“Jacqueline took wonderful care of our cat while we were away. She was reliable, attentive, and made sure he was well-fed and comfortable. We really appreciated the care and attention she gave him, which gave us peace of mind during our trip. We would be happy to have Jacqueline care for our cat again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable pet sitter.”

“I couldn't have chosen a better sitter than Margo! She was so wonderful with my senior cat. She went above and beyond, cleaning up her after her and even taking out her litter bags to the trash. I will definitely hire Margo again whenever I need someone I trust to take care of my girl.”

About: Hi! My name is Dante and I absolutely love dogs. I do not treat this as a job but as a privilege to take care of pets. I have always had a pet in my household, so I am very comfortable with dogs. I am young and promise I will have just as much energy as your dog does. I am very good at butt scratches and belly rubs. I will be prepared for any situation and I am very easy to contact. I understand plans get altered and I am flexible with changing schedules. I will treat your dog as I treat mine and make sure everything is done to the best of my ability. I hope you allow me to make your dog’s day the absolute best I can. Thank you
“Maya was great with our 2 dogs. She was reliable and on time for every visit. We were away for a long weekend and were very busy. Her check ins and pictures of the dogs she sent showed me they were good and well taken care of. I would highly recommend her and I will definitely ask her again.”

“This was my first time ever using Rover & I’m so happy that I chose Amanda. First of all, it was a last minute request and she was kind enough to squeeze us in. She took such good care of Peggie & sent the most adorable picture of Peggie. I cannot thank Amanda enough and I will definitely have Amanda watch Peggie every chance I could!”

“Cara is the best! She takes care of Gambit as if he is her own dog. He looks forward to seeing her, going on walks and playing. I don’t think I’d ever find anyone as great as Cara! I consider her part of the Gambit family”

About: I always knew I wanted to work with animals, but it wasn’t until I started working at a kennel that I discovered my true calling: dog training. In September 2023, I made the decision to pursue this path seriously by attending National K-9 Dog Training School in Ohio, where I earned my certification as a professional dog trainer. Now, I’m proud to turn that passion into a career. I’m deeply committed to helping dogs and their owners build strong, respectful relationships, and I love sharing my training methods to make a positive impact on both ends of the leash. I’m trying to get my small business out into the world and taking small steps like this will help me! I'm currently working part-time, so I'll have plenty of time to play with your fur babies! I'm available for boarding and weekdays. My schedule with my part time job changes each week but I make sure to let my clients know! I will ALWAYS be talking to your fur baby! They become family once entering this home. I currently live in an apartment that has a designated area to bring your dog to have fun off leash!
About: I grew up with rabbits and various small pets. My first dog, Toto, was trained by me in elementary and middle school. Now, I spend my evenings caring for others animals whenever possible! I work 7:30 am to 3 pm as a teacher! My day does allow for a mid day visit, distance depending! Free every evening for walks and lots of attention! Experienced with crate trained dogs and more free range styles. Love building trust with animals and keeping their days typical and calm while their owners are away!
“Jordan is amazing! Our travel plans got messed up and she was super-flexible. She worked with us to make sure our fur babies were safe and cared for. Jordan communicates well and always lets us know if anything is amiss with our pets or our house. She truly goes above and beyond!”

“Thank you for taking such great care of Lady! We could tell by the pictures provided that she had a great time playing in the backyard and she looks forward to hanging out with you again soon!”

A pet sitter can provide focused care sessions, help your pet’s routine stay on track, or keep you updated on your pet’s mood and energy levels.
Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Trainer stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.
Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Trainer. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
