“Lourdes was amazing. She watched both of my dogs for four days and my girl is very shy so she took a while to transition but Lourdes was so patient with her and sent me constant updates about both dogs so I always knew how they were doing. She and Yoko (her pup) are wonderful and generous hosts.”

“Marie was able to help me in more ways then one. She was an excellent boarding choice, but also she was able to help me understand my dog when it came to understanding her behavior/needs and training her. I left her home with more tools in my toolbox for my dog.”

“Our puppy loves Kasia! When we had to go out of town we knew just who to contact for his first weekend sleepover! Kasia gives lots of pictures and updates to make you feel at ease! Bronco made himself right at home at her house which was awesome to see while we were away! 🥰 thanks again Kasia!”

“Kim watched Sir Sparklepuff for 17 days, following our relocation. We had been worried about leaving him at such a transitional time, but she made the extra effort of meeting him prior to his stay with her, first in our home, then in her own. His stay seems to have gone quite well -- he was returned to us happy and well-cared for. Kim also sent us daily photos which were absolutely remarkable -- professional quality! She clearly spent time connecting with him, and playing with him. We are sure to use her services again, and cannot recommend her highly enough!”

“Anthony and Jayson clearly took great care of my dog. He actually played with a ball, which he never does! They also sent lots of pictures and activity updates. Highly recommend!”

“Cara and Dan are wonderful people! They took wonderful care of our dog while we were out at a wedding. If we lived in the area we’d ask them to care for our dog all the time! Thank you Cara and Dan!”

“Our first time taking a trip without our beloved Rocky. We could not have left him in better hands. The daily updates were great, and he seemed to have a great time. I highly recommend Xiting and would use her services again if she is available.”

“Amy is easy to work with and reliable. Whenever I need to go out of town and need someone to watch my dog, even with a couple short notice emergencies, Amy has been willing and able to take my dog. I would highly recommend her services.”

“Ricardo took spectacular care of my pup. He was very informative and sending updates with pics regularly. My dog looked happy to spend time w Ricardo and his puppy so we will deff rebook again.”

“Elizabeth and her family were the perfect sitters for our little Maisie. I was constantly updated with pictures of the family taking her for walks and giving her lots of attention. Will definitely try to use them again.”

“5 stars isn’t enough! This was 10 yo Kramer’s first time away from home. His older brother died last month and they were never apart. This has been a very rough time of adjustment. Tammy is wonderful with Kramer! She has a warm heart, a dog friendly home and fenced yard. Kramer was extremely well cared for!”

“Thomas was wonderful with our airedale terrier. He sent pictures and updates about their adventures. Our dog has food allergies and Thomas was able to make sure he did not come into contact with them. We will look forward to hiring him in the future.”

“Our dog absolutely loved staying here and she took such good care of her. Such a great place for dogs to run and get exercise outside. You can tell Dixie loves dogs. We highly recommend her.”

“Amy was fantastic!! My dog Kevin had the time of his life for the past week with her and has been passed out since getting home! Would highly recommend her for anyone looking for a sitter.”

“I needed to find a place for my dog quickly due to an out of town family emergency. Crystal responded to my search very quickly and was available that day to do a meet and great. She was so flexible with drop off and pick up. Even pictures to see him relaxing in her family's Home! So thankful to have found her. Will be using her services again.”
About: I work at an animal shelter and have been handling animals from mice to Great Danes for the past 3 years. I have an in depth understanding of both cat and dog body language, and regularly work with animals that have handling sensitivity, resource guarding, behavioral troubles and health concerns. I help out in our in-shelter Vet Clinic, distributing both pill & liquid oral medications, vaccines/SubQ fluids, and administering topical treatments for skin, eye, and ear ailments. I am Fear-Free certified, which is a training that focuses on positive reinforcement to help eliminate fear and stress in pets. I regularly dog sit for neighbors and friends, cat sit for my sister, and have cared for dogs and small animals in my personal life, including guinea pigs, rats, fish, frogs, birds and lizards. At our shelter, for both dogs and cats- I feed them, clean their kennels, monitor behavior and health concerns, help with training, and administer medications. For dogs specifically, I take them for outside for walks/play pen time & their regular potty breaks, and oversee dog to dog interactions/play dates. I am available for pet feedings, drop ins, letting out your dog out, or taking them for a walk. Whatever is needed for your pet, I will be able to offer :)
“Luna absolutely loved her stay with Kate (she told me so). She went on plenty of walks and had tons of play time. She swam, experienced fireworks for the first and made new friends. I received daily updates from her (including adorable photos). She really handle my high energy child with grace and I will definitely be booking again!”

“Jenn and her family were exceptional hosts for my Harlow's stay. Harlow was loved on and cared for as much as she is in her own home here with us. We don't often board Harlow, but will not hesitate to rebook with this lovely family.”

Jeffery helped me out in a pinch and watched my dog Ruby for several days. He provided frequent updates and photos during her stay, which helped me feel at ease. You can tell he’s very passionate and thoughtful when it comes to dog care. Lots of activity during the day and other dogs to play with. Ruby seemed to have a wonderful time!

I needed a caregiver for my 10 week dachshund for a 1.5 day event. At first I was very hesitant to leave my little guy with anyone but Jeffery was amazing. He provided such great care from the time i dropped the puppy off to the time i picked him up. Jeffery was very good at providing updates and photos of how well my little guy was doing. We plan on having Jeffery care for our dog for our next event.

Carol is absolutely WONDERFUL!! She is a beautiful person and incredibly loving of our Lani. She’s a great communicator and so considerate of the dogs needs. She gave Lani and bath and even got her a new harness as she had grown out fit the one I sent with her. All around 5* I am so fortunate to have found her!!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
