About: HIGHLY EXPERIENCED WITH DOGS THAT HAVE BEHAVIORAL ISSUES!! Eager to work! :) I have grown up with, and helped care for, dogs my whole life. For the past 3 years I have been training my dog, currently with assistance from a trainer. He was fearful-reactive and is now an amazing service dog in training. I have been a volunteer at the world’s largest no-kill shelter for 2 years now. I have handled dogs of all ages, sizes, breeds, and temperaments. I have worked with blind and senior dogs. I have run puppy play groups, as well as puppy mill, senior, and teen play groups. some behavioral challenges in dogs that I have worked with include: fearful; reactive; food and/or object possessive; stranger danger; seperation anxiety; dog vs dog aggression; strong leadership; mouthy; and more i’m sure i’m forgetting. I have taken several extensive dog training classes to improve my skill and knowledge. I was the first 16 year old to reach one of the most advanced dog levels. I am very well-versed in understanding dog body language. I have dealt with sick dogs as well as dogs with skin conditions. I have helped get the neighbors dog to eat, as well as go potty and play, and dog walked for several clients. I also have experience with cats from the shelter as i have taken advanced feline behavior classes. I am able to understand cat body language fairly well. I have worked with cats as well as kittens, and cat sat several times. I can care for, and clean up after, dogs and/or cats. I will always respect your pets boundaries. I am currently an undergrad with the goals of becoming a veterinarian! I will genuinely treat your fur babies as my own. My dedication and passion truly is to ALL animals. 🩷 I am a full time college student. I regularly update my calendar to show my availability. Make sure to check there! Can’t wait to hear from you :) I will make sure your pet has fresh food and water, as well as making sure there is nothing clearly dangerous left out that the pet could hurt themselves with or eat. I will ensure everything is as it was when I came, as well as closing and locking any doors I used. I will dispose of animal waste as instructed. On walks I have a steady balance and strong leash hold to ensure the dog stays with me. I may carry treats with me for minor training/intervention (if allowed and if the dog pulls or something like that). If your dog is scared of certain things or creatures I will take precautions to avoid anything triggering to the dog. Lastly, I will certainly make sure the pet(s) feel loved, happy, and relaxed.

I cannot say enough about Ashley! She spent the weekend with my dogs and she was FABULOUS! The sweetest young lady. My dogs LOVE her (and they don’t love many!!). Ash sent me pictures all weekend, great communication- such an incredible demeanor with the dogs. I literally feel like for the first time in years, I can actually go away with total confidence and trust that my dogs are in the best of hands. She is really special.

If I could vote 6/5, for Jill as a petsitter, I would. I was leaving for a much-needed vacation, 8 days, and at the last minute, my friend who was to watch my dog, Kasey Jane, and my 8-month old kitten, Lenta (Polenta!), became sick. I reached out to Jill on Rover, having never met her before and she responded immediately. Jill jumped in and efficiently, pleasantly and with a true love of my beloved pets, saved the day! Jill also stayed with my two lovable furballs overnight. During my trip, Jill sent photos of my pets, further putting my mind at ease and allowing me to enjoy my vacation. When I returned, it was as if I'd never left - Kasey and little Lenta were happy and well cared for and my home was in the nice order I'd left it. I strongly urge anyone looking for a pet/home sitter to hire Jill!

This was my first time using Rover and Jordan made it a great experience for me and my "babies". He stayed overnight for a long weekend with my cat and dog and I couldn't ask for a better person. I left detailed instructions as my cat requires medication twice daily and the dog attempts to always steal his food, so it takes skill to feed them! Jordan was very responsive to any inquiries I had and provided updates. Jordan is very responsible and trustworthy and I will be using him again soon. (My dog fell in love with Jordan @ first sight. He kept barking to be picked up and held by Jordan the whole time we were together going over things!).

About: I’ve grown up around dogs and have been caring for them most of my life, so being attentive to their needs comes naturally to me. I treat every pet like they’re my own; making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I’m reliable, patient, and pay close attention to routines, whether that’s feeding schedules, walks, or just giving them the extra affection they’re used to. I’ll always keep you updated with photos and check-ins for peace of mind. I’m especially patient with shy or anxious dogs and take the time to help them feel at ease. My fiancé, Eric has also always grown up with dogs and was responsible for taking care of dogs and his cat while growing up and they all lived will into their senior years. He is great with more high energy and active dogs, going on long walks, or runs and hikes with them. I work full time where I commute Monday-Friday. Weekends I’m home. My Fiancé also works full time but he gets out a little earlier than I do. For weekend stays we are available to give your furry family the most attention and care. If there is need during the week I’m usually away from home for 10 hours during the day including my commute time to and from work. We will walk and feed them before we leave in the morning and as soon as either of us gets home will do the same and then again before bedtime. In our home, pets are cared for in a calm, safe environment. We live on the second floor of a house in a suburban neighborhood with sidewalks, which allows for safe, structured walks. While we don’t have direct yard access, we make sure dogs get regular walks, exercise, and attention. I also have a senior cat who is naturally shy and takes time to warm up, so I’m very understanding of pets who may be anxious or need a slower, more gentle approach. In a client’s home, I focus on maintaining your pet’s normal routine as closely as possible whether that’s feeding schedules, walks, playtime, or quiet time. I’m attentive to their behavior and needs, and I always aim to make them feel comfortable and secure while you’re away.

We felt great leaving our Zoey girl in his care and highly recommend his services.

About: After having to rehome my sweet Morkie (Maltese-Yorkie mix) due to housing arrangements, I’ve made it my mission to love and care for every pet as if they were my own. Your furry friend’s comfort and happiness will always come first with me! I never tire of playtime and have plenty of energy to keep up with even the most playful pups—but I also adore snuggling with laid-back dogs who just want some company. Since I love being outdoors and staying active, I’d be more than happy to take your dog on long walks or fun outdoor adventures. And for the cat parents out there—I’m a huge cat lover and would be thrilled to care for your feline friends. 😊 I work from home full-time with a flexible schedule, which means I have plenty of time to devote to your furry friends. My schedule is open and adaptable, so feel free to reach out with any inquiries—I’ll do my best to make it work! I live in a rental home without access to a backyard, but I’m just a short 10-minute walk from a park I know well and love visiting with pets. At home, I have two older, friendly cats who are very relaxed and comfortable around dogs. I’m happy to care for your pets in whatever way works best—whether that’s playing indoors at your home, enjoying some outdoor time around your neighborhood, or heading to the park for extra fun and exercise!

FAQs for House Sitting - Mill Neck

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of July 2026, there are 18,318 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Mill Neck. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Mill Neck walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Mill Neck maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Mill Neck choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Mill Neck. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
