“Kara was amazing with Hershey!! She was so communicative and really made us feel comfortable having someone on our home taking care of our pets! It’s tough to get across all of the quirks of your home and pets but she made our trip more enjoyable! Looking forward to using her again!”

“Absolutely incredible. I needed a sitter for my pup last minute and Jess went out of her way above and beyond to squeeze in a meet and greet as well as watching my furbaby. About: HIGHLY EXPERIENCED WITH DOGS THAT HAVE BEHAVIORAL ISSUES!! Eager to work! :) I have grown up with, and helped care for, dogs my whole life. For the past 3 years I have been training my dog, currently with assistance from a trainer. He was fearful-reactive and is now an amazing service dog in training. I have been a volunteer at the world’s largest no-kill shelter for 2 years now. I have handled dogs of all ages, sizes, breeds, and temperaments. I have worked with blind and senior dogs. I have run puppy play groups, as well as puppy mill, senior, and teen play groups. some behavioral challenges in dogs that I have worked with include: fearful; reactive; food and/or object possessive; stranger danger; seperation anxiety; dog vs dog aggression; strong leadership; mouthy; and more i’m sure i’m forgetting. I have taken several extensive dog training classes to improve my skill and knowledge. I was the first 16 year old to reach one of the most advanced dog levels. I am very well-versed in understanding dog body language. I have dealt with sick dogs as well as dogs with skin conditions. I have helped get the neighbors dog to eat, as well as go potty and play, and dog walked for several clients. I also have experience with cats from the shelter as i have taken advanced feline behavior classes. I am able to understand cat body language fairly well. I have worked with cats as well as kittens, and cat sat several times. I can care for, and clean up after, dogs and/or cats. I will always respect your pets boundaries. I am currently an undergrad with the goals of becoming a veterinarian! I will genuinely treat your fur babies as my own. My dedication and passion truly is to ALL animals. 🩷 I am a full time college student. I regularly update my calendar to show my availability. Make sure to check there! Can’t wait to hear from you :) I will make sure your pet has fresh food and water, as well as making sure there is nothing clearly dangerous left out that the pet could hurt themselves with or eat. I will ensure everything is as it was when I came, as well as closing and locking any doors I used. I will dispose of animal waste as instructed. On walks I have a steady balance and strong leash hold to ensure the dog stays with me. I may carry treats with me for minor training/intervention (if allowed and if the dog pulls or something like that). If your dog is scared of certain things or creatures I will take precautions to avoid anything triggering to the dog. Lastly, I will certainly make sure the pet(s) feel loved, happy, and relaxed.

“Let me start by saying Kristen was amazing! After having a bad experience with a previous dog sitter, I was very nervous about having someone new watch my two pups. Kristen put me at ease- she took time out to come over and meet me and the dogs before her stay started. She checked in often with pictures and videos of my pups and even left some sweet printed out photos of them for me once I returned. I cannot recommend her enough and will definitely be booking her again!”

“Trevor was wonderful! He was very attentive to all our house sitting and pet sitting needs. We felt great leaving our Zoey girl in his care and highly recommend his services.”

About: Hicksville/SOB Rd.& OCR... Home FULL TIME, Dogs are in a low stress enviroment. There is a bedroom on the main floor just for dogs who need not climb the stairs, and I will sleep with them too! My yard is fully fenced in a nice neighborhood for walks if requested. I do require a meet and greet prior to sitting your dog to make sure we are a match. Please bring your vet papers of vaccination. I'm home FT Drop off times-flexible Pick up times-Before 1:00 pm, after 1pm you will be charged an additional $25.00 for Boarding. My husband will stay with your dog if I have any errands to run. I will be with your pet as much as possible playing Fetch, Belly Rubs, Snuggling, or just looking out the window watching other doggies walk by or talking to the mailman! I know most of the dogs in my neighborhood from walking my son Mickey. Mickey is super friendly, and cuddly Puggle. He is 10 years old and unfortunately he has limited eye site. He shares, and loves doggies to visit. The reason I do this: I would love 2 dogs, but my husband says there's not enough room on our bed. So having sleep overs fills my need for a 2nd dog. Depending on the time of year along with the weather my husband will walk your dog With Mickey if requested. Bedtime is always on the first floor with me in our guest room, they can snuggle in bed with Mickey and I or curl up in a dog bed in the room. Snacks are given if you allow just bring your own. We have an in ground pool and will personally supervise your dog when the pool is open. If your pet swims, bring their swim vest! Again I do require all vaccines be up to date, and that you have a flea and tick preventive in use of your choice. Please bring that information during our Meet and Greet along with any needs for your fur baby and any questions you may have. Meet and Greet is in my home to assure we are a match allowing us to get acquainted for you to see our surroundings. They are free and can take 15-45 minutes. We will meet according to both our schedules. You can go away on your vacations, or quick day trips knowing your dog is in a happy loving environment. Bring what your dog needs to feel at home, leash, food, their bed/blanket (we have extra beds and dog dishes), favorite toy, or snacks. My house is small but our hearts are big❤️, we have room to make all our pets feel like they are home! I don't like to take more then 3 dogs at a time for sleep overs. That's just enough for me and my husband to stay cozy with your pet and mine. One at a time is preferred. I also administer medication both oral and injected for those needing.
“We asked Andrea to watch our 4 dogs (including 2 puppies) while we went to Ireland for a week - not an easy task for anyone! When there were hiccups, she informed us right away and we returned to our pets being healthy and safe. She also fed our parrot as well as our outdoor cats. Even my plants were well taken care of!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Syosset on Rover is $48.08 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 18,248 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Syosset. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Syosset walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Syosset maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Syosset choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Syosset. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
