“Remi did a great job house sitting for our 13 year old chocolate lab, Mocha. She was very caring, responsible, prompt, and communicated with us throughout the weekend. I would highly recommend her and would definitely use her again.”

“I cannot say enough about Ashley! She spent the weekend with my dogs and she was FABULOUS! The sweetest young lady. My dogs LOVE her (and they don’t love many!!). Ash sent me pictures all weekend, great communication- such an incredible demeanor with the dogs. I literally feel like for the first time in years, I can actually go away with total confidence and trust that my dogs are in the best of hands. She is really special.”

“I am a repeat client of Jordan's and he is excellent. My pets love him, he takes the dog for long walks [Teddy needs exercise!], and he makes sure my cat with CKD is eating. Teddy also loves to snuggle, and Jordan obliges! My home is left in perfect shape, and Jordan communicates and sends updates, which all pet Moms love! I will work with Jordan again.”

About: Hiya! I’m Bea, a college student with years of hands on experience caring for both dogs and cats. While I don’t currently have pets of my own, I’ve spent most of my life helping care for the pets of friends and neighbors. Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and I’m usually the person everyone asks to watch their pets when they’re away! What sets me apart is the amount of care and attention I give every animal. I take the time to learn each pet’s personality, routine, and comfort level so they feel safe and happy while you’re away. Whether your pet is energetic and playful or shy and cautious, I’m patient and let them adjust at their own pace. I’m experienced with: - Puppies and kittens - Senior dogs and cats - Large and small dog breeds - Multi pet households - Administering medications (including pills and eye drops) - Feeding, walking, bathing, brushing, cleaning litter boxes and/or pee pads, and playtime - Basic training, including recall and simple commands One of the puppies I currently care for has been with me since she was about 2-3 months old. We’ve worked on recall and basic tricks together, and I love helping young dogs build confidence while making learning fun. During teething, I noticed she had stopped eating her dry food, so after discussing it with her owner, I recommended switching to a softer option and monitored her closely afterward to make sure she adjusted well. I also have experience with senior cats, including caring for an 18 year old cat with vision and mobility changes. I understand that every stage of life comes with different needs, and I’m happy to adapt my care accordingly. When we’re out on walks, I always bring waste bags and water, and I make safety my top priority. At home, I enjoy keeping pets engaged with play, enrichment, cuddles (if they want them!), and plenty of attention. I’m also more than happy to send frequent photo and video updates, because I know how comforting it is to see your pet happy while you’re away. I’m a bit of a neat freak, so you’ll never have to worry about coming home to a mess. I’m happy to clean up after pets and even help with little household tasks like bringing in mail or watering plants if needed. My goal is simple: I want every pet to feel loved, safe, and cared for as if they were my own. I know how much trust it takes to leave your furry family member with someone else, and I take that responsibility very seriously. I can’t wait to meet you and your best friend! As a college student taking one class each weekday morning during the summer, I have a very flexible schedule and plenty of time to dedicate to your pet. Outside of class, I’m available for walks, drop in visits, daycare, and house sitting. I believe every pet deserves individual attention, so I make sure they get plenty of exercise, playtime, affection, and mental enrichment while you’re away. Your pet’s safety and comfort will always be my top priority. I like to spend the first little while getting to know your pet’s personality and comfort level so I can adjust my care to their individual needs. Every animal is different, and I believe they deserve care that’s personalized rather than having a “one size fits all” ideology. I also take the time to learn each pet’s routine and any special instructions before providing care. During walks, I always bring waste bags and water, pay close attention to my surroundings, and make sure your pet is secure at all times. In your home, I’ll respect your space, keep everything clean, and follow your care instructions closely. I’ll also send regular photo and video updates so you can feel confident knowing your pet is happy and safe.
About: I’ve grown up surrounded by animals—dogs(5), cats(2), and even lizards—so caring for pets comes naturally to me. From playful puppies to gentle seniors, I give every pet the love, patience, and attention they deserve. I’ve adopted most of my own pets and know how to make animals feel safe, comfortable, and happy while you’re away. Being away for college makes me miss my own pets so caring for yours is a joy that feels like home. Im currently in school but am in class on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:50 am and 3:30 pm. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I am in class from 9 am to 12 pm and free for the rest of the day. On Fridays I have on class at 11 am and nothing prior or after. The weekends are also free. I will always prioritize safety and respect when caring for pets in their own homes. I follow all the owner’s rules carefully—whether it’s about feeding schedules, playtime limits, or medication. I make sure doors and gates are secure, and keep a close eye on the pet’s behavior to spot any signs of stress or discomfort. I creating a calm, comforting environment so pets feel safe and loved while their family is away. Communication with the owner is important to me, so I keep them updated and address any concerns promptly. My goal is to make both pets and owners feel confident and comfortable.

About: Currently a 2nd year DVM student at LIU college of veterinary medicine. I have been working in vet hospitals for 6 years, and love to take care of animals. I’m currently a vet student at LIU, so I am mostly available in the evenings and on weekends. But I am more than happy to arrange things as best we can. I can’t offer service in my home, but I am more than happy to pet/housesit for you and do all I can to keep your pets happy.

“Jill was there with my two dogs for the whole day and did a fabulous job. Both of my dogs have different personalities and she took care of them really well. I look forward to having her take care of her dog soon.”

About: Our pets change our lives for the better and I want to make sure they’re well taken care of too. By making connections via talking, playing, training, and grooming I pride myself in providing full care for my furry friends. I make training fun and learn their individual strengths! Pet care is an essential part in my daily routine. Each day begins by walking my pup, refreshing her water and food bowls. At the end of the day, I’m cleaning and prepping to start out routine over, putting toys away and doing our last walk of the night. I love taking my pups out downtown or to the dog park. If it’s dog-friendly, why aren’t we bringing the beans?! Everyone is always happy, fed, hydrated, and well played with. Pet hygiene and environmental cleanliness go hand in hand. I like to make sure I’m keeping my home clean for my pets. After all they play, lounge, and sleep in our home. The least we can do is make sure the space is free of dangerous objects or potential choking hazards. We also use pet gates in our home to ensure pet safety when cooking/cleaning/moving furniture.
“Carina was very accommodating and caring when taking care of my dog Lexi. She communicates well throughout the day and sent pictures. I feel comfortable leaving Lexi alone with her.”

“Liz was everything we could ask for and more in the way she housesit and cared for our special needs beagle. She took him on great walks, had no trouble administering his meds (11 pills twice a day plus some additional in his food), and was constantly updating us with photos, videos, and texts. She put us totally at ease being away from our pet, and that is rare given the demands of a special needs dog. She is at the top of our list and is the first person we’ll call anytime we go away again.”

“John did an amazing job taking care of our two labs for eight days! He treated our girls like his own. He was excellent with her multiple medical issues, including, my girls, diabetes, which requires injectable insulin twice a day. He sent us constant updates multiple times a day, which included photos and video! He was so respectful of staying in our home and left it clean and tidy after his visit. I highly recommend him- he gave us the peace of mind to enjoy our family dream vacation!”

“Cassidy took great care of our dog Scooby, who is a 100 pound German shepherd. She spent the night in our house with him, took him out multiple times a day, fed and played with him, while sending us pictures and keeping us updated throughout our entire trip. Scooby never had a sitter before but Cassidy made him feel comfortable the entire time. We arrived home to a happy and healthy boy. We would absolutely recommend Cassidy and hope to use her again in the future!”

I’ve been helping take care of my sisters 10 dogs back home who range in age from puppy to senior senior. Dogs in my care includes: CHF, wheelchair bound, medication management, breathing treatments, expressing, bathing and walking. I recently moved from Cleveland to New York! I have reliable transportation and have a very flexible schedule. I’m not afraid to travel for the right pet and would love a buddy or two to run errands with. I have three dog friendly disabled cats at home. I have two tripods and a blind cat. I have extensive experience with disabled dogs as well, including dogs with cardiac issues, anxiety, wheelchair bound and pet medication management. My sister has 10 dogs of her own, two of which are wheelchair bound, incontinent, and another two with CHF that require daily medications. Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Glen Cove walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Glen Cove maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Glen Cove choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
