared for throughout their stay. I would highly recommend Jane to anyone looking for a trustworthy and loving dog sitter. The happiness and excitement of our dogs says it all. Thank you, Jane!

Bettina, thank you so much for looking after my beautiful boy, Toast. You were able to accommodate for us and accept my booking last minute and I cannot tell you what a saviour that was. You kindly let Toast come to visit and say a quick hello before his stay and I felt absolutely at peace leaving him with you. Toast has had a wonderful time with you and Leila (and Bonco!) and I am so grateful to know that he was well looked after. Thank you for everything. I would love to book for Toast to come and stay again! <3

Lilian was absolutely fantastic. She was able to take Ralph at such short notice and was incredibly flexible around timings. She kept in touch with me throughout the day with some photos and videos and Ralph was very happy in her company. I would happily use her again :)

Cristina is SO attentive and loving towards my little Winnie. I feel very comfortable leaving her in Cristina’s hands whilst I’m a work. I get frequent updates throughout the day, letting me know what adventures my pup has been on. Winnie comes home very happy and tired after her wonderful day with Cristina. I would recommend her to anyone.

Veronika was able to help at short notice and is so good with Koby, he’s taken to her really quickly. She sends regular updates and pictures of all of their adventures and he’s always excited to go back! I felt really comfortable leaving him with her and always know he’s being well looked after. She’s even taught him some new tricks!

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later collection to match your Colchester commute.

Your dog’s first day care experience is a big milestone! To help your pup settle in comfortably, we recommend:
- Food and treats portioned for the day, with feeding instructions
- Your dog's lead and collar (ensure tags are up-to-date)
- Any seasonal gear, such as paw-safe wax for winter or a cooling vest for the summer
- Medication, if applicable, with clear dosage notes
- Any special care instructions or training tips to help your sitter provide the most personalised care possible
Tip: Upload this information directly through the Rover app before drop-off. The more context you provide, the better your sitter can tailor the day to your dog.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog's vaccines is the best way to be 'boarding ready'. Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Sitters in East of England may request that your dog be up-to-date on core vaccines, such as Canine Distemper, Canine Parvovirus, Canine Adenovirus (also known as DHP or DHPPi), Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. Cats may be required to have Feline Panleucopenia Virus, Feline Herpesvirus, Feline Calicivirus, and Feline Leukaemia Virus up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poo breaks occured. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available for dedicated customer support by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalised, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
We require sitters to operate in compliance with applicable local licensing requirements. In England, pet sitters who board dogs or provide doggy day care as a business may need a valid licence under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) Regulations 2018. When vetting your sitter, ask if they meet local licensing requirements for dog boarding. This confirmation is important for coverage under the Rover Guarantee. Read more about our requirement for following local licensing requirements .
