Elaine was attentive, kind, and just a joy with my doggies. I got updates and pictures without ever having to ask, and she showed so much empathy and understanding when one of my dogs had a behavioral lapse. I highly recommend her.

About: Hi! I’m Cassandra, a caring, reliable, and experienced dog lover who has grown up caring for dogs and understands how much love, patience, and attention they need. I currently have a 6-year-old Bichon Shih Tzu who is a big part of my family, so I’m very comfortable with daily walks, playtime, cuddles, and keeping a pup happy and comfortable. I’ll treat your dog with the same care and affection I give my own, while making sure every walk and sit is safe, fun, and stress-free! 🐾 if you are happy with my services, tips are greatly appreciated. I work part time in Huntington. I work Tuesday through Friday in office and Thursday’s remote, 10-4 Weekends are free, and Mondays I am off. I am very personable with animals and their parents. I take a lot of time and care into my work with pets and people, and their homes too.

About: I have been trusted by my neighbors & close friends to take care of their dogs over the years. I am open to accommodating different diets, cooking food for your fur baby, bathing/grooming & administering medications (if needed) & walk schedules. I have owned both young and senior dogs from when I was a child and I consider them a part of my family. Any dog in my care would be considered my family, they deserve the best and to feel comfortable and cared for while their dog parent(s) are away. I have an enclosed fenced in backyard and beaches and nature parks/(dog park) are in close vicinity to my home. I am currently available full time to take care of your fur baby. I offer both daytime and overnight boarding services in my home for up to 2 dogs, house sitting services, drop-in visits, & dog walking. Pets in my care would be on a feeding and walk schedule/itinerary that is prepared for them by their owner. Of course playtime and loads of attention and fun will be incorporated into their daily routine! Owners can bring their dog's favorite chew toy or pet bed to make them feel more comfy along with any other supplies deemed necessary. Pets I am watching are more than welcome to sleep on my couch or bed. I am also happy to oblige client requests for photo & video updates of their pets for the duration of their stay.

I cannot say enough about Ashley! She spent the weekend with my dogs and she was FABULOUS! The sweetest young lady. My dogs LOVE her (and they don’t love many!!). Ash sent me pictures all weekend, great communication- such an incredible demeanor with the dogs. I literally feel like for the first time in years, I can actually go away with total confidence and trust that my dogs are in the best of hands. She is really special.

About: I am passionate about having happy pets and Pet Parents. I would treat each dog as if they were my own. My two fur babies include two ShihZu/terrior mixes Rugby and Veuve. Having my own dogs helps me understand on a personal level the type of care each pet parent would want for their family member. In my experience I have dog sat for a puppy Doodle for a family friend named Allison , an older Doodle named Bryland owned by my friend Ryan also for a puppy named Molly who needed supervision after a medical procedure . All would attest that their dogs were very well taken care of.I also have experience with walking dogs at a local animal shelter Save A Pet. I also helped care for cats there as well.

Teddy also loves to snuggle, and Jordan obliges! My home is left in perfect shape, and Jordan communicates and sends updates, which all pet Moms love! I will work with Jordan again.

About: I've had many different dogs over the years: labs, pit bull mixes, miniature pinscher, and german shepherds. I especially love GSDs and am very comfortable walking and taking care of them. I've dog walked/sat for a Rhodesian ridgeback mix as well as a springer spaniel. I was also owner to rescue dogs with severe anxiety. Overall, I'm comfortable with many different dogs! I'm currently working online, so I’m pretty flexible most weekdays. I'm often out and about finding new walking spots and exploring the neighborhoods. I have access to a car, so it's easy for me to stop by. I understand the safety precautions necessary to having a dog in the area with street crossing and other pedestrians and dogs. I will always prioritize your pet's safety!

Cassidy took great care of our dog Scooby, who is a 100 pound German shepherd. She spent the night in our house with him, took him out multiple times a day, fed and played with him, while sending us pictures and keeping us updated throughout our entire trip. Scooby never had a sitter before but Cassidy made him feel comfortable the entire time. We arrived home to a happy and healthy boy. We would absolutely recommend Cassidy and hope to use her again in the future!

Michelle was absolutely great taking care of our little one and our home while we were gone for 13 days. She is a rare find and a truly calm, gentle soul. She definitely earned all her great reviews. We did a meet and greet first where she came to our home and we knew after that meeting that she was the one! Finding a great pet/house sitter is harder than it seems. So many on Rover don't really seem to understand the meaning of house sitting. It means you actually live in the house with the fur babies not leave every 4 hours and be gone all day. Rest assured Michelle will live in your house so your anxious fur baby remains in their comfort zone and routine. I work from home so I wanted to mimic that level of human presence that out little guy has become accustomed to and she was able to provide that. Michelle took care of little chores like watering plants and feeding our fish, but most importantly she took care of our little baby with plenty of play time and constant companionship. She was very responsive over messenger even though we were in another country. And when we came home the house was perfectly clean and in order. We highly recommend Michelle for pet/house sitting and we will certainly be using her again!

About: I’ve grown up surrounded by animals—dogs(5), cats(2), and even lizards—so caring for pets comes naturally to me. From playful puppies to gentle seniors, I give every pet the love, patience, and attention they deserve. I’ve adopted most of my own pets and know how to make animals feel safe, comfortable, and happy while you’re away. Being away for college makes me miss my own pets so caring for yours is a joy that feels like home. Im currently in school but am in class on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:50 am and 3:30 pm. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I am in class from 9 am to 12 pm and free for the rest of the day. On Fridays I have on class at 11 am and nothing prior or after. The weekends are also free. I will always prioritize safety and respect when caring for pets in their own homes. I follow all the owner’s rules carefully—whether it’s about feeding schedules, playtime limits, or medication. I make sure doors and gates are secure, and keep a close eye on the pet’s behavior to spot any signs of stress or discomfort. I creating a calm, comforting environment so pets feel safe and loved while their family is away. Communication with the owner is important to me, so I keep them updated and address any concerns promptly. My goal is to make both pets and owners feel confident and comfortable.

FAQs for House Sitting - Oyster Bay

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Oyster Bay on Rover is $46.28 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 18,476 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Oyster Bay. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Oyster Bay walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Oyster Bay maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Oyster Bay choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Oyster Bay. On Rover:

  • 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
