“Lindsay is the best! She always responds quickly, is very attentive to my dog, Sophie, and is really helpful. I am so lucky to have found her. I have booked Lindsay several times, and she will always be my number one choice to take care of my fur baby. I highly recommend her!”

“Stephanie is caring, dependable, and responsive, I couldn't have asked for more from someone who was taking care of our cats while we were out of town. I will certainly ask for Stephanie's help again.”

“Bethany took such great care of our large pit bull/lab mix. It was my first time using Rover so I was a little nervous, but I could tell right away that our dog was in very good hands. She was very responsive and sent tons of pictures, and we will definitely use her in the future!”

“Loved Michelle! My dogs seemed very happy with her. She was prompt and spent real time with them longer than 30 mins which I wanted. I was gone 3 days. Planning on using her at least once a month when I travel. Thank you Michelle!!! My doggies are like my children and I was nervous having a stranger watch them honestly. Thank you for making me feel secure and not worrying while I was gone.”

“This is the second time I’ve hired Kristina to watch the dogs. Very pleased! You would be doing your dogs a favor if you pick Kristina. I hate leaving my old dog, but I know he’s in good hands with her.”

“She always does an incredible job and has usually even stayed a little extra time for drop ins which is just above and beyond. I know she makes sure each cat gets attention according to their own personality and what they like, and she always remembers their quirks! She is super flexible when I’ve had a last minute change or weird circumstance and I do appreciate her.”

About: I have handled dogs for the entirety of my life, all sizes from small to large, and with a fenced yard, they will have space!! I will be at home all the time, and will be able to give 100% attention to your animal while they are in my care. I have a fenced yard and two fur babies to keep your dog company. I can crate your animal if needed, but have space for your animal to explore
About: I've always been a dog lover & have had dogs since childhood. My latest baby is a doxie-chi mix (11 lbs) and she is the sweetest girl who brings me much joy! My husband has a cattle dog mix (30 lbs) who is a big teddy bear too! We walk them everyday, take time to play & of course snuggles! I truly believe dogs (& ALL animals) deserve respect & exceptional care, & I will treat your fur baby with the utmost love & care! I enjoy the different personalities of dogs and really get a kick out of watching them; they make my heart smile!! When watching your pet, I will review with you a list of questions in order to make sure I know your fur baby & their schedule, likes & dislikes. Being a dog owner already and having a routine with my little one, taking care of other fur babies just comes naturally to me :-) I work part-time during the week; I leave the house at 8:10am, and i’m home by 2pm, & Home all weekend! I am available for dog walks as well as boarding every day of the week. We have a large fenced in yard, which is a great size for running & playing. There is also a covered patio. Although we do not use them often, we do have a couple crates for our dogs if needed which we call their “night-night bed” but at night Hazel sleeps in the bed with us (& thinks she owns the bed! LOL) and Rocky is in his plush bed right beside us. Your fur baby is welcome to sleep with us, in a doggie bed next to us, or a crate; whatever you prefer! I have an extra crate in case your furbaby would like to have a little nap there instead of on the couch or a dog bed. We live in a great neighborhood with new families & older families, and everyone is very friendly. We have many dogs in the neighborhood & my girl loves to go on walks to say hello to everyone.
“Kimberly was, once again, a lifesaver while we were away for the holidays! She cared for our kitties so well and even went the extra mile to help out when one of them began vomiting a lot. We will be booking Kimberly as long as we can!”

“Jillian has done multiple drop-in visits with my puppy. She is very trustworthy and great with animals. I'll definitely be reaching out to her as needed in the future and would highly recommend her to others as well! ?”

“Mitch is the BEST! If you are debating who to use; use Mitch! He was able and willing to take over providing care for my dog last minute after the previous Rover sitter left my dog alone for over 24 hours. He made sure my dog was safe and given love and care. Mitch was a quick and clear communicator. Mitch sent me lots of pictures, videos and updates. Whole heartedly recommend Mitch!!”

“Suzanne did a drop in visit with our two cats while we were away for the weekend. She was great to work with and I would absolutely rebook with her! I highly recommend her for your pet sitting needs :)”

About: Hi, I’m Elaine! I recently moved to Cincinnati after graduating from Hanover College this May and am really excited to get into animal-care here! I love dogs and am passionate about animal welfare. I have years of experience between my family’s two dogs, my five foster dogs, and from being an active volunteer at my local humane society. Your pet’s safety, comfort, and happiness are always my top priorities! I also love sending pictures and updates so you can feel confident your furry friend is in good hands!

“Me and my partner were so grateful for having Laura take care of our cats, mostly because we were at ease knowing they were safe and cared for in her hands. Would recommend, and will be booking with her firm now on.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Sherwood
Devynne is the best! She sits for my parents as well and we are all so lucky to have her care for and love our animals while we are away. She clearly cares for animals deeply and I never had to worry while we were gone. She is kind, communicative, gentle, and patient. Followed instructions to a T and kept us in the loop every step of the way. Took perfect care of our 3 kitties and I can't imagine trusting anyone else now. Amazing pet sitter and a good person. Thank you Devynne! :-)

Mengshu and Thomas took such good care of our kitty this weekend. We came home to a happy, well fed kitty and a neat house. Mengshu and Thomas carefully followed his new feeding plan, including measuring and preparing three different foods - adjusting quickly to a last minute feeding change prescribed by our vet. Mengshu likes to take pictures - and sent lovely albums of photos as Dusty ate, played and enjoyed their petting and brushing sessions. They also sent detailed written reports of their actions and Dusty’s reactions. Mengshu and Thomas are not only skilled and efficient pet sitters, who go above and beyond, but caring people who obviously love animals. Dusty and we, his pet parents, look forward to using their kind services in the future.

Laura was absolutely fantastic! Went totally out of her way to take care of my dog while I was out of town. She is very reliable, great at communication, and took extra special care of her while I was gone. Will definitely use Laura again in the future and highly recommend her to watch your pet!!!

She always does an incredible job and has usually even stayed a little extra time for drop ins which is just above and beyond. I know she makes sure each cat gets attention according to their own personality and what they like, and she always remembers their quirks! I was a nervous dog momma leaving my persnickety English Bulldog for a short work trip but Wynn and Lauren put me at ease. They took the time to get to know him and build trust. Highly recommend… especially if you have an anxious pup who takes time to warm up to new friends.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
