About: I've lived with and cared for dogs my entire life. As an adult, I fell in love with cats as well (just never got the exposure when I was younger). At present, I currently live with with four cats and one dog. For work, I have retired from finance to now work for my family business doing handyman and maid work around multiple Airbnb locations in town. In my spare time, I visit my brother with his three cats and two dogs. I have also started volunteering at the local humane society to give needy animals some additional love, support, and attention. With my extra time, I'm making myself available to help take care of even more cats, dogs, and homes than I already have been! I am self employed with the flexibility to start helping other people out. Some days I need to turn over a house cleaning mid-day as my family manages several houses for rentals - otherwise I am generally available! I have a large fenced in yard (4' chain link fence in some areas). I have four cats that are indoor/outdoor that keep to themselves and one very friendly, social dog. There is also a large, mostly unfinished basement with multiple rooms/areas with gates available throughout the house. The yard also has a smaller dog run if there ever needs to be two outside play areas.

About: I’ve been dog and cat sitting for friends, neighbors, and strangers for years now and have many recommendations from playing fetch, going on runs/walks, TLC, giving medicine to animals, multiple drop ins a day. I am allergic to cats but as long as I know in advance to prep with some allergy relief, I will be okay! Can’t wait to meet your fur babies! I’m currently working part time. I have a very flexible schedule to stay and play or a quick drop in to feed and let your pet out. I’m very respectful and will treat your fur baby like my own. If they need a play partner, my dog loves to play fetch and chase in circles-she can run sprints for an hour straight if we need any energy to get out!

About: I used to be a military police dog handler for a long time so I have great experience with dogs. I am a person who genuinely cares about animals. Ever since I was little I’ve had a dog there for me in my life. I treat every animal with care and respect! Your dog will be in great hands when booked with me! Right now I am on leave for quite a while so everyday any day will work for me. I will be around the dog 24/7 and make sure they are happy and taken great care of. About: I have loved animals for as long as I can remember, and caring for them is a true passion of mine. I live with my dog and two cats, so my home is already filled with plenty of love, pet-friendly energy, and experience across both canine and feline personalities. Whether your pet loves going on long outdoor walks, playing games in the yard, or just chilling out on the couch for some belly rubs, I treat every animal in my care as if they were my own. I live in a nice, quiet, pet-friendly area with easy access to neighborhood walking routes and dog parks for playtime. When you leave your pet with me, you can have complete peace of mind knowing they are in a safe, stable, warm, and loving environment with someone who is truly dedicated to their comfort and happiness. As a teacher, my schedule is predictable and routine, which means my evenings and weekends are wide open and completely dedicated to spending quality time with the pets in my care. Since I am home during those times, your pet will have constant companionship, structured routine, and plenty of attention when they need it most. Whether it's an evening stroll, a weekend trip to the dog park, or just relaxing on the couch together, my routine gives me plenty of dedicated focus for your furry family member. Safety, comfort, and keeping your home environment stable are my top priorities. Because I already have a dog and two cats, my preference is to care for your pets directly in their own home. Overnight in-home sitting or drop-in visits allow your furry family members to stay in their familiar, comfortable surroundings with their normal routines completely uninterrupted. I know how important a calm, safe environment is for pets, and staying in their own space eliminates the stress of introducing them to a new territory or other animals. Whenever I am on walks or taking your dog out to local trails or parks, safety remains paramount. I always keep pets securely leashed during outdoor transitions and supervise every outdoor interaction closely to ensure a safe, fun, and reliable experience.

About: I raised my first dog to a healthy, ripe 17 years of age. My new pup is a rescue and I have helped her become an obedient (mostly), well-mannered good girl. We take walks everyday, even when it’s cold. I have patient and a calm demeanor which I believe most dogs need when interacting with a new person. I work during the day M-F most of the time. I am free in the evenings and on weekends. Currently working part time so my schedule is a bit more open. I have an energetic puppy that loves to run around at the dog park at my apartment complex. I typically crate my dog when I’m not home. Okay with having dogs free at client’s house if that what the pup is most comfortable with.

About: Nice to meet you, I'm Kat! I have been working in the pet industry since early 2019 - beginning as a kennel attendant, evolving into a professional dog trainer in two prominent KC training facilities, and now running my own small business. I am thoroughly versed in canine care and communication, and use my expertise to help every dog I care for have a comfortable and positive experience. Not only that, but I am also very knowledgeable in canine enrichment and stimulation. Have a high-energy, high-needs breed? They'll end their days with me happy and tired. A senior dog that has special needs and benefits from therapeutic stretches? Say no more. Puppies are absolutely welcome as well, and I would love to provide them with opportunities to practice socialization, confidence building, and manners. My experience also means that I am able to care for dogs with behavioural issues and special health needs. I know it can be difficult to find care for dogs with "quirks," and I hope to make that search a little easier. Send me a message and we can chat about your dog and if I would be a good fit. I'm looking forward to meeting your pup! ** I do have a part-time job that takes up much of my time on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. This doesn't mean that I'm totally unavailable those days, but we'll need to chat to make sure that my schedule works for your pet. 🙂 The pets I work with are my priority! I want to make sure that my schedule allows me to look after your furry family members' needs. I do work long hours on weekends - but sometimes this can be flexible. We'll have a thorough chat before you book to make sure that your pets will get all of the attention they need and the love they deserve. Dogs, cats, and exotic pets are all welcome 🐶🐱🐍🐹🦜🐠 Your house, your rules! Before the booking, you & I will have a detailed conversation about your pets' schedule, rules, needs, and preferences. I am happy to follow all of that to a T! My job is to keep your pets happy and safe while you are away. With 7 years of pet care experience, I am confident in caring for all of their needs. This includes pets with behavioral concerns and special needs! For walks and other adventures, I will always keep your dog leashed and close to me. I love to take dogs out on excursions to parks, trails, and other such places, but I will always check with you first to make sure that we don't go somewhere your dog doesn't enjoy. Updates will be sent daily, as well as pictures and videos. I look forward to meeting your furry friends. (Scaled or feathered friends welcome, too!)

About: I have had dogs since I was young and I learned how to train puppies/dogs from my father. I am very friendly and loving with dogs, but authoritative as well when needed. I can trim your dogs nails as well as bathe/groom them. I communicate well about concerns and updates regarding an owners pet. Daily activities with your animal is what I love; whether that’s walking, going to the park, or playing in the yard. I have had to take out puppies throughout the night to potty train as well. I am able to take care of your animals anytime for general activities or pet care. I am available to house sit your dog while you are away. It’s possible to board a dog at my house during the day or even overnight, but only small/medium dogs because I own so many animals already and there’s not a lot of space for large dogs. I can come to your home and do anything you would like for your doggo; whether that’s playing in the yard, going for a walk, feeding, going out to go potty, or even light grooming. I can clean after your animal to ensure there’s no messes in your home. At my house I have a fenced in yard in a safe neighborhood with two friendly dogs of my own to play and keep each other occupied. There is a sidewalk all throughout my neighborhood perfect for daily walks.

I treat every animals as if it’s my own and give them all the love and respect that you would want when someone is in the care of your animals Working part-time gives me a flexible schedule, which makes pet care a great fit for my daily and weekly routine. I’m able to plan walks, drop-ins, and playtime around my work schedule while still having plenty of availability during the day. I love having the opportunity to stay active, spend time with animals, and give pet parents peace of mind knowing their pets are getting the attention and care they deserve. I’m also happy to follow each pet’s individual routine, including feeding schedules, walks, playtime, medications if needed, and any special instructions. My goal is to give both pets and their owners peace of mind while they’re apart.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.

Before booking, confirm:

  • the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
  • the care instructions the sitter should follow;
  • which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
  • how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.

Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .

sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
