Pet care experience

Working from home! 🐕‍🦺

We’ve both taken care of dogs and cats a-plenty since we were kids. As adults, we’ve helped friends and family with pet needs on many occasions. However, taking care of our five-year-old Aussie Doodle Rocky, who we adopted in 2021, has helped us grow from pet fans to full-time pet parents. Rocky’s journey from an anxious mess of a puppy to a well-trained, effusively loving dog has been enormously rewarding for both of us. It took a ton of work to make him fully trust us and be comfortable in different environments. In the process we learned just how important it is to do the little things to earn that trust, as well as the importance of balancing positive reinforcement with consistency in pet care.

Ollie’s stay was great! They sent fun pictures to keep us updated, which is especially appreciated when our daughter is missing her pup. Ollie came home happy and healthy!

Lauren and Wynn were great. Appreciated the meet and greet to get to know them. Very responsive to all my nervous-dog-mom texts. They live in a quiet area with a big yard and dog friends. Pup came home happy and worn out.

Drop-In Visits • Jun 10, 2026

I was a nervous dog momma leaving my persnickety English Bulldog for a short work trip but Wynn and Lauren put me at ease. They took the time to get to know him and build trust. Highly recommend… especially if you have an anxious pup who takes time to warm up to new friends.

First time using Rover and we decided to go with Lauren and Wynn because of their great reviews. They did not disappoint. Our dog Dixie seemed much much happier than when we used to use a boarding kennel, so that made us happier. They sent us pictures and updates while we were gone and had great communication about drop off and pick up.

Lauren and Wynn are awesome. We have used them quite a few times now and they have been so patient with our always loving, high energy and somewhat mischievous pup!

Schedule

I work from home every day, and have the flexibility to step away to handle any situation that may come up during that time. I have free time in the mornings, so I usually handle drop-in visits as well, if it’s within 20 minutes of our home. My partner Lauren works earlier in the mornings but is usually home by late afternoon or evening on weekdays, giving her the flexibility to make some house calls or other appointments most days after she gets off work, and help care for any dogs we’re boarding in the evenings. Between us, we can cover pet duties pretty much seven days a week (excluding outside plans). We do charge an extra fee ($19, or 50% of one night) for short notice boarding requests within 48 hours of drop-off, since it doesn’t leave time for a meet and greet. But as long as we are available, we are flexible with short-notice!

Safety, trust & environment

We don’t have a fence, but we live in a low-traffic area with a big front yard and a bigger back yard that extends down our driveway to another house where Lauren’s parents live. There are also plenty of nearby trails and sidewalks to go dog-walking on-leash, and we live near an expansive dog park (Otto Armleder Park) where we can take your dog to get a little social interaction or energy out, if they need it. We take Rocky there all the time and he loves it! He can also attest to the many, many interesting smells in our back yard (including but not limited to: grass, pine needles, and the occasional deer droppings). As for Rocky himself, he loves pups big and small; he rarely has any qualms sharing space with other dogs (or cats), and if for any reason they don’t get along, we have the space in our home to separate them comfortably. We’ll keep your pet warm, safe, and pampered!

Pets

A typical day

When we’re both working, I’ll keep an eye on the pups in our house throughout the day and take them on potty breaks every 3-4 hours (or more frequently, if needed). We may go on a short walks during my breaks, if time allows. When one or both of us is off work (or on weekends), we love to walk dogs around the block in our tree-lined suburban neighborhood, or go for a longer walk on one of several wooded walking trails near our house. We also live near a 10-acre dog park with three expansive fenced areas for them to run around in. And if they don’t mind a short drive, there is another park with hiking trails that we visit often.
