About: I’ve been dog and cat sitting for friends, neighbors, and strangers for years now and have many recommendations from playing fetch, going on runs/walks, TLC, giving medicine to animals, multiple drop ins a day. I am allergic to cats but as long as I know in advance to prep with some allergy relief, I will be okay! Can’t wait to meet your fur babies! I’m currently working part time. I have a very flexible schedule to stay and play or a quick drop in to feed and let your pet out. I’m very respectful and will treat your fur baby like my own. If they need a play partner, my dog loves to play fetch and chase in circles-she can run sprints for an hour straight if we need any energy to get out!

“Amanda was very communicative and willing to work with us and our dog. She went above and beyond trying to make sure our dog was able to go to the bathroom, which even cost her an extra trip. I would definitely recommend her!”

About: I raised my first dog to a healthy, ripe 17 years of age. My new pup is a rescue and I have helped her become an obedient (mostly), well-mannered good girl. We take walks everyday, even when it’s cold. I have patient and a calm demeanor which I believe most dogs need when interacting with a new person. I work during the day M-F most of the time. I am free in the evenings and on weekends. Currently working part time so my schedule is a bit more open. I have an energetic puppy that loves to run around at the dog park at my apartment complex. I typically crate my dog when I’m not home. Okay with having dogs free at client’s house if that what the pup is most comfortable with.
About: I have loved animals for as long as I can remember, and caring for them is a true passion of mine. I live with my dog and two cats, so my home is already filled with plenty of love, pet-friendly energy, and experience across both canine and feline personalities. Whether your pet loves going on long outdoor walks, playing games in the yard, or just chilling out on the couch for some belly rubs, I treat every animal in my care as if they were my own. I live in a nice, quiet, pet-friendly area with easy access to neighborhood walking routes and dog parks for playtime. When you leave your pet with me, you can have complete peace of mind knowing they are in a safe, stable, warm, and loving environment with someone who is truly dedicated to their comfort and happiness. As a teacher, my schedule is predictable and routine, which means my evenings and weekends are wide open and completely dedicated to spending quality time with the pets in my care. Since I am home during those times, your pet will have constant companionship, structured routine, and plenty of attention when they need it most. Whether it's an evening stroll, a weekend trip to the dog park, or just relaxing on the couch together, my routine gives me plenty of dedicated focus for your furry family member. Safety, comfort, and keeping your home environment stable are my top priorities. Because I already have a dog and two cats, my preference is to care for your pets directly in their own home. Overnight in-home sitting or drop-in visits allow your furry family members to stay in their familiar, comfortable surroundings with their normal routines completely uninterrupted. I know how important a calm, safe environment is for pets, and staying in their own space eliminates the stress of introducing them to a new territory or other animals. Whenever I am on walks or taking your dog out to local trails or parks, safety remains paramount. I always keep pets securely leashed during outdoor transitions and supervise every outdoor interaction closely to ensure a safe, fun, and reliable experience.
“Rachael is always fabulous! Very communicative and great with my older dogs that have special needs. I greatly appreciate her and would recommend her to anyone looking for pet sitting.”

About: I have years of experience caring for both dogs and cats, including feeding, walking, playtime, basic cleaning, and making sure pets feel safe and comfortable. I have grown up around animals and understand how important it is to be patient, gentle, and reliable. I enjoy getting to know each pet’s personality and following the owner’s instructions closely so their routine stays consistent. Pet care fits well into my weekly routine, and I’m looking to help with walks, drop-ins, and pet care when I’m available. I’m dependable, communicate clearly, and will always do my best to keep pet parents updated. My availability may vary by day, but I will only accept bookings that I know I can fully commit to. I always put safety first by following the pet parent’s instructions, keeping dogs secure on walks, watching doors and gates carefully, and paying attention to each pet’s behavior. I will make sure pets have fresh water, food if needed, and a clean, comfortable space. I understand that every pet is different, so I will be patient and respectful of their routine, comfort level, and needs.

“Susan did an amazing job with our animals!!! She provided us with lots of pics and kept us informed of all the fun they were having while we were gone. We loved that they were able to stay in their own environment and had someone to cuddle with at night. 😊”

“We found out at the last minute that our spring break accommodation did not allow cats, and Susan saved the day! We always prefer someone who has experience with cats, and Susan’s experience and love for all animals shone through from even the first meeting. When we had questions after coming home, Susan was responsive and helpful.”

“HUGE thanks to Michele for being able to come over on such short notice to let my pup out during the day!! I have used Michele a handful of times, and I can't say enough wonderful things about her and her family. Thanks again, Michele! :)”

“Ashlyn was fantastic!! I was so nervous about leaving my cats with a stranger. I have only ever let family watch and take care of them. It can also be a little nerve wracking to let a stranger into the house. But Ashlyn made me feel so at ease knowing she was coming to see my cats. She arrived on time every single day. Never left a second early. She made sure to send me pictures, which I loved and made me feel confident that my cats were being cared for. I was able to enjoy my vacation and not have to check in with her everyday to ensure she was doing what needed to be done. When I got home, the house was just as we’d left it. Ashlyn even brought in a package from outside when we didn’t ask her to!! I will absolutely use Ashlyn again (if she takes me)”

About: Hello Community, my name is Bridget I'm a Kansas State Alum with a degree in Animal Science. I'm a full time Veterinary Assistant and a big-time animal lover. I love caring for pets and meeting the variety of personalities they have to offer. I enjoy strolling in the park and taking fur babies on car rides. I love finding ways to help my community and caring for your fur babies like my own. Pet care is my current side job alongside my full-time job as a veterinary assistant. I am finding new ways to help my community while saving up for my veterinary school journey. I can care for your pets in your home by helping with everyday tasks such as feeding, walking 15-30 mins, and grooming if necessary. Trimming nails or cleaning ears if deemed necessary.
“Marianne was absolutely delightful at our meet and greet, and the gang 🐾 loved her from the start! The pics each visit felt very personal, and I knew my babies were in good hands!”

“Grace was amazing with our dogs, so caring and knowledgeable with dogs. Her updates made us feel so much better about leaving the dogs at home. Highly recommend and we will definitely use her again!”

“Briley was very good with our dog. Our dog gets very nervous with new people and Briley was able to get her outside to play. Briley came at the times we discussed, sent pics and gave good follow-up after her visits!!!”

About: I love dogs and cats like they are my best friends because they are the most loving, loyal creatures I’ve ever met on this planet! They make me so happy always! I have an hour lunch during the week and weekends are usually free! If I commit to watching a dog/cat for several days in a row whether checking in or staying at their home, I make sure they are well taken care of cuz that’s really all that matters. They get all my love and attention! I have a pet friendly house but much rather take care of them at their own home as it’s likely more familiar/comfortable for them and convenient for the pet’s owner.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Stone
Nicole has done a wonderful job checking in our cat Randy. Randy doesn’t warm up quickly to others, but he has slowly trusted and warmed up to Nicole. She lets us know of any concerns we have, and has been quick to respond to any requests we may need. Highly recommend.

We are so grateful to have found such a wonderful sitter like Jessica. She stops by to let our fur babies out, and they absolutely adore her. She doesn’t just give them a quick bathroom break- she plays with them, gives them loving attention, and makes sure they enjoy their favorite treat before she leaves. What really sets her apart is the care she takes without ever being asked. If an accident happens while we are gone she takes the initiative to clean it up, which means the world to us. It’s clear that she genuinely cares about our pups and treats them like her own. If you’re looking for someone who is loyal, caring, and truly dependable, we can’t recommend her enough. Our boys light up when they see her, and we feel completely at ease knowing they’re in such good hands.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
