Chan took very good care of my pet during his stay, kept me up to date, sent me pics throughout and is very tidy. I was very comfortable being away with my pet under his care. He went above and beyond to communicate with me to check on potential flight delays to ensure I would be home on time. I will def use Chan's service again.

Chloe did a great job watching my dog. He was fine at first but later got a little defensive and uneasy. She handled it really well, figured out how to work with him, and kept him comfortable. I really appreciated the frequent photo updates and check-ins they gave me peace of mind while I was away. I’d definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a patient and reliable sitter

Allana did great with my puppy! She was super flexible with what we needed and made sure to be attentive with my puppy both inside the house and when she took him on walks. He was comfortable enough to eat, sleep, and play with her! We came back to a puppy who was out for the rest of the night! It can be really hard to leave your puppy with someone, especially in your own home, (my puppy is only 4 months) but allana did a great job and I’d hire her again.

My dream is to turn my passion for pet sitting into a full time career because nothing brings me more joy than caring for animals. As a local elementary school educator, I’m a trusted and responsible caregiver. When I’m not caring for pets or teaching, you’ll often find me exploring local parks or volunteering at the shelter. I will send regulate pictures and text updates and I can’t wait to meet you and your furry family members! My schedule will be fully open for the next few months. All of my services will be avaliable morning, afternoon and night time. (Depending on what is needed)! When caring for pets in your home, I focus on maintaining their usual routine to keep them comfortable and happy. I follow your instructions carefully—feeding schedules, exercise, medication, and any special needs—while giving lots of love, attention, and playtime. I also keep your home safe and secure, and I provide regular updates with photos so you can relax knowing your pet is well cared for. If boarding your pet at my home, I create a calm and welcoming environment tailored to each pet’s personality. Since I don’t have pets of my own, your pet will have all the attention and space they need. I make sure they get plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, and affection, and I keep a close eye on their health and wellbeing throughout their stay. Whether in your home or mine, my priority is making sure your pet feels safe, loved, and cared for as if they were my own.

Fate is fantastic! I cannot say enough good things about how incredibly flexible and accommodating she was throughout the entire process, which allowed for us to be able to enjoy our holidays across the country without having to worry about Tank (our dog) back at home. We spoke everyday and received lots of pictures, keeping us reassured that he was happy and in good hands. Our main ask for a sitter is to try and spend as much time with our boy as much as possible, and she really never left his side - which he clearly loved, as he was cuddling up to her in every pic we received! She is as nice as can be and left her house spotless after her stay! I would absolutely book with her again and recommend you do the same! :) Thanks, Fate, for helping make our holiday possible and for looking after our baby while we were away. You’re the best!

About: I personally have a cat and dog of my own and I’ve taken care of them, I am very precise when it comes to my babies. I will treat your fur babies just like they were my own. I believe every pet is unique in their own way, that what makes them adorable. Pet care fit into my daily or even weekly routine by getting me out there around all kinds of fur babies. I currently go to school at ECU so it would be a great stress reliever just to play or walk with pets. I would be available for weekends and on weekdays, preferably Monday after 2 and Fridays free all day unless booked otherwise. I would care for them in my home by making sure they feel safe and comfortable to roam around without any hesitation. In clients homes I would make sure the client feels secured that their pets are in the right hands sending photo updates while I am there if needed.

About: Hey there, I'm Joyce and I've been taking care of my neighbors and friends animals for most of my life (25+ years). I am partial to dogs, but guess who can change a litter box too? Me! I also love cats and other critters. I also use Rover when I'm out of town, so I know what it's like. I hold high standards for myself and the care of your pet(s). Your pet will be treated like my own (I have 3), with respect and a lot of love! I'm looking for part-time work as I want to go back to school this fall. I love animals , the outdoors, and a good walk! (I have limited availability on the weekends, please inquire and we may be able to make it work!) Overnight stays: I will try to spend as much time at your house as you want me to, but I may have a few errands to run during the day and make sure my own dogs stretch their legs too. In your home, I'm a well-mannered guest. I don't have to stay in your home if you don't need me to. Your animals will be treated with respect.

Fabulous sitter for my four fur babies. She was keenly in tune with their stress levels, provided ample walks, and handled an unexpected encounter with two aggressive dogs with professionalism. She kept calm, de-escalated the incident, assessed all dogs for injuries (luckily, no one was injured), and provided care and comfort to help my two dogs de-stress. I highly recommend Andie to provide care to your fur babies. I will be using her services often.

I can’t say enough great things about Natasha and the care she provided for Ponyo and Tarot while I was away. She stayed in my home and treated it—and my pets—with the utmost respect and love. From the moment we met, I felt completely at ease leaving everything in their hands. Ponyo and Tarot were clearly well cared for, happy, and relaxed when I returned. Natasha followed all care instructions perfectly and took extra time to make sure both girls got plenty of attention, affection, and playtime. The regular updates and photos were such a thoughtful touch and made being away so much easier. On top of taking excellent care of my pets, she left my home spotless!! honestly, it may have been cleaner than when I left! It’s clear she takes a lot of pride in her work and genuinely cares about the animals (and homes) they look after. Highly, highly recommend—Ponyo, Tarot, and I are so lucky to have found Natasha and on such short notice!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Tarawa Terrace on Rover is $46.62 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of August 2026, there are 306 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Tarawa Terrace. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Tarawa Terrace walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Tarawa Terrace maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Tarawa Terrace choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Tarawa Terrace. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
