“Matthew took good care of our very large, reactive dog while we were away. He sent us photos daily and was good at communicating if he had any questions. We will definitely be asking Matthew to watch our pup next time we go away.”

“Chris was fantastic with our dogs! Our boy can be a typical husky but Chris was excellent with his high energy! They both seemed to have a wonderful time with her. She took them on nice long walks and lots of play time. We are so thankful to Chris for taking such great care of our babies so we could have a worry free weekend!”

“Heather was great with our 75 pound yellow lab, Whitby. Simply said, she is a fantastic dog/home sitter. Heather being present allowed my wife and I to truly vacation without concern for how our pup is being cared for. We look forward to working with Heather again soon.”

“Amanda could not have been more attentive to my dog Jack. She sent pictures and played with him according to his energy levels since he is 13. I am thrilled to have found Amanda and will be requesting her again !”

About: I’ve had dogs all my life! All different kinds and sizes! I’m at school now and missing my dogs and looking to make a little money. Very flexible with pay! just adjusted from rovers recommended Very Flexible! I’m currently starting my sophomore year of college and looking to do some side work to make a little money. My classes and times are various in different days of the week but am trying to do any walks on my time off. Open for doing a lot of services! I am mostly looking to do just walks but if i need to enter a home i will do it with all respect and joy.
“Paz looked after our senior dog through a tornado warning and heat wave while we were traveling internationally. Paz went way, way above the call of duty by taking our girl to the vet when she started a hunger strike mid-way through the visit. The vet remarked that Paz was very knowledgable, attentive, and great with our girl. Paz has some sort of gift for getting animals to take medications - hopefully she'll offer a "how to" class at some point! And Paz stays in very frequent contact, sending updates and lots of photos. We are so very grateful for Paz!! She is caring, responsible, and very attentive. We cannot recommend her enough.”

“Sabrina was fantastic. She was thankfully available for a last minute house sitting with Franklin. He's a rescue so it can be tricky getting him used to folks. She had no problem getting him out for walks and hanging out with him. Truly appreciative!”

“Leslie was so wonderful- I haven’t left my 3 little guys without family in over 10 years. They are very nervous little guys and have some quirks - she made it all work and made them feel safe. Sent me pictures and updates 2-3 times a day. I could not be more grateful!”

“Kai and Devon were awesome! They were so kind and friendly and our dogs took to them immediately. We knew the dogs were well cared for because of constant communication and pictures. When we came home the house was way tidier than ever before and my husband was so shocked. It was a great surprise to come home to - a sparkling clean house after vacation. Highly recommend and will definitely be booking again for our next vacation.”

“She was very caring to our kitten and gave us lots of updates! We would love to have her come again. I felt very comfortable with her playing and taking care of our cat. She is fantastic :)”

“Shanisa was absolutely amazing! She was able to accommodate a last-minute sitting request. We certainly didn’t make her job easy with big asks, but she was able to make us very happy pet parents! I highly recommend her.”

“Lisa was amazing with Panda! I booked her with less than a week’s notice, and she was incredibly responsive and professional from the start. She took the time to do both a virtual meet-and-greet and an in-person visit beforehand to make sure she and Panda were a good fit and that she was familiar with everything. During the sitting, she kept me updated with regular messages and photos, which gave me a lot of peace of mind. She also made sure Panda got plenty of activity, taking him on at least three walks. I would absolutely recommend Lisa to anyone looking for a reliable and thoughtful pet sitter—I’d definitely book with her again! 🐾”

“Cyndal was amazing! Kept us updated throughout her stay with our pup. Our husky mix can be a bit much for some people but Cyndal wasn’t even phased with her high energy and anxiety. We can’t thank her enough 😊”

About: Hey! My name is Conan and Im a veterinary medicine student. I love working with animals of all types and sizes and I'd love to meet your friend! I have experience fostering and volunteering at animal shelters, including everything from dogs, cats, bottle-fed babies, elderly kitties, reptiles, ducks, chickens, special-needs dogs/cats, and birds. I have a few years of experience dog walking and I have house sat for people with all different pets & for varying amounts of time. I also have two cats (North age 8 & Marcel age 4) and a leopard gecko (Sandwich age 3) of my own! They are my best friends and whole world. I'm currently on break from Veterinary School until the fall. So right now I have completely open availability, any day or time, including nights, weekends, and holidays! Your pet's safety is a non negotiable for me, it is so important to me that your pet feels comfortable with me no matter what we're doing. Establishing a bond with an animal can be the most rewarding experience in the world! When talking about safety with any pet, I take a precautious approach with anything that could become an 'oops!' or a 'hey you, get that out of your mouth!' moment. So I will always take precautions with anything being left out unmonitored like toys, food, anything chewable, stringy, or soft toys, etc. I never want to have to think twice about a preventable accident with your pet, so I always take the time to keep everyone safe. This goes especially for walks, your dog or cat's safety is always going to be at the front of my mind when interacting with any other furry friends nearby, as it is always better to be safe than sorry. Every pet needs a different relationship approach, and different play styles! There are some pets who just want to cuddle, ones who need specific play-styles to be interested, and others who need someone up to the task of frizbee-ing the Tasmanian Devil out of them! I know personally one of my cats only wants to lazily swat at one specific toy he keeps losing, and the other wants to run and leap around for 20 minutes straight. I am dedicated to learning what your pet really likes so they have a great time with me, and you can go to work, over a friends, or on vacation without a worry that they living their best life.
“Sharielle is the best in the business! I actually made sure she was available BEFORE I made my vacation plans because we were flexible but I wanted to make sure she could stay with our dogs again. She sent updates and photos everyday and followed our instructions/preferences for our dogs care. They got plenty of walks and cuddles throughout the week. Additionally, our house was in exactly the same condition as we left because Sheri took care of our house like it was her own.”

“Michael was awesome. I was able to book him in a pinch after another sitter had to cancel. He is calm, experienced, and Porter was well cared for while we were gone. He communicated with me daily 2-3x day, asked questions if they came up and dealt with a power outage that lasted about 20 hours. It rained a large part of the time we were gone and he diligently walked Porter in the rain. When we got home everything was in order. Dog towels were washed and the house was as we left it. We have used him in the past and will continue to use his services in the future for our dog. We were out of the country and knowing we had a responsible and capable dog sitter was essential.”

Erin watched Sonny for me again and was amazing. She was on time, kept Sonny busy which he loves, walked him multiple times, and just over all great. Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Woodacres walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Woodacres maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Woodacres choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
