“Eric has been sitting my 3 y/o rescue Beagle, Walter, for a few months now, to help with his separation anxiety. Eric is great -- not only is he understanding and knowledgeable of Walter's special needs, such as his fear of men and new situations, among other things, he's made some very helpful suggestions that have helped with Walter's anxiety. He is trustworthy, kind and reliable, and I would highly recommend him to anyone; you can rest easy knowing your pets are under Eric's care.”

“Kerri is a straightforward communicator and very approachable, always willing to go the extra mile. Her professionalism inspired trust and peace of mind, so I asked Kerri if she would take care of Milo for almost another month, and she did. I was happy and relaxed because I knew Kerri was taking care of my house and Milo. Kerri is awesome!!!!”

“We're so glad we found Annie! She is caring, mature, and intelligent. I would use her again in a second. Our orange cat loves everyone but our senior dog is wary of new people. After two introductory appointments/interviews, it was clear to us that she was a good fit. We were gone for 7 nights and by the end of the week, our dog was sleeping in with her! Annie was responsive to any questions we asked during the week, and sent us updates with pictures. On top of all that, she watered our plants and left our home spotless. 5 STARS!!!!”

“Julie-Anne was an excellent dog sitter. She communicated very well. Sent photos & gave us up dates. She stayed at our house & gave our dogs love & snuggles. We will use Julie-Anne again.”

About: I grew up with three dogs, have dog-sat for neighbors, and lived with a cat that I helped care for. I am very energetic and I have cared for puppies and both large and small dogs. I have a full time job with some flexibility, so I am free most evenings/nights and all of Saturday. My Sunday availability is in the morning to mid-day. I am happy to play with and entertain pets, and follow your instructions on feeding, walks, and house rules. I have had an anxious dog, so I want to make sure your pet is comfortable.
“Rachel did an amazing job taking care of Summer while we were abroad for our wedding and honeymoon. We were so grateful that she stayed at our house, which allowed Summer to remain in a familiar and comfortable environment while we were away. Summer immediately liked Rachel and was snuggling with her on the couch right away, which gave us confidence from day one that she was in great hands. Rachel also sent us lots of pictures and updates every day, which gave us so much peace of mind and really allowed us to fully enjoy our wedding and honeymoon without worrying. We truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would definitely recommend Rachel to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and attentive pet sitter!”

“Traci did an AMAZING job with our elderly girl. She left the house neat and our girl was happy. My family feels much more comfortable going away knowing Traci will be there to watch our girl.”

About: I work as a part time veterinary technician, very confident in giving medications. Will stay at your home with your pets to help them be as comfortable as possible and stay on routine while their owners are away. Love taking them for walks and hikes and make sure we have plenty of play time together! I would love to meet your fur-babies and help you be able to relax and enjoy your time away. I send updates and pictures so owners know their babies are enjoying their time too! I currently work part time as a veterinary technician, my shifts are between 5-7 hours Monday through Friday. Can do potty breaks during the longer shifts if needed. I stay in your house with your pets so they are comfortable in their own environment and follow their regular routine as much as possible. Plenty of time for exercise and play!
“We couldn’t be more grateful for Rachel’s care and dedication while watching our senior dog, Kaia, during our weekend trip. What truly stood out was her flexibility and commitment to ensuring Kaia was well taken care of, no matter the circumstances. Originally, we planned to return Sunday night, but a strong winter storm changed our plans. When we reached out to Rachel last-minute to ask if she could stay an extra night, she didn’t hesitate to help. With road conditions still dangerous Monday morning, we ended up extending our stay another night, knowing Kaia was in great hands. Despite the storm hitting Acton hard and making walks difficult, Rachel made sure Kaia could get outside safely and kept our home well cared for. Her reliability and willingness to adapt to unexpected challenges gave us peace of mind throughout the trip. We highly recommend Rachel to anyone looking for a responsible, caring, and dependable dog sitter!”

“Hannah was available last minute for an overnight stay when our original plans changed. She was able to squeeze in a meet and greet beforehand and put a lot of effort into helping our anxious dog feel comfortable. She sent updates throughout the stay and left our home clean and just how we left it. We would definitely use Hannah’s walking and pet-sitting services again!”

“Jackie was absolutely amazing, I wish I could give her more than 5 stars. We have two Siberian Huskies that can be a handful, but she handled them with such ease. Jackie was communicative and sent enough pictures and updates where we felt comfortable and informed, but gave us enough space where we weren’t bombarded about the dogs the whole time we were away. I honestly didn’t worry about my dogs for even a minute from the moment we left, which is a first for me. We came home to two tired pups and a super clean house! I’d highly recommend Jackie to anyone I know.”

“Zannah did a great job house sitting for us. It was the worst icy weather of the year but she made the most of it and we came home to happy animals and were really grateful she was able to do it. She’s responsive and sent us daily updates.”

“Danyel made us feel so comfortable leaving our babies with her. We came back to happy and safe dogs which is more than we could ever ask for. She handled our home amazingly and even identified a plumbing problem we needed to have fixed!! We appreciate her so much and hope she has more time to take care of our babies in the future. Thank you Danyel!”

“Megan did an awesome job taking care of our cat and dog for the weekend. She was a great communicator with us and home and pets looked perfect when we came home! Will love to use her again in the future.”

“Amazing dog sitter. She communicated well, took great care of our puppies and shared lots of nice photos. Daisy has been looking around for her all day. I would highly recommend her.”

“This was our first time leaving Ellie, our family dog, overnight since we adopted her about 10 months ago. Tristan was truly incredible with her--totally understood her from the start, adored her, and gave her all the love and walks she could want (and more). Ellie can be reactive towards other dogs while on leash but it truly is all bark. Tristan had no trouble navigating neighborhood walks, rewarding her good behavior, and gently refocusing her to him when needed. She zoomed so hard with him in the backyard it was like our 8 year old coonhound became a puppy again! Could not recommend a dog sitter more.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Stow
Although Alexandra did not have a track record with Rover, after meeting her, we felt comfortable leaving her responsible for our house and pets while we were out of the country for a week. She kept regular contact with us while we were away. When we returned our house was in order and our animals cared for. Our dog Margo had clearly connected with Alexandra. We recommend her, and have asked her to take care of our home and animals next month when we are away again.

Ashley did an exceptionally good job house sitting for our Aussie, Nova during our recent trip. This was Nova’s first time with a sitter and judging from the photos that Ashley sent us every day, Nova had a ball. We had asked Ashley to water quite a few plants, fill the bird feeders and birdbath, take in the mail, etc., and she followed our instructions to a tee. She contacted us with a few questions which were glad to see. Ashley was diligent about removing ticks from Nova and Nova’s coat looked silky and well-brushed when we returned. She left the house spotless and even washed her sheets and towels and made the bed without being asked to do so. Ashley is intelligent, personable, mature and responsible. We will definitely invite her to care for Nova again.

Austin is a true animal lover. He genuinely likes to spend time with them. He was very attentive to our elderly cat and dog, and extremely conscientious about following the specific instructions I left for him. He sent updates and communicated as needed during his stay. I have finally found someone with whom I feel at ease leaving them. We are booking Austin to watch our pets again in a couple of months.

Hannah is great with my dog, always making sure she’s exercised and comfortable! Even though my dog is reactive on walks and takes some time to warm up to people, Hannah has done a great job making sure she’s comfortable and able to thrive while I’m away. She went above and beyond before her first stay to make sure everyone was comfortable!

Sydney was fabulous. She was attentive when we met, and enthusiastic about treating our dog like a family member. She was wonderful keeping us in touch with how things were going back home, sending photos and short messages. She was very tuned in to the whole emotional aspect of what it's like to leave your beloved pet behind when you travel. We can not recommend her highly enough.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Zannah. It was obvious from our first meeting how caring and kind she would be with Rosie. Zannah sent frequent updates, took Rosie on walks and true adventures, and is so easy to talk to! Rosie can get a little anxious when she senses we are leaving but she was so calm around Zannah - we are so grateful to have found her!!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Stow walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Stow maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Stow choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Stow. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
