Y’all, Kristal is the BEST. I messed up my dates and ended up out of town without a sitter. She showed up within 4 hours and saved me. She sent loads of pictures to ease my mind and was kind and playful with my kitty. It’s worth everything to know your pet is safe and happy and Kristal made that happen

About: I grew up with many pets. For example, I’ve had 6 birds, 3 hamsters, 1 dwarf gerbil, 1 leopard gecko, 2 cats, 2 dogs, and possibly more. I currently have 2 dogs. Both are rescues. Jasper is 2 years old and I’ve had him since he was about a month old if even that, and Raleigh who is 7 now. I’ve had her since she was 2. Aside from the doggy babies, I also currently have a brown anole that I took in from Florida. His name is Tommy and I’ve had him for 4 months now. He was a baby when I found him. I also have 2 fish, Gumball and Penny. I personally believe all animals are babies. I’ve also pet sit for family members before. I’m currently working part time and I’m not yet in school. I do have a lot of free time, and because I don’t live alone I have people home to help take care of my furry and scaled friends, where as some people may need some extra help that I’d be able to provide! I was raised right. I’m respectful, do not cross boundaries, and know better than to disrespect clients (human and animal, of course!) I’m a big empath, I love animals beyond comprehension. I’m a vegetarian that’s working my way to veganism if that can show you how empathetic I am. I also cry while watching Ratatouille. I love walking, I love talking to animals, I treat animals as if they are literal babies because they are just too cute!

About: As a lifelong dog lover and experienced pet owner, I’ve cared for dogs for more than 15 years. Most of my experience has been with medium and small breeds, giving me a strong understanding of their unique personalities, needs, and routines. I provide a safe, reliable, and caring environment where your dog will be treated like family. Whether it’s walks, playtime, or simply keeping them company with cuddles, you can count on me to give your pet the attention and care they deserve. I own a personal training business, which gives me a flexible schedule and allows me to be home throughout the day. When I’m away, it’s typically for scheduled training sessions at the gym. This flexibility allows me to provide attentive, reliable care and plenty of companionship for your dog. Dogs have always held a special place in my heart, and I truly treat every dog in my care as if they were my own. I love spending quality time with them, whether that’s going for walks, tossing a ball around, or simply relaxing together with plenty of cuddles. My goal is to make every dog feel safe, loved, and comfortable while you’re away, giving them the attention and affection they deserve.

Anh was wonderful with our dog Wilbur- she sent us updates and was really sweet to him. She stayed over at our place which we appreciated because our pup can get a little anxious. Anh left us a very nice note and left the house very clean. We will definitely be reaching out to Anh again until the future for dog care!!

About: I’ve grown up around animals my entire life, caring for a variety of pets and learning early on how important patience, consistency, and love are in pet care. Currently, I have a Shih Tzu that I’ve cared for over the past 8 years, so I’m very familiar with daily routines, grooming needs, and providing long-term, attentive care. I’ve also cared for a young Beagle for over two years, which gave me experience with high-energy dogs that require regular exercise, engagement, and structure. What sets me apart is my genuine connection with animals and my ability to adapt to each pet’s personality and needs. Whether it’s keeping an energetic dog active, maintaining a consistent routine, or providing gentle care for more relaxed or older pets, I make sure every animal feels safe, comfortable, and loved. I pay close attention to behavior, routines, and any special instructions, treating every pet as if they were my own. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine since I work from home, which allows me to be present, attentive, and flexible throughout the day. I’m able to provide regular walks, feeding, playtime, and check-ins without long gaps, ensuring pets receive consistent care and companionship. Because I’m home most of the time, I can easily adjust my schedule to meet each pet’s needs, whether that means sticking to a strict routine, giving extra attention, or accommodating special care requests. Pet care is something I genuinely enjoy being part of my everyday life. I provide attentive, personalized care whether pets are in my home or my client’s home. I focus on maintaining each pet’s normal routine to help them feel comfortable, secure, and stress-free. This includes following feeding schedules, regular walks, playtime, and any specific instructions provided by the owner. In a client’s home, I make sure to respect their space while keeping their pet’s environment clean, calm, and familiar. I also would provide updates, photos, and communication so owners feel confident and connected while they’re away. If caring for pets in my home, I create a safe, welcoming environment where they receive plenty of attention, supervision, and affection. I’m mindful of each pet’s temperament and needs, whether that means giving energetic dogs lots of activity or providing a relaxed space for more laid-back or senior pets. Above all, I treat every pet like my own by prioritizing their safety, comfort, and happiness at all times.

Tia was an awesome, Dog Sitter for our 70 pound, somewhat anxious, rescue dog, Lucy. She instantly knew how to make Lucy comfortable and feel secure, which is no small feat. She was also completely reliable., showing up on time, responding quickly to questions, taking as much time as we needed during our meet and greet. I cannot recommend Tia highly enough.

Ashley was fantastic! One of the best rover experiences we’ve had. She did everything we requested and more. It’s evident that she loves dogs and our dogs loved her too, even our fragile shelter pup who takes awhile to warm up. Both our pups were calm, energetic and happy when we got home, couldn’t have asked for more.

FAQs for House Sitting - Thrift

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 9,374 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Thrift. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Thrift walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Thrift maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Thrift choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Thrift. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
