“We have used other sitters but by far John is THE BEST! He came by our house 1st and spent time getting to meet our cat and dog. He made us feel so comfortable. Excellent communication and pictures. Our girl always looked like she was smiling in all the pics. The house was perfect. He is certainly a keeper! Highly recommend him.”

“Mikayla was amazing. She took care of our little guy for a couple days and he loved her!! She was responsive and sent us updates throughout the day. Our flight was delayed and she was available to stay with him an extra night which was lifesaving. We 100% would recommend her.”

“Sasha was amazing with our dog Bolt while we were away! She took great care of him in our home, kept us updated with thoughtful communication, and truly went above and beyond. She even swam with him, which he loved! We came home to a happy, well-cared-for pup. I would absolutely book with Sasha again. Highly recommend!”

“Abbie was amazing! So sweet & communicative the whole time I was away from KoKo. She gave me so much peace of mind and left everything tidy and clean at my home. I received photos and videos every day, letting me know my babies were happy. Each pet got love and attention, which means the world to me.I am so thankful to have found her.”

“Got it 😄 here’s a short, playful, 5-star version: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Claire was amazing with our Mylo! She followed all of his daddies’ very specific (ok… slightly neurotic 😅) instructions perfectly and kept us smiling with great photos and updates. Mylo was clearly happy, relaxed, and totally loved. We would book Claire again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend! 🐾💙”

“Amazing service, my little old chihuahua was taken care of during my trip as well as the house. I received updates from Melissa, house was left in ideal condition! Highly recommend!”

“Marjorie was great with Prince he warmed up to her after a while she kept him very relaxed while I was away he tends to get sad with separation anxiety. She sent me updates, pictures and kept him on his schedule during her visit which was great and very helpful. I definitely recommend her to any of my friends and family members with pets.”

About: I’ve been around dogs my whole life, starting with my Shih Tzu, Coco, when I was 10. I grew up taking care of her and even brought her with me to college! Taking care of her through all stages of life, especially as she got older, taught me how much patience, love, and attention dogs really need. Outside of my own dog, I’m always the go-to person for pet care in my life. I regularly take care of my family and friends’ dogs ranging from breeds like Australian Shepherds to Great Danes. During my 4 years of college I also fostered a total of 4 dogs, all different ages and breeds. Therefore, I’m used to all kinds of dogs, big, small, energetic, chill, and everything in between. I’m really good at reading their body language, respecting their space, and matching their energy so they feel comfortable with me. Since my Coco passed, I’ve honestly just poured that love into helping take care of other people’s dogs. My experience with dogs my whole life has made me comfortable and confident in handling different temperaments and routines. I will always treat every dog like they’re my own, and aim to create a safe loving environment for every pet in my care. I am flexible with my schedule and used to building my day around walks, feeding times, and check-ins. I’m available for morning, midday, and evening care depending on what the dog needs. I’m also consistent and organized, so I can commit to regular walks or sitting each week. When I’m caring for pets, I focus on making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and on their normal routine. I always follow the owner’s instructions as I know that every dog is different and consistency matters. I’m cautious with things like doors, leash safety, feeding, and making sure they’re never left alone for too long. I also pay attention to how the dog is acting so I can tell if they need space, comfort, or attention. In a client’s home, I’m respectful of the space and treat everything how I would want someone to treat mine. I will always keep things calm, clean, and give the dog lots of attention so they feel secure while their owner is away.
About: Hi! I’m Jayla, a recent University of South Florida graduate with a lifelong love for animals. I grew up around pets, including a Golden Retriever and my current Goldendoodle, and I also have experience caring for horses. I understand that pets are family, and I treat every animal with the same care, patience, and attention I would want for my own. Whether your pet needs a walk, playtime, feeding, check-ins, or extra companionship while you’re away, I’m committed to providing reliable and loving care. I pride myself on being dependable, communicative, and attentive to each pet’s unique needs. I look forward to meeting you and your furry family members! I maintain a flexible schedule that allows me to provide dependable pet care throughout the week. Whether your pet needs drop-in visits, walks, playtime, feeding, or extra attention while you’re away, I’m committed to making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and cared for. While I don’t provide pet care in my own home, I’m happy to care for your pet in the comfort of their familiar environment. I prioritize safety, consistency, and following your pet’s routine so they feel secure and well cared for while you’re away.
“Carolina was wonderful with my 14 year old Moi in every way. My vacation was stress free not having to worry about Moi. He was very well taken care of! I would not hesitate to use her again in the future.. So happy I found Carolina!”

About: Dogs are a big part of my life, and I treat each one like my own. I have experience caring for both puppies and seniors, making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and happy every day. I am currently playing college softball at FAU. I practice in the mornings and have availability in the afternoons, giving me plenty of time to care for, walk, and spend quality time with your dog. I focus on keeping pets comfortable and loved, making sure they get the attention and care they need every day. I follow their normal routine and I want to create a calm, safe environment while you’re gone.
“I am so grateful to have found such a wonderful dog sitter! My puppy is like my baby, so finding someone I could trust was very important to me. From the moment they met, my pup felt comfortable and even gives her kisses—which says a lot! I feel completely at ease knowing he’s in safe, loving hands. She provides the best quality of care, always sends me pictures, and responds quickly to any messages. I couldn’t ask for more!”

“Allison was amazing! She has a great personality and is extremely skilled in what she does. We were kept updated via videos & pictures and felt extremely happy and at ease knowing they were safe and having fun!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sunshine Acres walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sunshine Acres maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sunshine Acres choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sunshine Acres. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
