“Grace was wonderful with my cat, Misha. She gave me regular updates and followed my cat’s super particular schedule. My cat was acting well loved when I got home. Everything went great; and I would not hesitate to have Grace housesit my cat again.”

“We cannot express enough how grateful we are for Shannon! My husband and I have 4 dogs and were fearful this would deter someone from wanting to take on that number. Shannon did not hestitate to answer the call and put us immediately at ease. Shannon came over on her own time to do a meet and greet and she was / is wonderful! She welcomed each dog with open arms and the dogs were overcome with joy that someone new loved them as much as they loved her. I highly recommend Shannon with no reservations. She is kind, inquisitive, patient and communicative. She sent frequent photos and updates which we were most thankful for. We would ask her to watch our dogs again, no questions asked. Thank you Shannon!!”

About: Hi I am Nora- I love spending time with animals of all sizes and personalities! I grew up in town with a Golden Retriever and a Bengal cat, but since their passings I have been occasionally watching other’s dogs! I am young, ambitious and thoughtful! I am currently working part time as a cashier. My flexible summer schedule M-F can accommodate your needs, while also making time for myself. I am available for drop ins, walks, or house sitting and can accept last minute bookings if convenient. Only available until September! I know how important it is to trust someone with your pet, so I always prioritize safety and communication with each client and I expect the same from you. I will be sure to keep you updated and send pics to let you know your pet is being taken care of! Looking forward to establishing a connection with you and your pet, while also making them feel comfortable. Open to short or weekly commitments during the summer based off your needs.
“Eleni was great and super responsive. She was able to accommodate a last-minute request, and was great with our two large pups and their differing needs. She was communicative throughout and they were in high spirits when we returned!”

About: I have taken care of my two cats on a daily basis that includes feeding them, cleaning the litter box, playing, and quality time. I’ve also taken care of anxious pets who need a little more attention and care. I can tailor my sitting experience to each pets specific needs! I am free during the summer and winter while on break from college. I can schedule my day around visits and can come as early as 7:30 am and as late as 9:30 pm I am very respectful when I come over to your house. If there are clear instructions where the leash and food are then I will do as instructed. I also will send pics of your pet(s) during my visits and leave everything the way it is. I do not offer pets to stay at my home.
“Renee was great with our dogs. She came and visited before her first house sitting for us and the dogs acclimated to her quickly. When we got home we could tell our dogs were well taken care of. We will have her house sit again for us.”

“Jen provided excellent care to my 6 month old puppy and two adult cats. She took care of them like her own and even brought our puppy out for a puppy playdate! We definitely will be using her again in the future.”

“Ella took excellent care of my 3 dogs and home while I was away. I will definitely book with her again! She sent me pictures and updates which I really appreciated 💖 My dogs are not easy and she handled everything extremely well!!”

“Kathryn is awesome!!!! My husband and I had a bad experience with Rover last June with another sitter and haven’t traveled since. After moving to Connecticut, we decided to give it a shot and test it out again for one night. Kathryn was so kind, polite and reassuring that all will be well after listening to our horrid experience last year. She offered two visits before the actual sitting just to get to know our Pep and us. She always showed up the time she said she would. Pep warmed up to her quickly. Dogs know :) During the sitting, she sent multiple updates and went above and beyond. She did everything she could to make sure pep was accommodated and comfortable! She also respected our home and left it as she found it. Will definitely be booking Kathryn again. We can’t thank you enough”

“We’ve used Annie before and I’m so happy to know that my dogs have someone loving to care for them when we’re gone! You can tell she really loves dogs and gives each of my boys the attention and love they need. Will continue to use her for all family travel!!”

“It felt so good going away and leaving our dog and cat and house in janette’s care. We booked her super last minute for Thanksgiving week and she came and did a meet and greet next day and was very sweet with our pets and sent pictures and updates. Highly recommend and will definitely connect with her again for care.”

“Emily and Sarah were amazing with our dogs while we were away for the week. They not only cared for our pups with love and attention, but also kept the house spotless and treated our home with respect. We especially appreciated the daily photo updates—they gave us such peace of mind. Highly recommend!”

“This was the 2nd time we had Rebecca house sit our dog. She sent us cute pictures and videos, and from them it was obvious that our dog was very happy and relaxed. She is also very clean and respectful. We are so happy that we found her and our dog bonded with her so well.”

“First time Audrey watched our dogs Bailey and Bella, but it won't be the last. She is a lovely young lady, smart, articulate, and fantastic with our dogs who loved her. Communication was excellent and we loved the daily pics!”

“Ariana and her daughter were amazing house/dog sitters for our 12 year old Puggle, Finn. Finn took to them immediately which instantly eased my mind. It was obvious that they were true animal people. Ariana provided excellent communication/updates throughout our weekend away, and the house was left immaculate upon our return. If you want stress-free, trustworthy care for your pets, I would highly recommend Ariana.”

“Taylor is everything you could hope for in a sitter - she's communicative, conscientious, responsible and respectful. She took great care of my two cats while I was away, even bringing around my timid kitty in the course of a day. She diligently followed all my instructions and stayed in close contact to quell my nervousness. I have already rebooked with her. Highly recommend.”

“Amy is great! Jasper had a lovely time with her and we got a good update in the morning before she left. I would book with her again and recommend her to anyone, not just those with a senior dog :)”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - South Glastonbury
We had to go out of town - leaving our 5 pets one of whom was a new adoptee with some trust issues and one of whom needed some medication and tlc. Sherri came over to meet us all and I was quickly assured that the pets would all be in great hands with her. I was able to enjoy my trip without worrying about our cats and dogs. The animals all warmed up to her quickly and she sent me lots of photos and reached out with any questions. We came home to happy pets and a well cared for house. I highly recommend her!
It was our first time having an inhouse pet sitter and Brien was wonderful. He was willing to meet with us a couple of weeks before hand which reassured us about having a stranger in our house. When a last minute health issue threw our plans up in the air, he was very empathetic and willing to work with us. We did get away as planned and Brien sent us a daily update and photos. Our dog is 15 years old, so a health issue can always develop unexpectedly, but Brien was confident he could hand anything that comes along. Highly recommend.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred South Glastonbury walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in South Glastonbury maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in South Glastonbury choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
