“Aimee was really wonderful! My husband and I were on a trip to Napa and needed someone to pop in and check on our dogs while we were out! She was professional, communicative and punctual! She also sent some really wonderful photos! Highly recommend! Thank you!”

“Katie did a wonderful job taking care of our two kitties. She quickly earned their trust, played with them, sent the cutest pictures and successfully administered pills to one of the cats - which is no easy feat. We are so glad we found her and will hire Katie, without any hesitation whatsoever, for our future trips.”

“Gianna was an amazing sitter for our cat Eli while we took a short trip out of town. Always arrived promptly at the times to feed and take care of Eli and from the looks of the pictures, he got Cody with her very quickly!! We will definitely be using her services again.”

“Ciana was wonderful! For her first booking with us, she spent almost the entire weekend with our senior, anxious dog. He felt comfortable with Ciana immediately. I didn’t have to worry at all while I was away from him. She has a very calm and kind presence. Ciana is great with communication too. Highly recommend and will book her again.”

“Magali was great, took great care of Runner and communicated with us throughout the process. We were visiting from out of town and staying in an Airbnb. She made sure our pet felt at home during her visit and sent us lots of photos. ❤️”

About: I would always take care of my aunts dog as a child and later on in more recent years! I would always take him on walks and play with him! I currently work part-time! I have time on weekdays from 6-sunset (might change in future)! And on most weekends, I'm available at anytime as needed! I have a fenced yard big enough to play in! My neighborhood is very safe and fairly quiet, so no true taking on walks around! Also with a park within a 5 minute walking distance to play at!

“It was our first time having Haley watch our Gigi. She did a handful of drop in visits over 2 days. She was timely, patient, and kept us updated throughout. Gigi was very comfortable around her and warmed up to her. Haley was flexible and took really good care of our dog. We plan to have her babysit Gigi again in the future.”

“Margo was wonderful taking care of our cats over the holidays. She was reliable, communicative, and clearly attentive to their routines and comfort. We felt completely at ease knowing they were in such good hands while we were away. We would absolutely trust Margo again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for thoughtful, dependable pet care.”

“Channing is a wonderful communicator and took such great care of Max and Gloria! I felt very comfortable being away from home for such a long time knowing she was taking care of them. Highly recommend!”
“Cassie took very good care of my cat. She shared pictures while I was gone which assured me that my baby was well taken care of. I will definitely reach out to Cassie again if I need the service again.”

About: I am the go to pet sitter in my family and group of friends. My husband and I have been unable to get our own pet up to this point due to lease agreements. However, I am meant to have a pet and have lots of care to give! I love to go on long walks and it’s way more fun with a pet friend. I have experience with extremely reactive, large dogs, antisocial cats, and everything in between. I love going on walks and make sure to get out of the house every day! I don’t commute to work which frees up extra time in my day. I make sure to follow the pet parents’ lead and protocol. Our friends often have a well established routine, so I make sure to follow it to not disrupt the animal. However, when possible, I like to spoil a little! That includes longer walks, extra words of praise, and playing with their favorite toys (fetch, tug-o-war, etc).

I make sure their space stays clean and secure. My goal is always to ensure pets feel safe, loved, and comfortable while their owners are away.

About: What sets me apart is that I treat every dog like family. I’m patient, attentive, and take the time to understand each dog’s personality, routine, and individual needs. I’m comfortable caring for puppies, energetic dogs, nervous pups, and seniors who need extra patience and attention. I also enjoy reinforcing basic manners and leash training through positive, consistent guidance. My goal is for every pet to feel safe, loved, and happy while you’re away! Pet care fits naturally into my routine! I currently work at a doggy daycare, where I spend my workdays caring for and interacting with dogs. I work 4 days a week and have 3 days off, giving me plenty of flexibility to provide walks, drop-ins, daycare-style playtime, and overnight care on my days off. I love staying active and spending my free time with dogs, so pet care is something I genuinely enjoy! I care for every pet based on their individual routine, personality, and needs. In a client’s home, I make sure pets feel comfortable and safe by keeping their normal feeding, walking, playtime, and potty schedules. About: I’m new to Rover but I, like so many others on here love animals! I have 2 dogs, an 8 year old tiny yet mighty Chihuahua and a 3 year old energetic and loving Border Collie. These two crazy boys have helped me learn that no two dogs are the same but a few things that they do have in common is their need for patient, loving, and understanding care takers. Dogs are the main animals that I’ve had the opportunity to care for, from chihuahuas to German shepherds but I’ve also had some clients with fish and turtles that needed boarding as well. I currently work at my administrative job 3 times a week and I’m looking for a fun way to spend my off days! My schedule is very flexible and I’m open to working around your pets routine! Most of my pet-sitting services take place in your home, where your pets can stay comfortable in the environment they know and love. My goal is to keep their routine as consistent as possible while providing them with plenty of love, attention, and personalized care. I also provide regular walks and engaging outdoor activities to keep them physically active and mentally stimulated. Every pet is treated as if they were my own, ensuring they feel safe, happy, and well cared for while you're away.

About: 🐾Why I love pet sitting I love that pet sitting allows me to combine companionship, responsibility, and a slower, more present way of living. Every animal has their own routine and personality, and I enjoy learning what makes each one feel comfortable and happy. Whether that means going for a walk, spending quiet time together, playing, or simply keeping them company, I want the animals in my care to feel at home and well loved. I also understand how important it is to feel comfortable leaving your pets with someone else. My goal is to provide dependable care while respecting the routines and instructions that each pet parent has established. ✨About me I have worked for myself off and on since 2015, with a background in fashion design and printmaking. My creative work has always given me an appreciation for detail, patience, and working independently. In my 20s, I lived in a meditation community, where I practiced daily yoga and developed a deeper appreciation for mindfulness, simplicity, and being present. I eventually found my way into pet sitting in 2022 while living in Phoenix. Since then, caring for animals has become a very meaningful part of my life. I have since moved back to California and now dedicate most of my time to caring for animals. I genuinely enjoy getting to know each animal’s personality and making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while their people are away. My pet care & house-sitting routine When I house sit, I like to keep your pets’ normal routine as consistent as possible. My days typically include: * 🐾 Morning: Feedings, fresh water, potty break, and a morning walk or outdoor time. * 🐾 Throughout the day: Potty breaks, playtime, enrichment, cuddles, and plenty of companionship. * 🐾 Evening: Dinner, another walk or outdoor time, and settling into their usual nighttime routine. * 🐾 House care: Bring in the mail and packages, water plants as needed, take out trash, and keep the home clean and tidy. * 🐾 Updates: I’m happy to send photos and updates so you know how everyone is doing while you’re away. I’m flexible and always happy to follow your pets’ specific routines, needs, and preferences. When I stay in a client’s home, I treat it with the same care and respect I would my own. My priority is keeping your pets comfortable and maintaining their normal routine as closely as possible. I make sure they receive their meals on schedule, fresh water, regular potty breaks, walks, play and enrichment, and plenty of affection and companionship. I pay attention to their individual personalities and needs, whether they want lots of activity and attention or prefer a quieter, more relaxed day. I do leave the house periodically for my own errands, walks, or activities, but I make sure your pets receive dedicated one-on-one time throughout the day and aren’t simply left alone for long periods. While I’m there, I also keep the home tidy, bring in mail and packages, take out trash, and take care of any agreed-upon household tasks. I’m respectful of your space and routines, and I’ll keep you updated with photos and messages so you can feel confident that your pets—and your home—are being well cared for.
About: I have had dogs since I was born, so growing up pets have always been impotent to me. I have learned the best ways to take care of them, and I am experienced in exactly what your pet will need! I am currently working part time, so I will have plenty of time to take care of your pups! I get off work at 3:00, and usually don’t work weekends. I always have time to walk and take care of my little guy at home. I am 100% willing to come to your home! I will stick to the schedule and rules you have for your pet, and make sure they are as comfortable as they are when you’re home!

My family had to go away for the weekend needed a drop in person for our dog Sammy. Megali was able to help us out and did a great job. She provided great updates and daily pictures. Our dog looked happy and we would definitely recommend Megali to our friends. Thanks again for the great service.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
