“Briley was amazing. She was conscientious with our senior dog and coaxed him into taking his many pills. Our little rescue who doesn’t like most people let her guard down with Briley and made a new friend! She followed all our instructions to a T and we will hopefully be having her back soon!”

“Shantanice was amazing! She took excellent care of our home and kept us updated with plenty of photos and videos, which gave us great peace of mind. Our dogs clearly loved her and were so happy and well cared for when we returned. We would absolutely hire her again without hesitation!”

“Erin was so excellent with our two doodles! She sent us plenty of updates to give us peace of mind, and although we did not ask her to clean, I’m pretty sure she did. Our home did not look like somebody had been here dog sitting/house sitting while we were gone. We will definitely check to see if Erin is available again if we need future dog care. 10/10 highly recommend!”

“Brandi was AMAZING!! I have 2 dogs, once who is very social and the other who is VERY shy. My shy girl bonded with Brandi after only 1 day! Brandi was extremely kind and patient with her! She comes over when needed and stays for a good amount of time to hangout with them. She was very informative and sent lots of photos! She was a perfect sitter and I would 100% rebook!”

“Alicia was SO sweet to both us and our animals! She administered insulin to our cat, ran with our dog to get his energy out, and kept our house in pristine condition. We were anxious to leave our fur babies and Alicia was communicative our entire time away. We can’t wait to use her again!”

“I have a dog that had an awful case of anxiety when she was a kenneled at the shelter. I can't board this dog; I think it would only set her back. I sometimes have to travel for work, often to cool places where I like to stay and sightsee, and I just couldn't do it without Alex! She is remarkable in so many ways. She's thoughtful about my home, pays attention to things like wind and weather, she understands and implements sound behavioral principles (reinforcing only the behaviors you want) and best of all, my dog and cats love her. Alex has completely won over my very skittish dog, and she even lets my crazy cats sleep with her. I cannot praise her enough!”

“Amanda was AMAZING! I trusted her as soon as I met her, and my animals immediately adored her. She sent me photos every day, kept me up to date on their quirks, and left my home in immaculate condition. I was so thrilled to have her, and I know my pets were happy, too! I think one of my cats still misses her!”

About: Since I was a kid, I've been surrounded by pets. My dogs have been my buddies, showing me the ropes of training and taking care of furry pals. And you bet, I've also chilled with plenty of cool cats along the way. Whether it's dogs or cats, I've got the experience and love to keep them happy and well-cared for. Pet care fits seamlessly into my schedule and routine. I've tailored my commitments to ensure that I'm never away from home for more than three hours at a stretch, giving your furry friend the attention and care they deserve. With my wife working from home three days a week, there's always someone around to keep our pup company. And on weekends, we make it a priority to spend quality time together, cuddling with our pup and exploring the great outdoors with walks in the park. At home or at clients' places, pets get personalized care. We're lucky to have a private dog park nearby for playtime. Also, safe trails offer scenic walks. Plus, our pet spa ensures comfortable baths for a relaxing experience.
“Jennifer did a great job taking care of my dog for a last minute work trip. I loved the photos she sent each day! Blaze was instantly relaxed around Jennifer at the meet and greet (she can be a bit nervous around new people at first), so I knew it would go well while she was house sitting.”

“So thankful they were able to take care of our dog, who was on medication, while we were out of town for over a week. It was a last minute need as our boarding facility was not able to take our pup. They made the transition as smooth as possible and everything worked out great!”

“Susan always goes above and beyond! She takes such good care of our dog and the house. She helped with my plants and even circled back to check on our dog when our flights were delayed. Thank you!”

“Karrie was fantastic! She stayed in our home, which helped our dogs feel comfortable and relaxed right away. She kept them on their usual routine, so we never had to worry while we were away. She was also a wonderful house guest and even washed dishes and bedding before she left. We couldn't have asked for better care and will definitely be booking with her again!”

“Reece watched Finn while we were on our honeymoon and was amazing with him! She sent updates with photos twice a day like we had asked and he always looked so happy! He is on crate rest for a leg injury and she took extra care of him!”

About: We love animals! We are a mother/adult son team who will be working together to make your pets feel loved and happy. We recently lost our dog of 16 years and miss having pets around. We have had several dogs and cats of our own over the years and have fostered and placed many more for adoption. We have experience with dogs as small as 4lbs, up to 80lbs, from puppies/kittens to seniors. You will receive frequent updates and pictures throughout the booking, and we are very responsive to texts and calls. My teammate Alex and I are currently working part-time, with alternating schedules, so there is always someone available to care for your pet. We provide frequent updates and pictures, so you never have to wonder what your pet is up to. DROP-IN VISITS: We will listen to and follow your instructions and preferences to make your pet feel as comfortable as possible. HOUSE SITTING in your home: We know pets are most comfortable in their own home, so we will listen to and follow your instructions and preferences to make your pet feel as comfortable as possible. We are healthy and active and try our best to meet the activity level of your pet. If you would like, we can visit a few times before the booking to ensure your pet is comfortable with us beforehand. With two of us working together, we can provide more frequent check-ins, meaning we can accommodate animals who do not like to be kenneled or left alone. We are able to administer medications. BOARDING in our home: Since we have no pets our own, yours will get all the attention, and no children to bother the senior dogs who just want to relax. We also do not accept more than one family's pets at a time, so no need to worry if your pet will get along with others. We have experience with anxious and reactive dogs as well. We encourage you to visit our home beforehand a few times so your pet is not confused and scared when you leave them for a few days. We have a completely fenced in yard, but dogs are never left out by themselves. With two of us working together, there is hardly a time when your pet will be left alone in the home, meaning we can accommodate animals who do not like to be kenneled. We will listen to and follow your instructions and preferences to make your pet feel as comfortable as possible. Cats will have their own room to chill in or can roam the house freely. We are able to administer medications. DOG WALKING: We can discuss your preferences for walking locations and times. Looking forward to hearing from you and providing top quality care for your precious fur children!
About: I raised my first dog to a healthy, ripe 17 years of age. My new pup is a rescue and I have helped her become an obedient (mostly), well-mannered good girl. We take walks everyday, even when it’s cold. I have patient and a calm demeanor which I believe most dogs need when interacting with a new person. I work during the day M-F most of the time. I am free in the evenings and on weekends. Currently working part time so my schedule is a bit more open. I have an energetic puppy that loves to run around at the dog park at my apartment complex. I typically crate my dog when I’m not home. Okay with having dogs free at client’s house if that what the pup is most comfortable with.

About: I grew up on a farm with many dogs, cats, and other animals. In my adult life I have owned a cat, many dogs and a beta fish. I have worked and cared seniors, along with their animals, the last 6 years. I'm currently looking for a job so I have plenty of time to care for your animals. I am single with no children or animals at home so I have a lot of flexibility to come to you. I will follow whatever instructions you give to me to take care of your animals. Also if I am staying in your home, I will respect all of your rules.
“Sarah was professional and compassionate with Piva sharing hugs and walks. This was extra-extended stay and Sarah was extremely responsible and responsive during stay. Sarah stayed in our house and left the house immaculate. The communication was clear and consistent and I always felt in the loop. I highly recommend Sarah as a dog/house sitter.”

“We were so happy to have Erika come stay with our dog! She was professional, easy to work with, and clearly loves taking care of dogs. She sent frequent photos and updates, and was quick to respond to our texts. And her flexible schedule meant our dog didn’t need to be left for any long stretches. We look forward to having Erika come back again!”

About: I always insure that pets are comfortable! I’ve taken care of old cats and dogs, and I when they are old like that it’s important to meet their needs first, as most of the time they need a lot of guidance and help. I am currently going into online college, so most of my day is free! I often sit down and watch TV or play video games, but I mostly enjoy writing and drawing in my free time I personally like to ask owners how there pets are in the company of others, as well as if any weather bugs them! The comfort of my pets, and owners is always my number 1 priority! I want to make sure that they are comfortable around me, and I never approach any animal until I’ve let them sniff me, it’s important that they trust me to be around them.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 1,482 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Fairmount. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fairmount walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fairmount maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fairmount choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Fairmount. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
