“Paz looked after our senior dog through a tornado warning and heat wave while we were traveling internationally. Paz went way, way above the call of duty by taking our girl to the vet when she started a hunger strike mid-way through the visit. The vet remarked that Paz was very knowledgable, attentive, and great with our girl. Paz has some sort of gift for getting animals to take medications - hopefully she'll offer a "how to" class at some point! And Paz stays in very frequent contact, sending updates and lots of photos. We are so very grateful for Paz!! She is caring, responsible, and very attentive. We cannot recommend her enough.”

“Matthew showed up on time and followed instructions for our dog. He updated me throughout the day and night. He did great watching her and we will definitely be rebooking in the future!”

“Kai and Devon were great pet sitters for us during the week that we were away on vacation! They communicated well with us and provided updates on how our pets were doing. They kept our house clean and even took the time to wash sheets, towels, and blankets before they left. Overall they did a great job for us and we would definitely book them again!”

“Lisa was amazing with Panda! I booked her with less than a week’s notice, and she was incredibly responsive and professional from the start. She took the time to do both a virtual meet-and-greet and an in-person visit beforehand to make sure she and Panda were a good fit and that she was familiar with everything. During the sitting, she kept me updated with regular messages and photos, which gave me a lot of peace of mind. She also made sure Panda got plenty of activity, taking him on at least three walks. I would absolutely recommend Lisa to anyone looking for a reliable and thoughtful pet sitter—I’d definitely book with her again! 🐾”

“Laura was absolutely awesome! Laura truly was the best! She took the very beat care of our home and dogs. Our dogs (who are a bit needy and one special needs) had a smooth and seamless transition into her care. She was thought forward, kind, caring, diligent and followed all our dogs care needs and schedule perfectly. She treated our pups and our home as her own and we are so GRATEFUL! We feel so blessed to have met her and to have her care for our beloved dogs. We were very impressed & our dogs were never so calm upon our return ever. She is wonderful and comes highly recommended and we definitely hope to use her again.”

“This is the second time Chris watched our dog and cat. 100 stars! She is so kind and compassionate and sends me multiple pictures and messages while we are gone. Highly recommend!”

“Heather was great with our 75 pound yellow lab, Whitby. Simply said, she is a fantastic dog/home sitter. Heather being present allowed my wife and I to truly vacation without concern for how our pup is being cared for. We look forward to working with Heather again soon.”

“Michael was awesome. I was able to book him in a pinch after another sitter had to cancel. He is calm, experienced, and Porter was well cared for while we were gone. He communicated with me daily 2-3x day, asked questions if they came up and dealt with a power outage that lasted about 20 hours. It rained a large part of the time we were gone and he diligently walked Porter in the rain. When we got home everything was in order. Dog towels were washed and the house was as we left it. We have used him in the past and will continue to use his services in the future for our dog. We were out of the country and knowing we had a responsible and capable dog sitter was essential.”

She was thorough with communications, messages, and picture updates for the 5 days we were away, she was very affectionate to our dogs, spent lots of time keeping our dogs and cat company, and kept good watch over our home. I would highly recommend Leslie for your pets, and we already plan to use her for another trip next month!”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter! She took care of our dog along with my parents’ two dogs, and gave all three so much love and attention. She was incredibly reliable, responsible, and clearly has a natural way with animals. We really appreciated the daily updates, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. All the dogs were happy and well cared for—we’re so grateful for her help and would absolutely book with her again!”

About: I have devoted my life to learning about animal behavior and enrichment, and I am always eager to use this knowledge to give any pet I care for the best time possible. I have cared for several species over the course of my life, including dogs, cats, fish, rodents and more. I am also someone who is very passionate about dog training using fun, reward-focused techniques to build a strong relationship and help work through any challenges a pup may have. I have volunteered at multiple animal shelters, where I cared for both dogs and cats through cleaning their enclosures, walking them, playing with them and ensuring their needs were met. Overall, I have a very well-rounded knowledge of what it takes to go above and beyond for any pet I’m working with. I am currently in college and I plan for pet sitting to be my major professional focus during this time, so rest assured that your pet will be my top priority when it comes to my work schedule! Because of my intense love for animals, I am always happy and willing to fit any pet into my daily routine and I try to keep an open schedule to accommodate your care needs. Whether I am in your home, going for a walk, or just checking in, all of my energy will go to making sure that your pet is having the best time possible in a kind, supportive environment. Every pet I look after is treated with the same amount of love and care that I give my own on a daily basis.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Trainer
Kai and Devon were absolutely fantastic house and pet sitters for us during the first week of June. Our two dogs, Maxx and Dimble, and our two cats, Minne and Xena, were all clearly happy, relaxed, and very well cared for when we got home. It was obvious they got plenty of attention and love. They also took great care of our home. They brought in our mail and packages, which gave us peace of mind while we were away, and kept everything in excellent shape. The house was tidy and just the way we left it, if not better. We felt completely comfortable being away knowing Kai and Devon were in charge. They were reliable, respectful, and clearly take pride in what they do. We would gladly have them house- and pet‑sit for us again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for trustworthy, caring sitters.
Lisa was fantastic! This was our second time working with her, but our first overnight housesitting stay. A few days before the booking, Panda had a minor injury that required medication and some extra care. Lisa was incredibly flexible and adapted to his updated needs without hesitation. She kept us updated throughout the stay, took great care of Panda, and gave us peace of mind while we were away. We came home to a happy, well-cared-for pup. We’d absolutely book with Lisa again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring sitter!

We are so happy to have found Paige to watch our two girls, Gracie and Scout. Paige was wonderful with the girls, taking them on walks and cuddling in front of the tv, and kept us updated with texts and lots of pictures. It was such a good feeling to know our girls were safe and happy while we were away.

FAQs for House Sitting - Trainer
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of July 2026, there are 5,412 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Trainer. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Trainer walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Trainer maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Trainer choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Trainer. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
