“fantastic and attentive sitter! Christine was awesome with my two large dogs, she sent picture of dates and was very understanding about all of the instructions that we provided for caring for our dogs. I absolutely would hire this sitter again in the future!”

“Absolutely one of the best!! Extremely reliable and I appreciate all the photo updates ! They even drove through a snow storm to visit remi! Highly recommended :) and can’t thank them enough for helping me with my crazy work schedule!!”

“We are VERY happy with Adaline’s care of our two cats. Her communication and information about the drop-in visits were thorough. She was on-time and sent us a few photos from each check-in. I am comfortable recommending her care and will book her services again in the future if needed.”

“Caymee was amazing! She did a meet and greet with us before watching our dogs which we really appreciated! She was perfectly on time, provided us with detailed check ins and took extra care to help us out beyond that. We will definitely be requesting Caymee anytime she’s available to watch our animal.”

About: Hi there! I'm a part-time teacher, full time animal lover! I've cared for dogs big and small, from puppies to seniors. I use fear-free training and socialization strategies to make pets feel safe, confident, and loved (including with my own puppy, Phoebe). :-) I'm a substitute teacher, meaning that I'm available evenings, weekends, school breaks, and holidays. Reach out and we'll make it work! Please note: currently, I'm only able to house-sit for up to two nights at a time. Thanks for understanding! I work hard to build solid, positive relationships with your pets to keep them safe, secure, and happy! As a puppy-parent myself, I know consistency is key, so I'm always happy to help your pets practice their tricks, obedience, and being on their best behavior. I'm comfortable crating, leashing, and handling pets in their homes and neighborhoods, as well as providing play, socialization, and mental enrichment.
“Hannah was wonderful. I loved the rover card update on her drop in visit with Luna. I will definitely be booking more drop in visits for Luna in the future. Thank you so much for looking in on her while I had a long work day, it really helped ease my mind that she had a good break and playtime when I couldn't be home. I knew Luna was going to be in good hands after our meet and greet!”
“Chandra provided excellent services to our pets and our families needs . She went above and beyond and we are so very grateful, excellent communication and care . We highly recommend Chandra , thank you , thank you ,thank you”

“Ellen was a wonderful cat sitter and truly cared about the needs of my three cats! She was very prompt and responsive and went above and beyond what was expected. I would definitely recommend Ellen and would definitely hire her again!”

About: I am a work from home mom with 4 kids, who will love to play with your pouch! Your dog will always be entertained and given loving attention. Our family dog passed away and our kids are really looking forward to having your dog(s) to love and care for, while you are away. Pet sitting is the perfect opportunity for them to engage, while being comforted by their loss. I have experience with extra large dogs, bathing, and administering medicine. Our last dog was very high need: anxiety, food allergies, dermatitis issues, etc. He required so much attention that has prepared me to adapt to the pet sitting role! My kids are really great around dogs, they know appropriate play and safety rules. We keep all fences locked and a gate at the front door while we have a dog with us. I am widely available to care for your pet. I am a stay at home mom and homeschool the kids, I am almost always around to care for dog(s)! I have a large fully fenced yard your pooch can freely explore and welcome anywhere in the home. I can provide a warm snuggly bed or a quiet area if needed.
“Lisa definitely lived up to the other glowing reviews. She visited our house daily to feed, water and take care of the litter box for our two cats. She is reliable and even made friends with our often-shy Siamese kitty. We appreciated the daily pictures and reports cards while we were away on our week-long trip. We would highly recommend Lisa for your away pet-sitting needs! Hopefully she will still be providing here excellent services the next time we take a trip to visit family.”

“Liza was referred by a sitter I’ve used in the past that I have great confidence in. Liza was flexible and easy to communicate with. I appreciated the updates she provided and could see that my kitty felt safe a comfortable in her care. Thanks Liza!”

About: Had dogs my entire life. Lost my last one a few months ago. Have fenced in yard for them to run. And plenty of toys. I’m retired so I have nothing but time to watch your pet. I walk every day would love to have your dog along for the walk. I have a fenced in yard , and a.good sized back yard with squirrels that need to be chased. Your pet will be welcome in our home.
About: Of my 10 years of pet care experience, 8 of those years includes veterinary medicine. I love all different kinds of animals, and am good with all types of personalities, fear levels, and temperaments. I can also administer medications and care for pets with special needs. My other work is freelance, so my schedule is usually open and flexible. Overnight stays are easy for me to configure, and I'm able to prioritize your pets in my schedule. My main priority is the pets safety and happiness. I have experience de-escalating anxiety, redirecting aggression, and navigating tension between pets. I always double leash dogs for walks and I am experienced with all varieties of leash, walk, and play based behavior.
“Keiha, aside from being a consistently good communicator and great with my dogs, is genuinely the nicest Rover I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know. We look forward to booking her in the future!”

Adaline was amazing! She took such great care of our cat, and we absolutely loved all the photos and videos she sent while we were away. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing our cat was happy and in great hands. Our cat loved her too! We’ll definitely be booking with Adaline again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter!

Caymee was amazing! She did a meet and greet with us before watching our dogs which we really appreciated! She was perfectly on time, provided us with detailed check ins and took extra care to help us out beyond that. We will definitely be requesting Caymee anytime she’s available to watch our animal.

Sarah was really understanding with our very shy kitty. Cleo hid from her the whole time we were away but Sarah made the effort to ensure Cleo was safe and healthy. Sarah scoop the litter box, checked on the food and water, and just let Cleo know she wasn’t alone. Thank you!

Brian was super accommodating and kept us updated throughout the visit on how our dog was doing. I really appreciated the pictures he sent and I could tell Indy was comfortable with him. He was prompt in responding to our communication too. Thank you so much Brian!!

Loui saved the day, literally. After an emergency, my dog was left alone for 28 hours with only two quick walks from strangers. But after a long night, no one was available to feed Quill or hang out him the next morning. Then, Loui came to the rescue. Truly dropping everything, Loui communicated clearly and reassured me everything was ok. Loui cared for Quill when I couldn’t. I really felt cared for by a stranger who went out of their way to support me today. Thank you, Loui. 100/10, would recommend as a responsible, thoughtful, professional, dog sitter.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
