About: HIGHLY EXPERIENCED WITH DOGS THAT HAVE BEHAVIORAL ISSUES!! Eager to work! :) I have grown up with, and helped care for, dogs my whole life. For the past 3 years I have been training my dog, currently with assistance from a trainer. He was fearful-reactive and is now an amazing service dog in training. I have been a volunteer at the world’s largest no-kill shelter for 3 years now. I have handled dogs of all ages, sizes, breeds, and temperaments. I have worked with blind and senior dogs. I have run puppy play groups, as well as puppy mill, senior, and teen play groups. some behavioral challenges in dogs that I have worked with include: fearful; reactive; food and/or object possessive; stranger danger; separation anxiety; dog vs dog aggression; strong leadership; mouthy; and more i’m sure i’m forgetting. I have taken several extensive dog training classes to improve my skill and knowledge. I was the first 16 year old to reach one of the most advanced dog levels. I am very well-versed in understanding dog body language. I have dealt with sick dogs as well as dogs with skin conditions. I have helped get the neighbors dog to eat, as well as go potty and play, and dog walked for several clients. I also have experience with cats from the shelter as i have taken advanced feline behavior classes. I am able to understand cat body language fairly well. I have worked with cats as well as kittens, and cat sat several times. I can care for, and clean up after, dogs and/or cats. I will always respect your pets boundaries. I am currently an undergrad studying animal psychology and medicine! I will genuinely treat your fur babies as my own. My dedication and passion truly is to ALL animals. 🩷 I regularly update my calendar to show my availability, though i’m pretty flexible. Make sure to check there! Can’t wait to hear from you :) I will make sure your pet has fresh food and water, as well as making sure there is nothing clearly dangerous left out that the pet could hurt themselves with or eat. I will ensure everything is as it was when I came, as well as closing and locking any doors I used. I will dispose of animal waste as instructed. On walks I have a steady balance and strong leash hold to ensure the dog stays with me. I may carry treats with me for minor training/intervention (if allowed and if the dog pulls or something like that). If your dog is scared of certain things or creatures I will take precautions to avoid anything triggering to the dog. Lastly, I will certainly make sure the pet(s) feel loved, happy, and relaxed.

“Michelle was absolutely great taking care of our little one and our home while we were gone for 13 days. She is a rare find and a truly calm, gentle soul. She definitely earned all her great reviews. We did a meet and greet first where she came to our home and we knew after that meeting that she was the one! Finding a great pet/house sitter is harder than it seems. So many on Rover don't really seem to understand the meaning of house sitting. It means you actually live in the house with the fur babies not leave every 4 hours and be gone all day. Rest assured Michelle will live in your house so your anxious fur baby remains in their comfort zone and routine. I work from home so I wanted to mimic that level of human presence that out little guy has become accustomed to and she was able to provide that. Michelle took care of little chores like watering plants and feeding our fish, but most importantly she took care of our little baby with plenty of play time and constant companionship. She was very responsive over messenger even though we were in another country. And when we came home the house was perfectly clean and in order. We highly recommend Michelle for pet/house sitting and we will certainly be using her again!”

While I don’t currently have pets of my own, I’ve spent most of my life helping care for the pets of friends and neighbors. Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and I’m usually the person everyone asks to watch their pets when they’re away! What sets me apart is the amount of care and attention I give every animal. I take the time to learn each pet’s personality, routine, and comfort level so they feel safe and happy while you’re away. Whether your pet is energetic and playful or shy and cautious, I’m patient and let them adjust at their own pace. During teething, I noticed she had stopped eating her dry food, so after discussing it with her owner, I recommended switching to a softer option and monitored her closely afterward to make sure she adjusted well. I also have experience with senior cats, including caring for an 18 year old cat with vision and mobility changes. I understand that every stage of life comes with different needs, and I’m happy to adapt my care accordingly. When we’re out on walks, I always bring waste bags and water, and I make safety my top priority. At home, I enjoy keeping pets engaged with play, enrichment, cuddles (if they want them!), and plenty of attention. I’m also more than happy to send frequent photo and video updates, because I know how comforting it is to see your pet happy while you’re away. I’m a bit of a neat freak, so you’ll never have to worry about coming home to a mess. I’m happy to clean up after pets and even help with little household tasks like bringing in mail or watering plants if needed. My goal is simple: I want every pet to feel loved, safe, and cared for as if they were my own. As a college student taking one class each weekday morning during the summer, I have a very flexible schedule and plenty of time to dedicate to your pet. Outside of class, I’m available for walks, drop in visits, daycare, and house sitting. I believe every pet deserves individual attention, so I make sure they get plenty of exercise, playtime, affection, and mental enrichment while you’re away. Your pet’s safety and comfort will always be my top priority. I like to spend the first little while getting to know your pet’s personality and comfort level so I can adjust my care to their individual needs.
