“Casandra always does a wonderful job. This was a very last minute ask due to a family emergency and she was very accommodating and was able to work my fur babies into her schedule!”

“It has been such a joy working with Leigh. This was the first time leaving my Wolfies in the care of someone other than me or my husband. With two young pups I was really nervous. But that all faded before the sitting even started. She is professional, and so caring for my pups. With her at my house I never thought twice if they were ok. Even when a accident happened. She said all was fine and I knew in my gut I could trust her. I have a since of freedom now that I have Leigh to help with my Wolies. So Thankful for her!”

“Kathleen is very kind and kept me updated while I was gone. When I got back Junebug looked like she had an amazing stay-cation with Kathleen. My house was in better condition than I left it as well. A++++”

“Paul was just fantastic. Sent updates and took wonderful care of our Dallas. No problems at all. Would highly recommend him to take care of ur fur baby. I will definitely use him again. Our Dallas enjoyed him a lot.”

“What an awesome job Nick did! We were so nervous leaving for our 10 day cruise and first time leaving our fur baby but he kept in contact when we had service and always sent pics. House looked awesome as well! We will definitely use him again!”

“Kaitlyn was amazing! I’m so thankful we found her. Oliver found his new best friend that gave him lots of love & hugs, played with him, and took such good care of him. She kept me constantly updated that made me felt at ease while I was away from my baby.”

“Louann took amazing care of my dog and home while I was away on an international family trip. She made sure my pet was comfortable and provided consistent communication and updates so I was informed and sure everything was fine while I was away. Couldn’t recommend Louann more!”

“Ashley took amazing care of Brody and Jake. She kept me up to date daily of their care. It is a relief to know someone is with your babies that actually cares for their well being while you are away. Thank you Ashley for a job well done!”

About: I have always been around dogs since I was young. I've owned three dogs of my own. I have worked with animals as a kennel tech, veterinary assistant and vet tech. I have experience taking care of senior dogs, young dogs, puppies. I have currently own a Belgian malinois who is a retired police dog, and I regularly work with him teaching him new skills as a working dog. I really enjoy working dogs and training them. I love being outdoors and getting down and dirty with my dogs swimming in the lake, I love bathing dogs and going for runs and walks. I currently a masters level student finishing up my degree in counseling. Before going back to school I worked with dogs for many years. On Mondays, Thursdays, and fridays I go to my internship and the rest of the days of the week im able to care for pets. If you board your dog in my home they must be friendly with my dogs, since i have two. I dont mind if dogs are on the couch. I am comfortable with a variety of animals, including cats, birds, dogs, and hamsters. I enjoy taking breaks from studying to walk outside and I am fairly active. I am very attentive to dogs health and behavior. Having experience in the veterinary industry helps because I can pick up right away if there is something wrong. Im also able to read dog body language, and de escalate situations if a dog becomes distressed or anxious. I am familiar with a wide variety of leashes and harnesses. I also use lots of treats to help build trust with animals and direct dogs with positive reinforcement. If you board your pets at my home they must be dog friendly.
“Got it—here’s a draft: We had a wonderful experience with [Name] during a drop-in visit with our dog, Finn. She was extremely communicative, sent plenty of pictures, and kept us updated the whole time. Since we were from out of town, she even shared great local recommendations for places to eat and things to do nearby. Her thoughtfulness made everything so much easier, and we’d happily recommend her to anyone looking for dependable, kind pet care.”

“Francesca did great. Our dog was happy and healthy when we returned. She communicated promptly with us when we checked in and we wouldn’t hesitate to reach out to her again when needed.”
About: I’ve never not had pets in my life! I’ve cared for a wide variety of pets, young and old, traditional pets and more exotic ones. I don’t mind caring for any type of pet— if it’s your baby, it’ll be mine too for a bit! Currently I have completely open availability! Some weekends I do theatre productions but those weekends are few and far between. I’m also a night owl and am open to care for your pets at all odd hours of the day or night. Routine is key for your pets. As a sitter, it is my responsibility to ensure your babies still follow their routine as if you were still at home. I have experience with more complex routines or routines that involve medication as well!
“This is our first time to use Rover and our pups head a great time with Ren! Our dogs were rescues during the pandemic and we weren’t sure how things would work, but Ren made it work out wonderfully! Highly recommend Ren.”

“Tyler is wonderful! He is very communicative and professional. I appreciate all of his updates while he watches our dog and how much he cares about her. I feel like she is always in great hands with Tyler! Will continue to request Tyler for future bookings.”

“Madison was fantastic! We have two older pups and one of them is wary of new people. However, our pup warmed up to her very quickly! Both dogs loved her and I’m sure Madison got a ton of snuggles and licks, haha. Madison also left our house in great order, bringing in the mail and making sure everything was tidy. She also helped out by filling our pool, which was very kind! We will DEFINITELY hire her again. Very pleased!”

“Hannah was absolutely wonderful! She watched our three boxers for 10 days while we were away on vacation, and we could not have asked for a better experience. She followed all of our instructions exactly and went above and beyond to make sure they were well cared for, comfortable, and loved while we were gone. Taking care of three boxers is no small task, but Hannah handled everything with confidence, patience, and care. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing our dogs were in such good hands. We came home to happy, well-cared-for pups, and we are so grateful for everything she did. We would highly recommend Hannah to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter!”

“She is a great pet sitter. We have older pets who have medications and are on specific schedules. Anna asked great questions during our meet and greet and made me have confidence in booking her. Our pets seemed to enjoy her presence and looked liked they warmed up to her quickly. We look forward to working with her in the future!”

Emma did a great job woth Winifred, Vee, & Piper while my wife & I were away for the weekend. She gave updates and made sure to take care of Vee especially (she is a newer member to the family and being a facility resuce, has some special needs). She is highly recommended.

Elizabeth went above and beyond while watching our two Goldens from 6 days! Sophie had a “hot spot” on her cheek that wouldn’t heal. Twice a day, Elizabeth cleaned Sophie’s face with Hibiclens. She gave oral antibiotics. Half way through the week, the Vet added an topical antibiotic. She went to our vet and picked up new medication. Then on her last night, Sophie decided to vomit several times! She had difficulty contacting me, but she persisted! With her and our vet’s help, Sophie stopped vomiting. All this at 11:30 on a Saturday night. All the while, she loved and gave attention to our other Golden, Bailey! She was calm and loving to our pets the entire time. When we returned home our house was the same as we left it! Highly recommend, Elizabeth!!!
Jessica was very good with our dogs - walking them a couple times a day. We have frenchies and they are pretty needy - she stayed at our house and was attentive to them. It’s nice when the dogs were happy upon my arrival home - makes leaving them easier. Jessica is very personable - we will use her again!

London was incredible!! She stayed at our house and made the whole experience completely stress-free. My dogs loved her and I loved all the updates and pictures while we were away. It’s such a relief to find someone you can trust in your home. Everything was perfect when we got back😀 The dogs were happy and the house was cleaner than when we left! I’ll definitely be booking her again!

Kylee has done house and dog sitting for us twice now and has been great! She made sure to update us each morning and evening with photos and videos. She followed instructions given and would reach out whenever she had a question. Will definitely continue to use Kylee for future bookings.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Shady Shores walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Shady Shores maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Shady Shores choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
