“Jordyn is great! She was extremely professional and caring towards my anxious senior dog. She was very attentive to the instructions given and eager to spend time with my pup. She sent lots of pictures during our trip and let me know how my dog was doing. She was easygoing and flexible with housesitting, and was super respectful of my space. Highly recommend!”

“Leila is an incredible human and so trustworthy in every way! We had the pleasure of spending time with her and getting to know one another before we went out of the country leaving our home and fur babies in her care! I did not worry about the pups or anything else knowing Leila was here. She kept I’m close touch and sent many photos to us while we were away. Please don’t hesitate to allow Leila in your home or to care for your pets. Thank you ever so much, Leila! You’re just the best!”

“Ciara was an awesome pet sitter while we were gonna for a long weekend. Extremely responsive and sent us pics and updates of our little girls! I would highly recommend Ciara’s services and will absolutely rebook her in the future.”

“Loren is the absolute sweetest!! She took great care of all 5 of our furbabies and home. We got so many photo updates and everyone seemed so happy and content which was such a treat since our big boy is normally very stressy when we are gone. She will be our go to from now on!”

“Ashlee took great care of our older dogs, she adjusted to their routine well (including giving medications) and kept me updated daily. I’d recommend her for your fur babies too!”

“This was the first time we used Maycee and she was wonderful. Took great care of our boys, sent pics every day, and left the house nice and clean. She communicated daily to let us know how it was going. Will definitely use her again.”

“Jackson was so attentive and took great pride in caring for Rocky. Also, our flight from London was cancelled and the day after this booking expired, he stayed the extra night and gave me such peace of mind I wasn’t scrambling t find a different person, family/friends to help. Can’t thank you enough for your great care. Also was very responsible while staying in our home.”

“Brianna and Sam were terrific from start to finish! Our two goldendoodle pups had a great time getting lots of head rubs, retrieving balls, and playing tug-of-war in the back yard. Brianna sent pics and updates daily, which were much appreciated! Her communication was excellent and it was great to go away for over a week and feel certain our home and the pups were in good hands.”

About: I grew up with all kinds of dogs and have raised several large breed dogs myself. It currently isn’t the right time for me to welcome a new dog into my life full time but I miss having the company. I’m currently working from home so I have lots of flexibility for cuddles, walks and potty breaks. I’m also a runner and happy to take any high energy dogs out for a tour. I do not have a backyard but am close to parks where we can walk. I have space for a dog bed or crate if needed. My neighborhood is dog friendly.
About: I have had pets for 20 plus years. Ranging from small critters like snakes and gerbils to Saint Bernards. My experience ranges from training basic commands at the puppy stage to caring for sick and aging fur babies. I am currently working remote from home during the week. I can drop in anytime prior to 7:30am, between 12:00pm and 12:30pm and anytime after 5:15pm. I am completely available and flexible on the weekends. I currently reside in an apartment complex. For daycare purposes only dogs 40lbs or smaller to ensure the dog has ample room to move around and does not feel confined. Multiple 30 minute walks are given daily to ensure exercise and playtime may happen.

“Rebecca was great with Tink for our 6 day trip out of town! Tink has some behavioral issues and reactivity with others dogs, but Rebecca handled it like a professional. She even brought Tink a new toy to keep her busy in the backyard. We highly recommend Rebecca for watching your home and pets.”
“Wow! So happy we had these guys come and watch our four cats! They are amazing! Definitely a dream team! They are so organized and conscientious and the care of your pets. We had a lot of pictures and were able to relax and enjoy our time away so we didn’t have to worry about our home or pets. It’s so nice to have sitters that treat your pets like you treat your pets. We are definitely having them house sit and pet sit from now on. Thank you so much guys!”

“Ashley was so great with my dog. She is very attentive and great with communication! I felt like my dog would be disappointed when we returned from our trip because he got so much more love and attention with Ashley 😆”

“We were away for two weeks and Blyth stayed at our house for the 2nd time. She is amazing. She had a devastating family emergency come up while we were away and she never even considered leaving early. She goes above and beyond and our 8 month old springer adores her. We were comfortable he was loved on and in great hands.”

“I cannot say enough good things about Brice. My husband and I had to travel to see my father as he’s in hospice and she made us feel so comfortable knowing our two girls were well taken care of. I would recommend Brice over and over, you will find no one better.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - The Pinery
Miah stayed overnight with our Golden Retriever when we found out we needed to travel to an area exceeding 100 degree temperatures. Our plans changed from driving to flying. Not having a lot of lead time, we relied on Rover’s review reports… and Miah’s reviews were wonderful. Miah was organized, had a truly positive attitude and was affectionate toward our dog. We appreciated the photos and activity updates she sent of our dog, and knew our dog was in good hands. The best part? Coming home to our dog who was happy and playful. Well cared for!! Our review is the same as others… excellent!! (Thank you, Miah!)
Cami and Jessy was absolutely wonderful with Bruno. They gave him so much love and attention, and kept us updated daily with fotos and video clips. They also administrated his medicine with no problems. Our home was spotless when we arrived after two weeks of vacation. I highly recommend Cami and Jessy - you can be sure your pet will be well looked after and care for with love. Thank you!

I’m so happy we found Blyth. We were out of the country for two weeks and were nervous because we have never left our dogs alone for that length of time. Blyth took amazing care of our dogs- she sent daily updates and I could tell the dogs were relaxed and being loved. In fact, when she came over the morning before we left our dogs were excited to see her! That put my mind at ease. Blyth is a natural animal lover and we wouldn’t hesitate to have her house and dog sit for us again. She also took great care of the house while we were gone which was unexpected but greatly appreciated. Thank you again Blyth!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred The Pinery walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in The Pinery maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in The Pinery choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
